Now that I have your attention!
Anyone here notice the fine print on the GHIII demo?
".....Activision authorizes use of this guitar hero game only in combination with a guitar hero controller provided by activision or a standard game controller provided with a game console..."
(sorry for the fuzzy attachment, I run off a projector. Low light sux for cameras)
Boy those other game people just don't like to play along! Did they have this on GHII? I wonder if Gibson made them put this in?
Hey HMX folk, have you tried the demo yet with the strat? Your more than welcome to swing by my place after Amherst and bring rock band with you.:D
Looks like I'll be ... BREAKIN THE LAW, BREAKIN THE LAW!! So much for the Golden future!

I saw that too. I think it's funny. It doesn't even say they support 3rd Party Guitars.

I feel like that is more to cover themselves in case a 3rd party guitar controller doesn't work with the game. Rather than them saying you shouldn't use anything but their guitar controller, although I'm sure they kind of want that as well.

Looking at the other forums, there are some people complaining that their third party controllers that worked with GH1 don't work with GH2 or GH3 demo. I can't find anyone saying that thier non-activision controller works with the demo.
I hope they don't block the strat since is the best plastic guitar out there. The gibsons are too plain looking. Even if they are wireless.

This whole controller issue is out of control, compatability this ,compatability that,to you can't use this unautherized controller for that. They should just cancle the game altogether {GHIII} and jump off a bridge! They are all gonna get rich off of you and me anyway,RIGHT.Greedy mofo's feuding with each other for what? Our LOYALTY to who?F'N pissen me off,Each cosole should have a standerd controller cofig for this new big music genre, that is mandatory for each 3rd party to follow....AAAHHhhhhh this is driving me mad!!!!!!!

My 3rd party Simpsons one works with GH 1,2 and 80's. It also says compatible with all Guitar Hero games so if it doesn't work with GH 3 (if I get it on PS2) I'll bring it back.

How are they supposed to know that it works with Guitar Hero III before its release?
That's kind of strange reasoning you have going there. "If the controller I have already that says works with all GH games doesn't work with this newest one that has been built from scratch and only holds the slightest similarities to the original 4 GH games I'm going to return it".
See the insanity in your reasoning? When they say "works with all GH games" they don't mean throughout all time. They mean all that have been released so far. If it works with future games, bonus. But if it doesn't, it's not false advertising.
I'm willing to bet that your controller will not work, just knowing the way Red Octane has been recently.

It's probably a marketing decision on behalf of the GH3 developers. By excluding RB controllers from their game, they force people to buy their controllers if they want to play multiplayer games (offline).
Harmonix have the right idea, if you ask me. By making Rock Band compatible with the Guitar Hero controllers, they can convince more people to get their game, even if they just buy the game itself, without any other instruments/controllers.

They don't, but they still guaranteed it, so it's that company's marketing department's fault. That's what they get for saying "all Guitar Hero games".
If they won't take it back/update it or otherwise fix the problem, you could always take them to small claims court. You'd have a pretty good case to any judge (Says it works with the game, doesn't work with the game, faulty product), and the company probably won't even show up, meaning you should get a default judgment in your favor.

guarantee their is some fine print in there that says "only current releases". No company would be stupid enough to ensure compatibility for games that aren't even out yet.

The company could countersue and cause the case to move to the locality of the corporate, though, and then you'd lose.
Also, the statement "All Guitar Hero games" was made on date X. GH3 was released on date Y. The statement, then, does not include date Y, and one must infer that the meaning of said statement implies "All Guitar Hero games <I>made on or before date X</I>."
Sorry. You would not win in small claims court with this.

Rock Band was smart in only in launching bundles to make sure the strat gets out there. Think about it: most people already have at least one controller from GHII and they probably are getting the GHIII guitar since it will be out first and is wireless (for all those 360 owners).
But you can't purchase just the game and get the drums seperate if you already have two guitars so they are forcing the full Bundle on everyone that wants the full experience. Im sure if they ramped up production on just the drums and mics they could have sold a drum/mic bundle and it would have sold like crazy, but it would have also been much less money and everyone would miss out on the strat switch and solo buttons.

Bingo! Claim was made on Date X and was valid on that date. You are not going to win any kind of action against the company.
In fact any decent Judge is going to laugh you right out of Court over the ridiculous notion that a claim on a box has to be valid throughout eternity and across every concievable circumstance.
Is it compatible with GHII 360? If it's not then that claim is already invalidated. However, you'll never win a motion in regards to that point either

My Flying V required a $10 adapter to play GHII.
