EDIT: Warning, some of these posts may contain spoilers and i will try to pick out which ones do. As of now, someone posted a spoiler on the first post of the second page.

Did a rough search and found no topics on this so i figured i'd start one :D

BSG = Battlestar Galactica

I was just curious to see how many people on these forums has seen or watches the new version of Battlestar Galactica.

With the 4th season midpoint just having passed and all the shocking stuff happening on the show right now, i was also curious to see how it lined up with the old version of Battlestar Galactica. I'd like to know if anybody watched the older version when they were younger :)

This is by far my favorite show on tv and i was skeptical at first, i had to have a (much stronger) friend literally threaten me into watching the miniseries that came just before the actual first season and from that point on i've been hooked. Every friday night (and every sunday night there for a while during the 3rd season) i have a couple friends over and we watch it like good old fashion fanboys :D Its kind of funny too, because none of us are the stereotypical type that would watch that sort of show and all of us hate Star Trek, Stargate, etc etc.

Seems this show appeals to a wider audience and i'd like some feedback to find out who among the forums watches the show.

Love to find out if any of the HMX guys/gals watch the show too! As some of them seem to be into comic books and things of that sort (HMXHenry i think it was? :D)

Yeah, Starback is a girl in the new version and was a guy in the original. The original actor who played Starbuck in the original plays "Tom Zarek" in the new one.

Even with rock band, i couldnt possibly lose interest in the show...this season has been the most depressing season in a television show ever but i've put so much time into the show by now that i figured i might as well finish this last season, as the show is ending at the finale of the 4th season.

I forgot to mention, those who are interested in BSG, i went to the nerd extreme of...fan music videos. Yes, i know, its pretty sad when you get to that point...BBBUUUTTTTTT

These are mostly fan vid's with a few extra ones of me playing guitar a couple years back when i sucked thrown in that you can ignore :D (http://www.youtube.com/profile_videos?user=medalofhonor82&p=r)

BSG is awesome
i have watched all off it except the original because my dad told me it was really boring.

starbuck is amazing
Baltar is wierd but it is funny when the 6 in his mind is doing something with him in a crowded hallway or in the C.I.C or even in his lab while he was working on the cylon detector
and the cylons that are but don't know it until they see it for themselves(brother Katal)
Doc Kotol is funny

my one complaint is how ugly Hera is

yes i watch Bsg and i am dissapointed that they stopped making them until 2009

Curse the writers strike or what ever it is

The first half of the 4th (and last) season actually just ended and the last half of the show is premiering (sp?) early next year :D The writers strike just slowed down how fast the 4th season was writen, didnt really affect the schedule becuase as the actors themselves stated, they just worked harder to get the release of the 4th season out on time. No worries :D

Really? I just visited the set of Eureka (SciFi Channel) in Vancouver, British Columbia, over the Memorial Day holiday (friend I play XBox Live with is the Producer), and they were filming BSG in the buildings right next to the Eureka sets. I would guess they would show them before next year. They have only finished 5 episodes of Eureka, and the new season starts July 29th.

Yeah their doing a break again like they have for the past couple seasons at the middle point. From what i've heard on the directors blogs and such and also speculation and rumors says that the show will air right about january for the last half. Maybe the filming is different? I have absolutely no clue how any of that works haha. Maybe Eureka films as they go or just a bit before and BSG does it all and finishes beforehand, no idea here.

On a side note, thats awesome that you got to go to the set. I'll sound like a complete fanboy asking this but...did you see anybody you recognized from the cast of Bsg? Dont know if you even watch the show, but im sure if you did maybe you recognized some of the cast. That'd be kickass to meet some of em :D haha. Awesome connections you've got there.

I really only liked the original series, which I own on DVD. I've heard the new series is pretty good, but couldn't get over the fact they made Starbuck a female. I might give it a shot sometime.

I have watched the first two seasons, and about a third of the third season, but I no longer have SciFi channel, so I'll probably end up waiting until this final season hits DVD and I can watch the series from the beginning of the third season.

I like it a lot. Except for the Cylon, uh, fighter ships (can't think of the official name). They were so much cooler in the original series.

If anyone has the third season on DVD, can you tell me if it has those webisodes they had on the SciFi channel website prior to the premiere of season three? There were about a dozen, I think.

They post some episodes on www.hulu.com in case you miss them but they are only licensed to show them for a certain amount of time.

I been watching BSG since it started with the pilot, and i hate to say it because i love the show, its gone down hill after the 2nd season. This whole season seems like its based on who the cylon is. Then to top it off they find earth and its a nuclear wasteland. What a let down, people watched the show because of the struggle the fleet has gone through to find earth and its just a big let down. The funny part is theres fans that think its not earth and its some other planet. Yea right, they showed a nice shot of the brooklyn bridge.

Borrowed the third season from a friend in order to force my girlfriend into watching it after making her watch the first two seasons, and if i'm not mistaken, the third season does have the webisodes on the first disc. I'll check back with my friend today or tomorrow and repost if i remember :D But i'm about 90% sure they are on there.

Now that i think of it, you might be able to check online to see if they are on there too, but i'll try to repost his answer.

I have to give up some love for my fellow BSG peops! There are a lot of us at the office who LOVE this show...I know personally I kinda now hate Fridays...at least until 2009.

Mondays had been buzzing with theories, recaps and reinterpretations of the last BSG episodes...sigh.

I first watched this show around a year and a half ago. A colleague of mine at my last job told me about BSG and let me borrow/made me watch the mini-series. I called him up after I watched it and made him bring in Season 1 the next day. After that, I watched it obsessively for the rest of the week until I was done with the next 2 seasons or half seasons...I definitely had a couple of late nights and early mornings watching 5+ episodes at a time...so yeah, I love this show.

I now OFFICIALLY love everybody at Harmonix :D

This was about the same situation as i was in as i said, and yes there have been many an all-nighter in the name of Battlestar Galactica. My friend and i were positively obsessed with the show for quite a while. We'd do those nerdy fan music video's and rewatch the seasons :D And I have no shame over any of that either!

Our all-time favorite video that captures BSG perfectly is Here. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=is4lvdAIMxE)
By far the funniest video ever, if you know the show it's worth the watch!

"Launch the Vipa's....heh"

You'll find yourself quoting this video for weeks!

"Watch your filthy mouth!" :D

Honestly? I mean, I heard that complaint back in 2003 when the premiere was airing (because people hold too fast to a memory of a show that aired for one season back in 1978). The new show literally blows the old one out of the water (I was a fan of the old one when I discovered it in the early 90s). Forget best science fiction show - the new BSG is among the best shows ever aired. (Ok, except for the third season - the third season really feels like they lost direction for a while.)

I wasn't a fan of Starbuck at first, not because she was a woman, but because her character was the stereotypical "tough chick". But the writers have done a good job of developing her character beyond that.

Good stuff, medal. And you are a much better guitarist than I am so don't sweat it. That episode is pretty funny. I'll definitely pass that link out to the HMX-BSG fans.

MooTrain, I'd have to say that I agree. I think BSG is one of the best shows on TV and gets top rankings of best shows ever in my book.

I have really enjoyed Starbuck's progression and development. I find her and Baltar the most interesting characters and they really seem to steal every scene they are in...even if they barely say a word.

I have been a fan of Star Trek as well but I was never as, (dare I say) engaged, as I have been with this series.

So do we have any idea of the timeline for the end of the series?

Appreciate the compliment on the guitar playing even though it was pretty bad :D haha

As for the timeline, if you meant release date, then 2009 almost for sure. And from what my friend and I have gathered from podcasts, blogs, and the like, there is going to be a six month break just like they've done previously...which sucks.

Although, maybe I was the only one who thought the ending of this half of the season brought a crazy sense of...closure in a way. I both loved and hated how it ended, but it's the type of ending where im not waiting to see what happens next.

Don't get me wrong, i still REALLY want to know what is going to happen, but its not like Boomer's betrayal, Cain vs Adama/Pegasus vs Galactica, The Cylon Occupation, Possible nuclear obliteration, or the secret 4.

My guess is the final half of the series is going to be aired right around January/February.

On a side note, there are generally 20 episodes for a season, but this time there will reportedly be 23 (or right around there). We've already had the first 10, so we're likely getting 13 more (isn't 13 an unlucky number?...:() I forget where exactly i heard/read this, i believe it was a blog by Bear McCreary about making/mixing more music for the new 3 episodes? Or something like that...anyways, im not sure how to feel about the fact that the writers are able to add on another few episodes to the end...kind of leaves a vague ending in store for us.

Unless they are just adding filler episodes near the end to help finish up on some of the storylines, which im alright with, the more BSG the better!

All I hear is '2009' which hopefully means January, 2009.

But I have very little hope for Sci-Fi Channel to air them in a reasonable manner, after the year long wait for season 4 to start, and how bad they messed up the Farscape schedule and cancellation (Even though we got a great miniseries to wrap everything up, I'm still bitter).

As I recall, at one point there was a six month wait for the final four episodes of season 3 of Farscape.

My only hope for the final part of the series is that they keep up with the near break-neck speed which things were progressing in the first half of season four. It felt like every single episode there was so jam packed with goodness that it could have been twenty episodes.

SPOILERS!!

Well, harbinger in the dictionary means - One that indicates or foreshadows what is to come; a forerunner.

So, her being the harbinger of doom basically means that her coming back from "Earth" when she was thought to be Dead, was foreshadowing that earth was "dead".
