Sorry if this question has been asked before but I am looking for some kind of sound absorbing mat that I can put my drumset on. I'm in an apartment on the top floor and I have been hesitant to play the drums as I know the omega pedal makes a lot of racket with the thumping sounds. I'm using the sock/towel mod on the omega right now to deaden the sound but wanted to see if anyone else has any neat ideas that would further reduce the noise. Thanks!

Well it's not really the sound but the vibration of you hitting the kick pedal and pads is what people actually hear. I live in a home so i don't have those worries but did you search the internet for 'sound reducing pads' or something like that? Get on Lowe's website or Home Depot, which ever you have in your area and look at their carpet dept, and see if they have pads or mats of some sorts that would absorb vibrations. Something rubber, but soft rubber so it absorbs the vibration of you playing.
There is workout equipment pads, you know, that you place under your workout machines so you or they don't slide on slick surfaces. See how thick those are and what there made of.
Maybe others will have other ideas, that's all I can think of for ya though.

Decent isolation mats will be quite expensive. I'd suggest you search for stable mats. They are usually made out of rubber and some of them are pretty thick, so should help absorb the sound. Most of them tend to be about 6x4ft, so you could cut it in half and double it up if you needed, or if you know someone else that might need one you could probably share the cost and have half each.

What he said ^^^^^
Whatever you do, don't go too thick or too soft a mat/pad or your drum set will be unstable, will rock and move around when you do the kick drum and may even tip over. You need something firm enough so that won't happen.
What about one of those foam pads they make for people to float around the pool on. Not the blow up kind of air mattress but foam floaty things?? Something like THIS (http://www.toysplash.com/productinfo.aspx?productid=111499&engine=nextag&cvsfa=732&cvsfe=6&cvsfp=111499) but obviously not this expensive. Go to Walmart, K-Mart, Target, etc and check out their pool supplies (as this is the season) and see what they got. Find something similar off the internet and order it.
There is probably all kinds of things you can use, you just have to be creative and think of the possibilites of things you could use.
