However stupid a question this may seem...does anyone know if I'd be able to use the US guitar / drums / etc. controllers on an EU PS3 (or for that matter, if an NTSC copy of the game will work on a PAL PS3? I don't think PS3 games are region coded, but I'm not sure...)?
Thanks.

For PS3? No problem. DLC may be an issue.

Aren't PS3's region free? I don't have one, so don't quote me on this just yet.

Okay, thanks. The access to DLC would depend on whether it's available through the PlayStation Store or the game itself, I guess...

yes they are.:) but it may not work because of the songs. Like stranglehold wasn't going to be region freee because it came with the movie hardboiled but at the last second they made it region free.

what about coding for the 360 I think that we have all established that the PS3 version of Rock Band will work on EU consoles but not 1 clear answer has been stated about the 360's region coding. A answer for this would be good not any1s sarcastic off topic comments thanx

As far as I know, Harmonix haven't said anything about this yet. I think that your best bet would be to email them to see if they are going to region-lock it or not.

Actually, unless I'm very much mistaken, you won't be able to play a US copy of the game on your EU setup, because of the difference between NTSC and PAL. The PS3's games are region free, but the different display standards are going to be your barrier here, I think. Someone please correct me if they've made NTSC games work on PAL consoles and TVs before, though.
Region-free is honestly most advantageous (as far as I'm aware) for US gamers, because Japan uses NTSC, so we can import Japanese PS3 games with impunity.

If you have a HD TV there is no issue as PAL and NTSC don't really come into play. My old CRT TV that I had since 2000 could play NTSC no problem when it came to DVDs etc. If your TV is relatively new, there should be no issue. I can't remember having a TV that didn't have an NTSC option. I know loads of people who've imported PS3 games and they work fine.
