It seems like there is a quota for female-led songs, but as it stands now, rock band is lacking in that dept. I submit a few humble suggestions for kickin' lady licks.
Jefferson Airplane - Somebody to Love
Blondie - Call Me
Joan Jett - Don't Give a Damn About My Reputation
Heart - Barracuda
Pat Benatar - Heart Breaker
Sahara Hotnights - Keep up the Speed
The Breeders - Cannonball
Elastica - Never There
Republica - Ready to Go
I'm sure I'm leaving out some good ones. Any thughts?

The one i want most is Paramore "Misery Business"
it would be really fun to play...plus we need more happy, peppy, uptempo party songs. Not that the hard rock is band (it is Rock Band afterall) but this is also a party game and, while i love the Coheed song...it isnt really a party song.

Good call with the Benatar
I definately prefer Sahara Hotnights to the Donnas, though.

Agreed on the party song aspect. I hadn't heard Paramore before. Good song.

Yes to more Heart! Also, Bif Naked would be decent, not really into a lot of her new stuff, but have one of her earlier CDs round here somewhere. Also was thinking Drain STH would be good too, or L7, for a bit of chick metal.

Heart is a must, preferably Kick It Out or Magic Man, although I forget how the drum track goes in the latter.

I'd like to add:
The Pretenders (anything by them. Although I think I REALLY want "Precious")
and
The Donnas (Anything off of "Spend The Night")

I agree with Paramore. I am a big fan and just hope that any of their songs make it in Rock Band.

bjork dominates the other three horrible bands you listed, but she would be absolutely horrid for this game
the gathering would be much much better for this game

Hayley has an awesome voice, and I definitely agree about Paramore. However that song is such a girl song... I'd probably sing it anyway but I'd feel like an idiot doing it. "Pressure", "Emergency", "For A Pessimist, I'm Pretty Optimistic", or "Crushcrushcrush" would be great, though.

I second that.
Tragic Kingdom is an awesome album and very instrument balanced. I would love to see the entire thing avail as DLC.

I think it's a valid point (although my girlfriend is goign to kick ass at Iron Maiden vocals) but we don't want to get the game bogged down in wimpy karaoke standards. So, here's some suggestions for songs with female vocals that the less rawk-inclined ladies could sing that don't totally suck:
Carly Simon - You're So Vain
Awesome bass intro, Mick Jagger on back-up vocals, cowbell, great drum build-up to the chorus and it actually has a pretty decent guitar solo.
YouTube (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=DWQREs4f_oE)
Patti Smith - Gloria
One of the greatest of her works - second only to that song with the title that'll get you banned from the forum - but Patti's deconstructed reworking of the Van Morrison's classic is awesome - great vocals, pounding drums, huge build-up great interplay between the guitar and drums.
YouTube (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=7mIsN2JHPds)
Neko Case - Hold On, Hold On
Great picked guitar intro, awesome Mark Knopfler-inspired lead electric guitar, kickass lyrics, smoking guitar solo (better on the album that in this live version), decent drums. Also, she's an amazing vocalist. Also, check out that gorgeous Gibson SG:
YouTube (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=50dzxkJa1NE)
PJ Harvey - 50 Ft Queenie
just incredibly awesome - wicked bass intro, huge guitars and drums - this is such a kickass song, and the lyrics would be really fun both genders:
