Does anyone knows if the patch to make the guitar from Guitar Hero compatible with Rock band will ever come out or Activision just wont let that happen?

Cuz I think everyone with Rock band on PS3 wants to be able to play in the four players mode

PS: I think System of a Down songs should be for download

Neither HMX nor Activision want you to use your XPlorer with RockBand.
The patch will never see the light of day.

They sell standalone guitars for $60, and should be pretty readily available.

I bought a Nyko Frontman Wireless. It was $50 at Game Stop and works for Guitar Hero III also

That's total crap. First off, there isn't an Xplorer for the PS3, second off, if Harmonix didn't want you to use GH guitars then why did they bother to write the patch to begin with? Activision is the only company that protested the patch, period.

You can buy a stratocaster individually or purchase one of the third party guitars that are compatible with both games that have started coming out.

Just buy the adapter from TAC and use your GH1 or GH2 guitar. It's like $25 after tax and shipping, and it's awesome.

no the les paul will not work. it will on 360 (as well as xplorers), but not for ps3. frankly, its a smart mve on activisions part from a marketing standpoint cuz it means less ppl will buy rock band while help to promote their own gh world tour set.

double edge sword though, you have less buying rock band, since they would need to add a new controller which means instead of 60 its 60 plus cost of guitar, yet at the same time those who now buy a rock band controller are giving extra cash to the competition.

the two go against one another and in the end, it is only the consumer who loses out....

It also serves as a deterant for new customers to buy into the genre. It's like a format war, no one wants to buy into the losing side so no one buys into either side at all until it is clear that there is one single format. It's pretty much a situation where NO ONE wins, Activision is just in a position where they're likely to lose less than everyone else.

Basically, and what Activision is hoping for is that Harmonix will lose enough to drop out of the market. Leaving Guitar Hero as the only game in town (hooray for monopolies ).
