When this was first announced I was crazy about it and thought it would beat guitar hero 3 1000 times over. But after seeing the current setlist I don't like 1 song. (after they took out Welcome to the Jungle) Now I'm not saying the music is bad or anything but I personally don't like it (I listen to bands like slipknot, rise against, rage against the machine, System of a Down) so what songs does Rock Band have for people that like hard rock and metal?

So because you like crappy music you have to complain that the game is not good? If you don't like it buy Guitar Hero 3. That game has more than enough metal to satisfy a metal-head and has all of those bands except System of a Down.

And yes, I am a metalhead too. But, dislike RATM, SOAD, and most of all Slipknot.

Yeah, the song list in GH3 sounds more up your alley. However, keep an eye out for DLC; it's likely to have stuff that couldn't get into the disc for whatever reason.

Good Hard Rock = GNR, Twisted Sister, BOC

Good Metal = Iron Maiden, Sabbath, Judas Priest, Motorhead

I don't like your idea of Hard Rock/Metal.

Rage Against The Machine is music? Really?

Huh, coulda fooled me.

Anyways, if you can't appreciate the musical variety represented by the setlist, it's your loss.

I'm quite the metalhead myself (listening to stuff like Iron Maiden and Judas Priest) but I like and appreciate the variety of the music here. It's great to have many interests in music and not be narrowminded.

The game has quite abit of metal already, more classic metal would be great, but it's fine as is.

No point complaining, it's not going to change a thing right now

I'm sure metal DLC is high on their list. It's not a high reach. It's just that things with double bass aren't going to be that possible initially.

Whoa! Whoa! Whoa JQ. He never once talked down on any of the bands, so extend him the same courtesy. His post was very tasteful and never insulted any particular genre. He only stated he wanted more off what he liked. Take it easy.

You degrade RAtM and then mention Judas Priest? shame on you.

I apologize that I pointed out his bad taste in music. But if you can't find one song you like on a set list of 35 or so songs that cross among various genres that is very narrow-minded.

I'm not a fan of metal.

Classic Rock + Punk > All

I want to know what it is that brings out the worst in people when talking about music. It suppose to a universal language but everyone here takes it personal when someone else doesn't like their personal selections. Why don't you people just get over it and realize that others aren't going to like everything you like and vice versa. No need to insult them over it. Especially this guy. He posted nothing insulting or rude and you just blew up on him.

Is it that time of the month?

Obivously everyone is entitled to their opinion and free to express it, but it could have been done with a little more respect. I will be the first to admit that I've done the same, but haven't done it in a long time and try to stray away from such doucebaggery.

Perhaps. :p lol jk.

Just once I wanted to know what it felt like to be Battle_Axe_of_Doom. :D

I don't bash people for liking music. I've never gone into an MCR or emo thread and insulted someone but I just can't fathom not liking one of those songs. It was more him disliking everything rather than what he liked that irked me.

Thats understandable. But I would try to recommend that he actually listen to them. Obviously he is uneducated about these selections. Hell, I can't fathom anyone not liking one single track on the game as well.

Ummmm...... yeah?

The talentless hacks in RATM can not hold a candle to those who single-handedly (yes, single-handedly) revived metal as a valid form of music during the late 70's.

Judas Priest ensured that metal could continue when it was dying off during the late 70's and early 80's. Black Sabbath kicked Ozzy and faded into obscurity, Ozzy himself was lying up in some hotel getting so wasted he couldn't even function for days on end, and most other "heavy metal" (although I wouldn't class them as heavy metal, more heavy rock) acts were facing declining numbers or deaths in the band forcing an end.

Priest ensured that metal continued into the 80's with songs like "Breaking The Law" and "Living After Midnight". I firmly believe that the musical landscape wouldn't be anywhere near where it is today without them.

Glenn Tipton, Rob Halford, K.K. Downing, and Ian Hill are all amazingly talented artists (Well.... maybe Ian is a bit of a stretch as his basslines are kind of bland, but he does hold everything together) who write socially relevant material.

On top of all of this listen to the music behind everything, you'll hear very intricate chord changes and amazing guitar work.

I can't pick a single thing out of RATM song because of all of the noise. It's a mess, plain and simple.

Sorry, this is the way I feel.

I agree that RB is lacking in the metal/punk department, and I disagree with some of the choices they've made in the 'hard rock' department (Hole? Please. ). I DO think that there will be more metal/punk songs featured in DLC and perhaps a couple more in-game. I'd kill to see some Sex Pistols, Iron Maiden, or (good) modern metal, honestly.

You might consider not buying RB on it's release date and waiting a month or two to see what kind of DLC is offerred. If they've got a good amount of stuff you like, you might consider getting the game. If you still dislike the song list, then forget about the game.

shame on you...

though i do think they held back a bit with what they could do until audioslave was formed.

You may not like the setlist for it but just bear in mind that they will be releaseing tons od downloadable content. Someone of it is bound to spark your interest

*Groan* Another more metal thread.

Don't get me wrong. I like metal. GH deals with that genre very well. As someone wanting to play all the instruments on the game, I sure don't want to be doing metal vocals.

Personally, I think HMX are doing a great job with the tracks chosen, all of which will be great fun to play in a group (or BAND if you will). I can't help but think those banging on about metal are focusing on guitar only. Just a hunch.
