The Simpsons Game Loses 'Grand Theft Scratchy'

The Simpsons Game from Electronic Arts hasn't been shy about poking fun at fellow game conventions, and a while ago we reported that Rockstar had its feathers ruffled by the parody. Lead designer Greg Rizzer commented that "if we make fun of Grand Theft Auto, we're not going to hurt the sales of Grand Theft Auto... But yeah, we've definitely had some reactions -- we've had to pull stuff from the game."

That's a spot-on description, as we found this weekend that the trailer previously devoted to the "Grand Theft Scratchy" parody has now been retitled to the infinitely less clever "Mob Rules," confirming that Grand Theft Auto was one of the casualties caused by lack of a sense of humor. Otherwise, the trailer looks untouched, so it seems that the title was the major problem and not the parody game content itself.

Rockstar does have a point -- it's not as if they've ever used an existing work as inspiration for satire. Oh wait (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0086250/)...

Thats so silly, if anything something made fun of by the Simpsons could only make it more popular. Rockstar is taking things a bit too seriously.

Besides the fact that Grand Theft Auto has been popular for what seems like forever, I doubt one joke could do anything to that reputation.

That's amazing, Rock Star is always trying to push it to the edge. And now that they have someone doing a parody, not even trying to be harmful. They act like complete tight asses. That's a big 10 points loss for R* in my book, I thought they were a lot better than "Omg dey gunna b mak1ngz funz of us!"

man rockstar are such *******s! i mean they parody all these games, drinks, food, the list is endless in GTA but then the simpsons game comes along and parody's GTA and nooo rockstar has to put a stop to this when they are the ones parodying other games and stuff UGH!... oh well GTA is still a great series :d
