View Full Version : Freezepop in Guitar Hero: On Tour?

Ok, so I'm highly confused. Freezepop's I Am Not Your Gameboy (With Less Talk More Rokk for a few seconds half way through) is in Guitar Hero: On Tour. I know they're allowed to do this, it's just that Guitar Hero is a rival product, so giving them assets is kinda, counter-productive

There's a bit showing off the (painfully unfitting) setlist, with the song being played afterwards.

It's not really counter productive, since HMX isn't making gameboy games.

Now it would be weird if Freezepop showed up in GT:World Tour.

Meh, Frezepop can make money off of it, and it's not like they are going to make a Rock Band for the DS so, I really don't see the problem.

I've beat the game on Hard and almost all of Expert and have yet to see this song. How do you get it??

That is strange. Freezepop has a member who is a Harmonix developer, right?

I know that there isn't a Rock Band for the DS, but it still seems wrong. Rock Band may not be directly competing with this game, but it is still an entry into the series that is Rock Band's competitor. Freezepop has had a song in every music game that Harmonix has made (right?), so it seems a little odd to support Activision's Guitar Hero franchise in any way.

I don't own the game, but I read somewhere that when you beat all of the boss battles, it unlocks.

Aww damn, don't tell me these things. I love playing Freezepop songs, I guess I'll have to go get GH:On-Tour expecially since the reviews seem favorable.

Btw, people keep mentioning that HMX doesn't make Rock Band for DS. Well, they don't YET. Just you wait, they'll come out with a similar guitar attatchment, two tiny stylus drumsticks, and singing via the built-in microphone. When it (never) happens, you should all remember that I called it.

Wow Freezepop. That's kind of cruel. Licensing one of my favorite songs of yours to a non-HMX game that I'm not going to buy? I thought torture was against the law?

Now, what do we have to do to get this into Rock Band?

It just goes to show that the rift between Activision and Harmonix isn't as great as some people like to make out really.

That and Freezepop are known whores. They make a point of it. That's why we love them. "Boys On Film" for Rock Revolution!

Anyone and anything can be bought if the price is right.

Who would pass up being able to hear "I am not your Gameboy!" blasting from a DS? That's just awesome.

From their website on the matter:

Freezepop has now released songs in 8 different games, from a variety of Harmonix titles to other games like DDR, FFR, and Downhill Domination. We are of course truly the most excited to be involved with Harmonix and the amazing music games that they create (we’re sure you can understand the bias ;-) ) but we are also interested in reaching new fans from around the world and want to be open to many different opportunities as they arise. In terms of “selling out” to GH or any other game, we were kindly paid, but have made no more money on GH:OT than we did for Amplitude which was published by Sony way back in 2003. FWIW, we didn’t get paid at all for our tracks in GH1, GH2, and RB1. For us, we just love being involved with videogames. Involving all of you fans and gamers with our music and letting you interact with our songs in the new and innovative ways that these games provide is extremely gratifying for us. See you at PAX!"

I'm assuming they're not including Sprode in the "not paid" tracks for RB. Otherwise I have to wonder why it's priced at $0.99 if the artist isn't getting any kind of payment.

Also. Note how they didn't refer to Rock Band as "RB," but rather as "RB1." Now that's certainly interesting.

Cause you are still paying for the 16 tracks of charting plus on-stage (lip, movement, camera, light, etc.)-synicng. Plus the "HMX likes making money" surcharge, and maybe a little bit of "MS/Sony likes skimming off the top" fee.

I noticed that too. VERY interesting...

wow you guys must be the greatest at sarcasm or i'm missing something. brainpower and sprode are the two worse songs in RB imo, they are awful awful (second awful for emphasis)... but maybe this is just me and eveyrone else i know in real life or played with who has a mic.... i've yet to meet someone who likes either of these songs! if it's blind loyalty to a band i can understand but these songs are awful awful!

Different strokes for different folks. I don't really think I can be accused of having blind loyalty since I didn't even know about Freezepop before GH1. Personally, for me Freezepop songs are plain fun with energetic music and fun lyrics. Also, what better song could there be for a DS to play than "I am not your gameboy"

Well, if you think about it, it makes sense since Harmonix created Guitar Hero, and Freezepop is composed of Harmonix employees. In fact, many of the bands you see as far as bonus songs are created by Harmonix employees: Freezepop, Big Bob and the Factory-to-Dealer Incentives, Bang Camaro, are all Harmonix employees.

True, HMX created Guitar Hero, but they left that franchise and now have nothing to do with it. In fact, Guitar Hero is a competing franchise now, ran by their old publisher with a new developer.

I just got the game about 4hours ago...beat it on expert about 15 minutes ago. the Ozzy song (I don't wanna stop) is rediculous. I've yet to do the guitar duels mode though, so no freezepop yet. thanks for lettin me know it was there though
