yea, same here, haha, i can understand taking an animals life to survive but even then it's kinda wrong, but killing an animal just to make you smile for a few minutes seems pretty psychopathic to me, i seriously think people that enjoy killing might have something wrong in their head, i don't think we're supossed to take enjoyment in something's death, that's like what a killer does.

I play Duck Hunt on the NES all the time. I have no problem there. But if I was handed a rifle and told to actually shoot a real duck, I probably would have bad memories every time I pick up the Nintendo Zapper.

Yeah, just to shoot any animal just to watch it die is a ***** ****ed up. As for killing it, watching it die and going "Oh **** this is going to be good." That's ok in my book. I rather go deep sea fishing than hunting though, shark tastes damn good and puts up a decent fight.

But it all depends on what you're looking for... there is cheap stuff and really expensive top of the line gear that is suitable for the more experience hardcore hunter... but for beginners and casual sport hunters you really don't need to spend a lot at all

You and me both, but then again...I still fish. Fishing is relaxing. Hunting requires you to be alert too much, where as fishing you can just sit there and chillax and wait till something strikes your line.

well i say like beef but a little more wild (stronger) here were i hunt deer eat alot of corn and grain because of the farmers but if you go up north they eat pine needles and stuff like that that makes them taste really really stronge. where do you live i go hunting in 2 weeks if i shot one i can send you some jerkey:D

Hes probably the kind of kid who if he said anything hes said here to anyone in real life he would get a swirly in a toilet full of fresh poop. Theres always a psychology behind things. A majority of people who try and cause trouble on the internet have self esteem issues in real life...All we can do is just look at these people and hope for a better world.

I'm a hunter. I've been hunting since I was about 10 with my father. My brother is a decent marksman with a rifle, but I specialize in shotgun shooting. My father works for the Department of Natural Resources in Fish and Wildlife, so we're pretty well versed on the natural order of things.

You guys need to remember: there is a reason you need a permit for this stuff, and it extends well beyond safety of people. The habitat is also in need of protection. When you go hunting, the seasons are defined by the existing population of whatever animal is in season. Licenses (to hunt that animal that season) are distributed to registered hunters because, since we have colonized so much of the countryside, we <B>have</B> to keep animal population under control.

Let's use deer for example. These are very active creatures, and also eat a lot. If we didn't control the population (and we do this by hunting), they would reproduce (like I said; very active) at the same rate, but more would reproduce since we had not been controlling the male population (it is illegal to kill a female [doe]). Now the population exponentially grows, and they destroy their habitat by overeating and thus killing off a great deal of the plant life. Less food means more deer starve to death, which creates more food for scavengers (rats and coyotes), which increases their population, until the deer level off again, and then the same cycle happens to the vermin population.

Due to the human control of environments, it is absolutely necessary to hunt and therefore maintain a healthy ecosystem. So why, if I enjoy doing so, should I not engage in the symbiotic relationship that is created by hunting? I can understand that we don't all like to do this activity, which is fine because the less hunters there are, the more I am allowed to hunt. And deer is incredibly tasty, although I prefer to hunt duck. Like I said: I specialize in shotgun.

I just wanna back up briefly---meat eating came up earlier --just want to throw out another point of view that isn't so black and white.....I'm not a vegetarian i eat meat maybe once a day and when i do its usually beef or pork. mostly beef....
ya wanna know why i dont eat lots of meat? ya dont? oh ok...well I find meat to be very tasty and would eat it more often if i didnt have this little voice in the back of my head reminding me that this tasty chicken sandwich was once a bird that was put through a horrific ordeal from birth to death --why, you ask--- well of course because it's cost efficient and that way this delightful mcchicken costs $1.00 instead of $2.00.... I have no problems with killing or killing animals(all you hunters who eat your kill are alright w/ me!) I do have a problem with treating animals as though they feel no pain or stress, keeping them confined to pens where they cannot move easily and have no exposure to sunlight....you've all heard i'm sure how terrible factory farms are and how they treat the animals raised there. I'm sure those anecdotal stories are understating the circumstances anyway. I'll keep eating my free range meats (and the occasional commercial meat product--i only have so much discipline, ya know)and i dont mind paying a premium to not partake in cruelty to animals --even if i live far enough from a factory farm that i dont have to think about it doesnt mean im not part of the problem

i have no problems with eating puppies, kinda like veal i suppose , all tender and tasty!! just put the poor creatures out of their misery when they are young , or better yet, allow some decency to the critters leading up to slaughter...is it too much to ask? is it?

I don't hunt because there's nothing I want to eat badly enough to go through all that trouble for. Get up before dawn, freeze my butt off, clean it, cook it...ugh. I'd rather sleep in and go to a steakhouse. I have relatives that hunt and I'm glad they do...nothing beats a nice piece of backstrap marinated, grilled and wrapped in bacon. Just so long as I don't have to go through all that work for it.

here in the beautiful province of ontario were are allowed to kill female deer (Doe) but we have to go into a a lottery and the D.N.R pick who has a buck tag and who has a doe tag.

Every now and then doe hunting is acceptable, but, like you, it's based on what your local Dept of Natural Resources or Game and Parks Commission decrees. Typically doe are not hunted, as they may have already given birth and we don't want the fawn to be unable to mature.

For the record: I hate the movie Bambie. They make the hunter out to be evil, and there is no reason for that. Also, if he were to shoot that doe, that habitat would have to be WAY overpopulated, which isn't properly represented in the film. Also, I infer that he is a registered hunter based off of his dress. He's not out there in a Harley Davidson t-shirt and claiming the south won the Civil War. So, if that is the case, the sheer volume of deer in the area must be extreme for him to get that right.
