BUT i believe this is the first official statement that 2.4 will have XMB in game and trophies.

everything else was just rumors.

I guess in the end I'd still go with Rockband, it just has more replay value in the long run. Although I haven't really tried MGO and from what I know, what's included in the disc is just a starter pack, I don't really know what Konami has instored for the future of MGO.

I agree with you, this is why i love RB so much because of the replay value. Typically i pass a game quickly and put it down and don't ever play it again.

I talk to my friends on ventrilo so some of the features ps3 doesnt have doesnt matter much to me. Not having to pay a monthly fee to play online is a big plus.

They're all good. If you're getting UT3 make sure to get the user mods too.

Beyond MGO and RB, for online playable games I have GTA4, Motorstorm, Burnout Paradise, Tekken 5 Dark Resurrection, and Ridge Racer 7. I just don't play online much due to having a crappy Internet connection.

Ah my great dilemma. The problem is, every time a decent game that is multiplayer comes out, I buy it on Xbox because most people I know have an Xbox (and I will admit to favoring it).

I really want to see some exclusives come out for PS3 so I'm required to buy them. I've had the thing almost a year and I probably have 5 games. I have over 30 games on my 360, so I average about a game a month on that machine.

So if the 2.36 was last week, is there an update today?

In reality I'm worried about the tropies. It's going to turn into point-whoring just like on 360, but what's worse is the ease of downloading game saves from other people. All I'll have to do is copy someone's data over to my system and now I have an extra 48000 trophies.

Not all games allow you to do that, I tried to copy the saved data from my son's Dragon Ball Z game so that he could play at his cousin's own PS3, but the system wouldn't let me. DB Z doesn't have any trophies, but I guess some sort of lock will implemented for certain type of data on games that do have trophies.

I think they'll transfer... I'll assume it'll be setup to check your "current status" on a certain "achievement" and if you've done it... you've done it!

Well as it turns out it might be game based as Burnout Paradise WILL have retroactive trophies:

* Your Burnout Paradise save game has always been locked to your PSN id - so there's never been any chance of trading save games - your progress is your progress (we have a way of thinking ahead for this kind of stuff!)

* The Save Game Analyser works with a special export file that is exported when you do a manual save from the game, not your encrypted save game file - so there's no chance that anyone could hack that

It'd be cool to have trophies in RB1, even if they weren't retroactive or whatever.

It shouldn't be too hard to do this, especially since it's in the 360 version.

(But then again, there's the voice chat thing. Mandatory on the 360, but not on the PS3, so we might not see it at all.)

If cod4 had trophies...I think I would have everyone of them. I beat that game on veteran and the mile high club on veteran and I played for like 11 days on line. I think I was lvl 4? On 9th prestige. I killed.

I just saw a list of trophy supported games and there were only 8 or 9 on there. The only 2 games I spend any time playing are Call Of Duty 4 and Rock Band (neither one were on the list :confused:)

^humm?? Most of the games in that list aren't even out yet. Well two of those games I do have (WH and Pain). But the trophies are definetly no retroactive, I have several trophies on Pain that did not transfer over.

I don't really see why people would say "it sucks". The ability to use the XMB while being in a game is something all PS3 users have been dreaming of since launch date. Could there be adjustements? Sure, there's always room for adjustements, for everything.

All in all, I think it's a big step for PlayStation.

Well I think it sucks since the only thing I really wanted was custom soundtrack but I guess the games have to be patched for that too.

Warhawk hasn't been patched for trophies yet,they'll be with the 1.5 update.

"First off, there are 56 trophies included in the Warhawk v1.5 Patch. These are broken down into a couple of categories:

* There are 10 trophies based on the Warhawk's current stats/rank/awards system. Like getting all your Bronze badges, attaining a specific rank, or earning a number of medals.
* There are 34 trophies that are entirely *new* rewards based on Warhawks core game and not based on our current stats, ranks or other awards.
* There are then 4 trophies per booster pack that are, of course, completely new awards.

Developing 56 new trophies was a really fun part of the v1.5 production cycle...but 10 of them are based on stats and awards that you, our community may have already earned -- so that's why we made sure that those 10 trophies based on our core stats system would be paid out retroactively. Meaning, that once the v1.5 patch is released, and if you've already earned the requirements for those trophies *bling*bling*bling* Warhawk will pay them out to you!"

The people who say "it sucks" primarily want either a) Home or b) integrated voice chat through XMB. The former is still a ways off, and the latter is something that Sony is looking to see if they can provide.

(http://blog.us.playstation.com/) they said people who have it installed have had no problems. The problems are in installing (it freezes up or something). I downloaded and installed it early morning on the 2nd and it works smoothly for me.

Had a problem with a PSP update once, but that was more "glitch" than "brick", and the next update (a day later, as they pulled the first patch) worked just fine.

2.4 installed just fine on my PS3, which is still working without incident.

same here...I have about 10 people on my friends list and when you look at their profile they all say, "Level 1...no trophies." I did play for a while yesterday and thought it was nice to just "pause" the song I was on to check a message instead of having to go all the way back to the community section on the main screen to check 'em.
