We head to Canada and rock with the PlayStation 3 version of Harmonix's dream game
"Rock Band may have had its first public debut at E3 being played by Peter "I'll just pause it twice 'cause I'm that awesome" Moore, but despite the initial impressions of 360dom, it's fair to say that Harmonix is still aware which system made Guitar Hero such a hit, and they paid their respects. The people over at Sony Canada held a special Sony Holiday Preview Event in Toronto, and Rock Band was in the house."

Wireless "dongles" in action
Finally some info on the PS3 side of Rock Band.
It plays and feels just like the 360 counterpart, no big surprises here.
No info either way on whether Rock Bands strat can play GH I II and 80s.
I kind of hope this isn't all the news they have for today, I was hoping for something a lot bigger.

Wireless guitars use 3 batteries. That sucks.

I really hope this isn't the IGN Day 5 biggest and best thing they've been "building up to" all week.

Hah no problem, I'm just the messenger though :D

I feel the same way, I hope something else happens today, because this news, while great, is not huge news by any means, I feel that way because we didn't learn much except that PS3 is exactly like the 360 with almost zero noticeable differences.

Its big news to me since we Playstation owners havent heard/seen or read anything on how RockBand is performing on a Ps3

I don't undertand how this is big news. So it's this huge deal since you finally saw pictures of a RB Ps3 set up? You PS3 owners have known there would be a PS3 version since the game was announced, so how is this a big deal

While I was hoping the guitars would charge on their own, the battery thing is not exactly news, and with all the rechargeable batteries I have lying around, its not an issue. At least not for me.
As for the pictures, is that really a good way to use the dongles? I mean, I guess dongles should dongle, and maybe they are lighter than air, but it doesn't seem smart to have something hanging down on a USB port like that.

As a PS3 owner, it sucks to get crappy ports of games, and then people get the impression that the 360 is just a better built system, and capable of making better games. I think the excitement is knowing that RB hasn't been hastily ported over to PS3, like other games have been. Add to this the fact that the PS3 version has been talked about, but never seen, and you can understand why some people might have started to get a little worried. Who knows.
To a lot of people Rock Band is their baby, and waiting on it is a lot like being pregnant. I guess. You know for 9 months that there is a baby on the way, but that doesn't mean you can't be happy when it pops out and you finally see it.

It is a comforting article for PS3 owners I guess, but I think everyone was under the impression that the last article of the "Rock Band week" would have more new information. The only new things I found in that article were that the guitar takes 3 AA batteries and the drums are practically identical to the 360 version. Everything else we've already known. It's not a bad article in its own right, but hardly something that IGN would ever need to hype up.
I'm still hoping for one more RB article to round out the week. Not that we don't already have enough information from all directions at the moment, but I'd feel empty if this is how IGN really ends their Rock Band week.

I don't know about you guys but I wasn't exspecting much today from IGN after the last 4 days of RB week.I must say though that I was happy to finally see something on the PS3 version,I was beginning to feel ignored.

and that they were aware one of the reasons Guitar Freaks was still more popular in Asia than Guitar Hero was the abundance of J-Pop, which was something that might also get addressed in the future.
My weeaboo self is jumping for joy.

That PS3 looks like the "Pretador" You guys are kinda lucky lol. Really, this is good news. Finally they shine the light on the PS3 a bit more, I maybe not be a PS3 owner. But being a future buyer I want to know every detail of the machine and how things will run on it.

The funny thing about my position is I have both a PS3 and an X360 and am choosing to get Rock Band for the PS3. Strange? Oh yessssss....

There are a fair number of PS3 owners here. I'm happy just to see it running on the PS3. I knew it wasn't going to be delayed or anything, it's just relieving.

I'm glad they haven't completely forgot about us. I am getting sick of all the lame ports to ps3, so hopefully this will run smoothly and awesomely for us!

Not that this isn't great news, but, didn't IGN say that this week would amount to something bigger then the new song?

Well I'm a 360 owner but love all consoles (near) equally. Some obviously do better than others but the idea of a superior piece of hardware is just not true.
That said I still want to know what's the deal with Home? Will this Holiday's titles be compatible?

Seeing video showing off everything they told us about this week wasn't awesomer than a new song?
Oh wait, I guess it wasn't.
