Probably asked already. Sorry in advance.
I don't remember reading this in any "official" news, but I recall reading it in a forum post or two...
Me and my girlfriend will be playing through the Band World Tour, but we'd ideally like to switch between playing guitar and drums. Is this not a possibility?
If so, that kinda blows. And also if so, can you tell me where this was confirmed?

HMXSean says no.
*sniff*
Edit: Can't remember where... somewhere in a long BWT thread, I think.

...You serious? Just get up and swap the intruments IRL... Not like it really matter what the game thinks. Unless you play on different difficulties, then it won't really work for you.

I thought the same thing but I didn't want to jump to conclusions. Maybe he means the chars in game? Maybe if they wanted to switch from there instrument to bass or vocal?

Yeah, that could also be a problem. As for the chars in the game. Who really cares? It's not like you actually look at them while you play. Now if it were online that'd be a bit different. You still don't look at them but you want to show everyone how "cool" your guy looks.

Why don't you just recreate your character as a Guitarist if you are a Drummer? Then you have the "same" character and are able to switch instruments. It's not rocket science.

Worst case you could just physically switch instruments with your partner. (since BWT is local only anyway) Sure, you might be a guy playing a girl character or vice versa, but that's just for looks anyway. :D

The only thing is whether or not you can switch the difficulty in between different set lists. I know that many of the people I have over play on much lower difficulties than I...

The thing about physically swapping is that if you started Vocals and Guitar, you couldn't then play Drums and Vocals, or Drums and Guitar. Not allowing instrument changes is one of the odder decisions in my opinion (Realism over Fun?).

I vaguely remember one of the previews saying that you could transfer a character for the single player careers into BWT, so if you wanted to change instruments you would just have to create a different characters for each instrument you wanted to play.
i.e. 1 singer, 1 guitarist and 1 drummer and swap them around in the band roster depending on what you wanted to do.
*btw been lurking around here for ages and finally decided to take the plunge, so hello everyone :p *

You would need one character to be a constant though as the Band Leader always needs to be present to do a BWT.

I forgot about that :( Guess I'll keep my fingers crossed that the leadership can be changed mid game, that or someone will be stuck with the same instrument for the whole tour

You could just do 2 entirely different world tours.
That way u can both play each instrument on every songs.
