Well I think the offense was never clearly stated and you shouldn't be held with ban.

I have seen the same threads in a million other forums way more strict and as long as it was in good, non-nude, kidding it was fine.

It's tough to be a mod and let it slip I know but if you keep an eye out and make sure the thin line is understood and preserved it's acceptable.

The pics were really overwhelming and insanely floodtacular. It was really the hijacking dynamic that made it epic.

Well, some of you were dangerously flirting with the rules. However, I have been around enough to know the regular crowd and know that you're a good bunch. If I didn't, I might have been... irritated. :D

I also know that certain parties were responsible for inciting that thread and need to be held responsible. Unfortunately, I lack the credentials to take action against them and revoke their posting privileges. However, I expect that their stay will be short-lived. Nine locked posts and multiple deleted posts over the course of a weekend will get the attention of the appropriate parties.

Account suspention/termination it is a pretty powerful hammer to wield, and it has (rightly) been held close to the vest by the site operators. While I cannot, others surely can (and probably will). :cool:


It is also why I haven't done more locks/deletes in regards to this weekend... because without the ability to ban, it only incites further negative posting.

Like I said before there are obvious levels of decency and indecency and that I understand. But if the actual lines of indecency were not drawn I wonder just how far it could have been pushed really. Had the ToS said anything specific I understand but if you leave it to opinion you're bound to come across a controversy. And the controversy building here is there were no real lines drawn beyond common decency and you've left the member to vouch for himself and his idea of what is acceptable. Something that is just begging for mixed results.

The ToS has always seemed like a placeholder type ToS. It has no real detail or substance beyond the obvious.

Back at GameSpot it was really, really, hard not to know what the boundaries were. I mean really hard. And everyone knew the rules and they were obeyed. Here we kind of have a traditional law. It's really tradition and customs pooled from our own experience that make the rules. The ToS is justa base.

This is supposed to be a PG to PG-13 level game, so the forum should have PG-13 content at worst. I don't want it to get the point that members needs to fear clicking on threads due to inappapropriate comments or pictures.

I think the possibility of scaring away our female posters is what you mean but I found that thread in no real way sexist. Sexist would be saying these are hot girls, they're the only girls in the world to give a rats ass about, and they're only good for sex. THAT IS SEXIST!

I personally believe what was displayed wasn't sexist at all. It was done in good fun, it was done moderation (hence my refusal to post pics and Battle Axe's self-censorship in deleting or replacing what he found too much), and it was not done in an attempt to degrade anybody.

If a woman got offended I wouldn't blame her at all. When I see chicks doing that about dudes I get...well actually I understand because I do it too and when I see chicks doing it I kind of tend to jump in and have fun. Maybe just me I mean this isn't about me. I'm pretty easygoing to a point (like responsibility or if you're trying to offend me). What we're talking about her are the people who aren't like that and may get a little upset.

My point here is I think the more appropriate way to say it is that it could scare some female posters or would be posters away. And I agree and that's why a majority of us did practice moderation and kept it all good and lighthearted.
