For one, I just went to the EBGames in my mall. They had the "Special Edition" thing on display for Rock Band. Yes it did say Boston - Foreplay/Long Time on it. Then again it also said Metallica - Enter The Sandman... Anyway, I went there and bought the "Intercooler Ex" thing for Xbox 360. I was happy with it and all having taken safety to make sure my 360 works for when Rock Band comes out. I get home, put the intercooler on the back of 360, plug everything back in. I turn the 360 on... then....
RED RING OF MOTHER****IN DEATH! God damnit! For some reason it still works without it though...

The thing on the bottom of the 360.

They had some thread about problems with the 360 overheating (RRoD) and the thing that worked best in there was the intercooler. The towel trick works but it can also screw up your 360 even more.

The intercooler EX should work fine. You just need to make sure you shove in the cord good and all. I really suggest cutting off the power end with any power tool. Then wiring the fans to an external power supply. If you look at that thread again you will see that's how mine is hooked up. It won't harm your 360 in any way. Just to remember to cut it on and off when you want to use it.

Wow, thats a few people's 360's crashing in the past couple days. I do feel bad for you guys. If you spend that much money on a system it should be something that is completely reliable.
My condolences. Hope you get it back before Rock Band.

His system still works. It's just the intercooler on that doesn't make it work. More than likely he didn't make sure everything was snug tight before turning it on. The intercooler does work normally but I highly suggest to just cut the power end off and use the fans, it will extend the life of your 360 by a lot.

Is it fully clipped in?

Never mind, I found out the problem... The power cable wasn't plugged in all the way, the thing just makes it hard as hell to plug in. I'm still not sure as to why the 360 showed the Red Ring of Death though. It made a C, the top left, bottom left, and bottom right. The one that shows something isn't connected is a full circle of red lights... Anyway, it works fine now.

Ah yes, I see. My eyes kind of gravitated towards what was in caps and not really the rest of the sentence lol.

On a side note though, if anybody didn't see it, Foreplay/Long Time WAS on the Rock Band box (the special edition). They made a mistake though and put "Enter The Sandman" for "Enter Sandman". I think it was just a display box though because there is NO WAY that it could fit everything in there. It was a little wider than the Guitar Hero II box and about half of the height. On the back of it it said:
This special edition includes:
[Check] Guitar (picture of guitar)
[Check] Drums (picture of the drums)
[Check] Microphone
[Check] Rock Band Game (picture of the game case)

It did the RRoD because it wasn't plugged in all the way. The Intercooler (mine) did that a lot even if you had it on tight. That's why they created the Intercooler EX. The Intercooler Ex won't harm the system, just that low voltage it takes out to run it will eventually kill the 360 over time, but we're talking years here. A new generation of consoles will be out before that 360 dies from the fan voltage.

Also to answer somebody else's question (think it was EMan), I bought the intercooler because I have a 1st Gen 360. That means it has no Falcon chip, and no heatsink. Never got repaired before and never plan for it to. Also according to the back of the box it has "full metal contacts to maximize power flow".

Not sure if they had that one, I didn't look for it. Whoever it was that said Foreplay/ Long Time was on the box also said that was on there. Foreplay/ Long Time is on there so I'm guessing that Next to You is too. Like I said though, it was like a display box, they had it pushed up next to the window to where you couldn't even see the back of it. I had to take it out of its little spot to see it.
