the idea of using the lower frets during solos is pretty sweet in my perspective, but i doubt anybody else with a shred of guitar hero history (pun suprisingly unintended) will have a go at it. so it's just been my assumption that the lower frets of the strat, gh exp. or not, have been passed over.
my question is, i guess, is if anyone actually makes use of the lower frets. imo, i like playing with 'em, and i'd like to get good with 'em.

Last night I actually started using them for the end of the solo of Blackened, which is all tapping (so it actually makes sense to use them). Sure, I still suck at...well, let's just say "all of the song", but I did bump my score up by a bit (4.75 stars!).

when i got this game for ps3 i never played a single GH game, started tour on hard and when i got to the second to last song (one before ggaht, think it's FWD?) i had to swtich to the solo frets to play the solo but i was not skilled enough to do it mid song so i restarted the song and started the song with the solo frets and finished it first try, then beat ggaht right after first try, i found not having to strum to be invaluable so from then on i never used the other buttons on any song for any reason.
later i got gh3 and then rb for xbox 360 where i use the les paul and will never go back as it is far superior to the strat, but for a good 5 months or so i only used the solo frets whether playing lead or bass and every song on expert. my brother also only uses the solo frets, but he's never played guitar hero and started off on the little buttons as they are closer together making cords easier to hit.
imo if u never played GH then solo frets are fine, if you ever played GH there is no way you can use em lol.

I only use them on the big rock endings, it is so hard for me to try and finger tap

Oh yeah, definitely use them for BRE's. Does take a bit of time getting past those wait-where-are-my-fingers-d'oh-I-missed-the-note-my-band-is-going-to-kill-me moments.

i guess i meant the lower frets as the frets closer to the strum bar.
if those are the higher frets, then my mistake.

I just started switching up to the higher frets on solos recently and only when I play by myself (so as not to mess up the band). Before I always got lost going back and forth...... but the game has slowed down enough for me that I can now look down at my fingers when I go from a song to a solo and back again.
There is no doubt that a bunch of the solos are easier if you play them on the higher frets... as I am finding out. I like having that option.
I only wish that they were a little closer together (upper frets and lower frets) and that there was a groove on the back of the neck that you could feel with the palm of your hand to let you know that you are in position.....
But as said I am getting it...

I got used to playing with only the lower frets. I figure switching back and forth would cause missed notes unless you're just good at it, and the size difference is something odd to readjust to every time you switch... so might as well just pick one set of frets and stick with it.

I actually use them and love them. THey make it so much easier to use your fingers with less spread in between the notes....
I play on expert and have beat all the songs (except the crushing Thrasher)...
Guitar Hero with the over charted songs would be so much easier if we could use the strat...
I just hope that in the future of the Rhytym games all use the lower frets...
So Yes, people do use the frets.....

I never even use the regular frets anymore, I just use the solo frets all the time. It makes it WAY easier to play behind your head.

I love the little buttons...I like many of you thought at first what is the point of those tiny little buttons their is no way any one could possibly use those unless they are little kids or something. While I was zooming through the solo tour searching for a challenge I finally came across GGaHT.
However after failing many many times attempting to beat Green Grass and High Tides and falling on my face every time I started switching at the solos but soon grew to love the buttons because they make it so easy to roll up and down on harder songs and i love one handed solos (take a nice drink with one hand and rock out with the other:cool: ,thats taking showing off to the next level;)) does anyone else just love one handed solos and enjoy pissing off the bassist or drummer while your playing :)?

I'd really, really like to use them (i'm stuck on the solo in FWD) but unfortunately, I play left handed, and my hand tends to get stuck in the little upswing part on the guitar's body, making it kind of uncomfortable.

I only use the lower frets in certain songs (Usually when there is time for a transition). They come in handy for songs that have zig zag sections(GGHT, Longtime) because of my special method. It is not too hard to switch when you know the song.
