I just realized that on July 17th VH1, an MTV/Viacom company, will be honoring The Who. I'm just speculating that this would be a particularly good week for HMX, an MTV/Viacom company, to release a significant pack of songs featuring The Who.

Sorry if this has been mentioned before but this sites search function is horrible.

If "Who's Next" album couldn't be released, then a special pack should be better.

i made that same connection myself not too long ago....i am definitely expecting some of The Who's songs to be released then. I'm hoping a sixpack featuring "My Generation" "Magic Bus" "Pinball Wizard" and then "Baba O'Riley" "Behind Blue Eyes" and "Bargain" from "Who's Next?" However, if we are getting "Who's Next?" - Then replace those songs with "Who Are You?" "Love, Reign O'er Me" and "5:15" or maybe "Happy Jack" or maybe "Pictures of Lily" or maybe "Boris the Spider"...

I'm so excited.

I wouldn't expect anything... if it happens, just be happy and pretend like you didn't know:p

Long as I don't end up having to use my guitar to play a synthesizer thing on Baba O'Riley (the first minute), it'd be awesome. Pinball wizard would own me, since I kinda suck at strumming fast and keeping a streak.

We "should" expect it...but whether we get it or not is another question.

I think it is extremely likely that we will finally get the Who on July 14 because not only is it VH1 rock honors week but it is also the week of E3. I dunno, but I think that we are getting something very large from the Who, with the delay and all. Remember the CEO said that some bands will be getting discographies, he was hinting towards the Who in that interview, and also he said that Who fans will be extremely happy about what they plan to do... If I can find the interview, I'll post it.

You guys do realize that the masters for Baba O' Riley (along with the rest of the first side of Who's Next are missing causeing the delay in the release of the album. To the effect if we are getting a six pack don't expect Baba, Bargain, or any other Side 1 songs.

The Who is performing at the Rock Honors show, and have been performing and recording for a number of years. It is possible that they have rerecorded theses songs already. Yes I realize that it will not be the original members but it you can only hope it would be at least as good as a cover.

True, but there is always a copy of the master tapes. It's common sense to make a copy in case the original is destroyed.

There's always the chance that we'll get the actual Rock Honors show as DLC, although I'd imagine it'd be a month or so after the fact.

No, there aren't copies. The masters were taken from the vaults some time before 1995, and the only copies have it separated to "synth" and "everything else."

Interestingly, someone with a Who DVD noticed in a special feature that they seem to have the masters for My Wife, but not Getting In Tune, which is awesome because 1. Daltry is alive and Entwhistle isn't, and 2. My Wife is a great song and getting in tune is only great in that it sounds like Pure and Easy at the end. It's the main thread where we first learned about this, do a search here.

Well I think HMX would try to make it as affordable as possible considering how long we have had to wait for this. I doubt that a whole discography is actually gonna happen considering the Who have way too many albums, but I do think that we will see a substantial amount of their songs. I personally hope Tommy would be included because that would be freaking awesome.

Should we expect it? Yes

Is there any chance we'll get it? MAGIC 8 BALL SAYS: Try Again Later because if it was coming and they were releasing something BIG they'd announce it for sure (to give people time to listen to all the songs, etc). So I wouldn't bank on getting it.
