View Full Version : The Whole List Should Be Coming Soon if HMX sticks to it's old ways

when harmonix made GH2 and 80's, they released the songs 2 days after the one month checkpoint before it's release. for example, gh2 came out on november 7th i believe and the whole list was released on october 9th. and for the 80's the game came out on july 24th and the list was released on june 28th. so if they stay true to how they usually do it, then the whole list could come next week between the 22nd and 27th of the month. Am I too far-fetched to think this? because that's usually how they've done things in the past, or at the least they should release something next week i would guess.

No, but I thought HMX was only half of Rock's the 80s? I thought that was when they split up, and HMX only did like, half of the songs..?

I don't think that's true.........

Oh. Guess I'm wrong then. :) Edit: Yep, I was wrong. I checked IGN, and Rocks the 80's was published by RedOctane and developed by Harmonix.

But the guy is right though, all of the GH2 setlist tracks were released at just a little under a month. But they didn't release bonus songs.

As for the unlockable bonus tracks, RedOctane tells us that it wants to keep those songs a secret until release as to not spoil everything for the fans. Sounds good to us, though we're certainly interested to know simply what caliber of tracks will be included. Good things come to those who wait however, and luckily we have less than a month to do so.

But the article says RedOctane wanted to keep it a secret. Nothing is said about Harmonix.

I'm pretty sure that they did all of Rocks The 80s, as a last contractual agreement with RedOctane.

but if this pattern is true, then we'll get some new info soon. :D

I dont care that much of the song list in the CD we already know what most of the songs are.The bigger question is the DLC,all we have really heard about is the WHO.Metallica signed on in July so what songs and how many are they bringing? The Greatful Dead 18 songs great! So if DLC is the next big thing then why have we herd so little about it.Or is it a replay on GH2 for the 360? what was it ,10 songs or so?

Only 9 songs I believe..

2 packs of GH1 songs
1 pack of MCR

I would just like to hear DLC... and that they announce some really awesome songs.

they also have the "indie rock" pack with atreyu and others.
they have the my chemical romance pack too.
they just started to offer some single songs it looks like they are from france, germany, and another european group i forgot.

absolutely none of which interest me in the least.

a friend of mine has all the track packs and yes there are 4 3track packs from GH3, 1 3track pack from indie music (is trivium indie?), and 3 single track packs from foreign bands (funny thing is that they are 200 pts each so its like the 3track pack of them would be 600, pissed my friend off but hes addicted, lol)

EDIT: right I forgot about My Chemical Romance track pack, can you blame me?

I think the indie pack and those individual songs will be coming to GH3.

There's been a total of 21 songs for GH2... 12 from GH1, 3 from My Chemical Romance, a 3-pack of indie songs, and then 3 single indie songs.

If Harmonix can deliver on even The Who's Next and the 18 Grateful Dead songs, they'll surpass the GH2 offerings in number, but certainly I'd like songs from a variety of groups...

really? seems like a rip off to anyone who bought the packs and plans to buy gh3. Well my friend seemed to like them alot and so did I actually. The trivium song was a lot of fun, bring the metal!

i think we should get a big song announcement this week. nothing can hurt the guitar hero 3 launch more that if they were to announce a huge song dealing with guitar. But hey that's just my two cents

IMHO there are two schools of thought on releasing info:

1. Strike while the iron is hot. IGN and scorehero last week generated some substantial buzz. Attention on this board and gaming sites is high... so now is the time to knock the proverbial socks off people, especially right before the GH3 release.

2. Don't burn yourself out too soon. GH3 did this. They let out all the good news way too soon, leaving themselves in a funk for a full month or more right before release. If information is your ammo, you need to conserve shots and make them count for a full month.

I am hoping that the best is yet to come...and really it only makes sense for that to be the case.

If they were to announce DLC of Kansas, Boston, Maiden, Zeppelin, Floyd, Beatles, or Journey, my purchase would be, like, octuple-confirmed. It's already septuple-confirmed, but one or more of the above would really seal the deal.

Again.

I'd like to hear the full set list announced, but then again I wouldn't. I made a thread way back in the beginning where I basically begged HMX to hold back some information, so that there would be some surprises after release. I can think of no better thrill than opening the game and finding out some major bands made it on. That'd be pimp and a half, but I understand with today's market, that's really not feasible. If you've got Led Zeppelin, the last thing you're gonna want to do is keep that under wraps until after release.

And I wouldn't go by HMX's past history with the set list announcements. They were working with a different publisher on GHI/II/80's. And with news like this, the publisher has as much vested interest as the developer.

Yep, I think the fact that GH3 is coming out this weekend won't be overlooked by the PR machine. While HMX bears no ill will against the series, I'm sure MTV and/or EA won't pass up such a golden opportunity.

I'm betting on full set list and/or major DLC announcement by the end of the week or early next to steal some thunder off the GH3 launch.

I'd say just one song announcement: the final guitar song. Something to directly pull people away from GH. Something to make the GH3 buyers say "man, I wish I could play that song". Then BANG, RB steal GH3 sales.

On the other hand...

"Here I am, finishing up the main guitar career, whilst conveniently narrating aloud... hmm, Rock and Roll?"

"Wait, ROCK AND ROLL?"

"HOLY ****ING **** INSIDE A ****ING BARREL OF AWESOME ****!"

And then after word gets out, they get a second wave of people buying it, because, seriously, LED ZEPPELIN.

1) I'd want to announce that BEFORE the kids with a small gaming budget buy GH3, so they can decide they'd rather play Zep.

2) Supply is going to (probably) be really tight throughout the holiday season. They shouldn't be depending on a second wave of buying.

3) Why would they hide a selling point? If people would really buy the game just for Zep, they should be parading it around as soon and as often as possible.
