In all the videos and screen shots i have seen it shows all players note charts, i was curios if when playing online if i am gonna see their notes or just mine? i think its all but just wanted a confirmation. And if i will see them all, why whould they do that, i have small TV and its gonna be so hard to play when i got three note charts going by and a pitch thing for singing on the top

I'm pretty sure it's all. You just won't hear the vocalist. (but you will see what they "hit").

I've never heard of any worthwhile online game where you don't see what the other players are doing at all.

You may see what they are doing.... but from your view point.

Not gonna have the 16 miniscreens when you play a FPS or the 1000's of avatars when you play an MMO.

It would make a lot more sense just to see your fretboard when playing online. Seeing them as a band member would be enough.

I don't remember anyone saying if the note charts were visible on remote players. I know you will hear the other players' mistakes, and I know you will see the vocalist's performance, but I'm not sure about note charts.

No, im pretty sure you will see it. Or at least an approximation of what theyre hitting, calculated to be as right as possible. Or at least that's probably how it will work, how else can they get around the lag?

Here's a look of what online play looks like:

You can see from this picture that the drum player is local, the guitarists are remote. The charts are visible from the remote guitarists, but are "grayed" a bit to place less emphasis on them. In this case, there doesn't appear to be any vocalist (otherwise there would be a microphone emblem on the "rock meter" thing on the left).

I assume that your console will display the miss at the next possible opportunity. So if there's 100ms of lag, the note 100ms after what they missed will show up as missed for you.

The lead is grayed but not the bass.
I know we see them all, just judging from all the screen and such. Nut i just wanted some confirmation, though really if we dident see them it would make online lonley lol.

No, they are both grayed out - look at the transparency of the fret board, the lead notes are just playing the silver 'overdrive' notes

Why doesn't anyone ever embed?

Because that pic is 1280px wide! Even if you're running in 1280x1024 on your comp it will STILL cause you to have horizontal scroll and messes up the thread. 800px is almost alright, but it is a huge picture, and that's why people don't embed.

Sounds like...errr...a lot of work.

Abridged:
It's a big picture, and that messes with people's browsers, so most people don't embed big pics.

My tiny, shėtty, PSP browser does fine. Maybe for 56k but I thought 56ker worked around that by now.

Actually they're both semi-transparent. The only reason the lead appears to be "greyed" is because they're playing through an overdrive section where the notes are all white.

ETA: Bah, that's what I get for responding before reading the whole thread...

Your browser parses it correctly because it crushes everything down. Your standard web browser keeps it at 1280px wide, which is the same as your average screen resolution. The forums then add padding to the sides of this, meaning now everyone has to scroll sideways to post anything here.

Just a common courtesy part of the internet. I won't argue it anymore with you.

Alright. For the record I'm not upset or arguing. Just trying to get the big deal. I too have to scroll.

Yeah, sorry about that. I noticed the transparency on both sides and (since the image was larger than a browser window) I thought that they both were (not noticing that it was overdrive notes).

Anyway, note charts from remote players are translucent, but you still see them.

And Xzyliac, I didn't post the image inline because it sucks when the forum layout breaks from posting a big image inline. ;) Some forum software applications auto-thumb large images, but sadly this isn't one of them.

Okay I understand. I'm easy, I'll take it down if it's buggin'. Not *****ing about it. Just don't get it. I kind of prefer it. Just me.

GameTrailers has a good Tom Sawyer vid and IGN drums on expert.
