OK
im just pulling this outta my A$$ right now
but
do any of you think it would be possible to
IF thats a big if
there is a custom song making soft ware for rock band on ps3
*BIG IF PPL NOT SURE*
that you can make it, put it on an external hard drive formated to fat32 (i have one thats 250 gigs so i know it works cuz i put movies, tv shows etc. on it)
can u actually have it saved as like.. sorta the same file as the downloadable content so it reads it as DLC??
im not saying this has happened, this works, or its possible
im wondering if it IS possible
cuz if so
id like to know

*EDIT*
Im wondering, can i back up downloaded songs on an external hard drive?
if so how
cuz my friend has DLC i dont have, he wont give me his password or come over to log on for me so i can download the songs for free (i know im cheap, but its a lot of money for the ones i dont have. and he has all lol)
so like if i can copy DLC were do i find it on the playstation?

I believe HMX was originally planning (Via the Rumor Mole) to make software that would allow musicians to record their own music for Rock Band....not much has been said about it in awhile... I think the idea was scrapped.

im wondering
i do think its possible
all i need is someone so give me a custom song program cuz i dont know were to find one
and a program that saves it as the DLC format
i think i can like.. copy and paste it into the save data?? or would it over write it??

No, stealing is not allowed.

No. There is no "custom song program", and you can't copy/move DLC with an external hard drive.

If you're hoping to take the mp3s and put them on your computer, you're out of luck. 99.99999% chance it's not even an mp3, and the other coding involved on each song virtually guarantees that it's encrypted and locked and copyrighted so much that unless you're a skilled hacker, you don't need to worry about it.

On edit, no, DLC is copyrighted in a way that it cannot be copied in any form, and the only way to play his DLC would be to take his XBox and play using his account.

On second edit, GH:4 unfortunately has a song creation mode. But I'm pretty sure it's going to suck, and it's pretty silly anyway, and btw I'm glad Rock Band doesn't have one.

same here. this is the one situation where the "just play a real instrument" argument makes sense. if you're composing the songs, choosing notes and chords by name why not just sit down and actually write a song on a real guitar? it's different in the main game where you're just following a preexisting track, but this is a step in the wrong direction I think. the game doesn't need realism, it needs to be fun

I wasnt hoping to take the mp3s and put em on my computer
no way
it was just a theory
i wasnt gonna go screwing with my game lol
um.. yea i think the dlc saves on game data so its probably impossible to copy those

Fake DLC is possible on the 360 but it will get you banned from XBL so there's no reason to use it :p
