Current Song Info:
Welcome to IGN's Rock Band Sonic FAQ, where we shall work to keep all you fledgling musicians out there -- who are managing to get by without a single music lesson ever! -- informed about the upcoming and destined-to-be huge videogame as it approaches its November 20th release!
As we did with our previous (and quite popular) Guitar Hero III FAQ, we'll focus on the song list for Rock Band here, offering analyses, history, and tidbits of info about the many tracks that will be included in the new game. Scroll down to check out which songs have been announced (or in some cases speculated about) so far, and then also be sure to bookmark this page and check back at this FAQ on a regular basis as we will be continuously updating it with all the latest song info just as soon as its announced in anticipation of the Rock Band release. We've also included a quick index of all songs announced so far, and this time out we're also rating each track in terms of "how hard it rocks."
Because we all want to, shall we say, rock & roll all night, and party every day?
ROCK BAND!

I think that has got to be the third or fourth confirmation for Foreplay/Longtime, it's about time we accept the fact that Boston is in this game!
I love the GH III version of this, glad to see they finally made a Rock Band version, kind of a long read though...ah well I have a lot of time on my hands.
I like the "rockness" meter they have, kinda cool.
How the heck does "Black Hole Sun" only have a 5 on the Rockness Meter?! Blasphemy
(Just as a reference, "Celebrity Skin" got a 6...)

It seems that they omitted a bunch of songs...
Epic, Highway Star, FP/LT, Gimme Shelter...
Tough love on Black Hole Sun. Sushi must be upset.
But the good rating on Creep and Wont Get Fooled Again will keep the guy happy.

Hey, Creep scored 9 on the rock-ness meter.
I guess that explains how "rockin-out" the Ignorant Sluts are.

I'm not sure what you mean, but all the songs listed on the first page of the article are also all the ones that have been formally announced. The only one that could really be seen as omitted from that list is the song by The Police which hasn't been announced yet.

They forgot to review a few artists, for example Metallica is missing.
Anyone else feel like the Rockness Meter is a bit off? and the person writing this often times had little idea what they were talking about?

Off their month-old album Future Future Future Perfect comes synthpop band Freezepop's "Brainpower," though another track from that album, "Less Talk More Rokk" has appeared on Rock Band's competition Guitar Hero (as has Freezepop's "Get Ready 2 Rokk").
Um. I'm pretty sure Guitar Hero and Guitar Hero II don't really qualify as Rock Band's competition. Do they even understand why Freezepop was in "the competition" to begin with?
*sigh*
They forgot to review a few artists, for example Metallica is missing.
Oh, okay. I hadn't read through it all yet.

What I meant was they didn't review all the songs they posted on the first page of the FAQ.

Main Offender deserved a 9. Orange Crush deserved an 8. Maps and Say It Ain't So should have traded.
But Paranoid and Won't Get Fooled Again FTW!

This is bullcrap, why the hell does Maps get a five while Say It Ain't SO got a four? That is one of the songs I'm looking forward to the most, plus Weezer kick ass.

Haha, yeah. Shame they couldn't have saved you some work on that monster. God knows it must've taken enough time without having to look up each separately as well.

Correct ratings or not, that was a very entertaining read and that's saying something for IGN these days. Well played.

<_< No it's not....
Song: "Enter Sandman"
Artist: Metallica
Album It Appears On: Metallica (Elektra, 1991)
Why It Rocks: A Metallica standard, "Enter Sandman" was the first single from the metal band's self-titled album from 1991 (a.k.a. The Black Album). The track eventually went gold in the U.S., selling over half a million copies. The basic structure and simple guitar riffs of "Enter Sandman" allow it all the more room to bang heads, as it were, starting with a steady metal intro that never rests -- despite the dream/nightmare theme of the lyrics.

I understand Say It Aint So scoring that low (I don't really like the song too much myself), but I agree with you on Black Hole Sun. Especially when Celebrity Skin got a 6.

This is a horrible article. On top of not showing all the songs/the songs being scored weird, the writer didn't see mto really know what he was talking about. Not to mention of the songs he decided to write about, 5 of them are also in GHIII and have the exact same description from the GH3 list.

Yes well presumably the same song is going to have the same history.

It WAS missing last night when it was first posted, I didn't expect it to be missing forever, all the ones that weren't there last night have probably been put in by now.

Umm... FAQ? What the hell? FAQ is "Frequently Asked Questions". There wasn't a single question asked or answered in that entire article, it was just a review of the songs (by poor reviewers).
If someone is listening that has access to the songs wanted to do a list of song reviews, I would appreciate:
1) Drop the "rockness" meter... why the hell would I care what the authors personal rating of the songs are? I don't think IGN has any actual music critics on the payroll.
2) I want to see an approximate difficulty rating for each instrument on each song. That would actually be useful. (Of course, none of the IGN guys play on expert, so it's probably out of reach for them.)
3) Describe a song highlight. Harmonix described the song selection process as a process that looks for "band moments" where there's a great build, or neat trading of focus, or other "togetherness" moments in the song. Describe that in the article. Tell me, "Oh man, you're going to love the bridge in (song title) where the drums build into outright guitar explosion."
4) Fun fact for each song. Let me know that this song is tied to the Seattle venue (Pearl Jam? Soundgarden?), let me know that the guitar part switches between the rhythm and the lead, etc.
5) Rate the cover. When the song is a cover, let me know how it turned out. Did you notice it was a cover?
Getting general information and a "rockness" meter from a bunch of no-talent ass clowns doesn't really do anything for me. Everything in that article is "general information" that could be gathered from Wikipedia or some other more reputable source. (Yes, I know exactly how reputable wiki is... IGN's music opinions are certainly less so.)

Seriously.
Game critics hate Weezer though, that's basically been established.
Edit:
"This was Weezer's third single and is taken from their debut album. In the grand scheme of songs from this period of the band's existence it's one of the mellower offerings they serve up. Historically significant due to the various mixes of the song that are available. The original album mix featured no feedback. For the single the band kicked some guitar feedback into the mix. After the initial run of the album has sold 3 million copies they replaced the song with the latter version. Diehard fans who may not have an original pressing can score both copies on the Deluxe Edition that was released in 2004."
Seriously, there's TWO mixes of the song and they say NOTHING about the actual song.
