Will the game still use a phoneme detector as reported early on in the dev cycle?
I haven't seen any evidence of this at all.

only certian songs use it. Some people know which ones I haven't been keeping up. My guess is songs with more of a spoken nature than singng. Sabotage maybe?

Yeah, Sabotage will be entirely Phoneme driven, and other songs, like Epic, will use phoneme detection in the spoken rap parts.

So is the idea that during those parts pitch will not be a factor?

That's the idea. Just get the words and rhythm down, and you'll be golden.

I've seen videos where the lyrics are still scrolling and the pitch lines go away, so it seems you are correct. But I don't know if the phoneme detection kicks in elsewhere.

Yeah, this was news that really surprised me. I thought both would work together so that during all songs, you would be required to get both lyrics and pitch correct.
I would be curious (Sean if you're out there), whether this is a result of technology limitation or done intentionally for game play reasons.

you can tell. watch sabotage and you'll see the begining lyrics are phenome. most of the others songs aren't
