We Want Fun!: The official Andrew WK Thread!

So, i checked the thread of threads, and what do i notice?
no Andrew WK! Why do we need Andrew?
Playing his songs with your friends, rocking out, would be tons of fun, singing along, and having fun is what rock band is all about. Some concessions would have to be made, like the piano/keyboard being charted to the bass for some radical keytar action. maybe a tambourine section for the singer where you hit the microphone on your head? the possibilities are endless.

This is absolutely the kind of thing I would love to see in Rock Band. Andrew WK has the perfect party attitude for this sort of thing, and I imagine his more notable tracks like Party Hard and She is Beautiful would be known by a wide enough audience to draw attention.

You Will Remember Tonight (http://www.imeem.com/people/E33wWt/music/7W-CEUcY/andrew-wk-you-will-remember-tonight/) is another one of the songs I have to mention~ it's one of the songs off of Close Calls With Brick Walls, the album that was only released in Japan or something because of legal issues. It has a really awesome guitar solo~ would be sweet to play

My favorites off of Close Calls were "I Want Your Face" and "Let's Go on a Date," which easily beat most of The Wolf and even I Get Wet, in my opinion.

Actually, I was the best man at a wedding where the groom's brother sent a letter to Andrew WK asking if he could bless the wedding and AWK sent in a video of himself playing a song he wrote for them at the piano with both the bride and groom's names referenced several times. Talk about treating your fans well...

I think Rock Band should be all about the fun. AWK is certainly that. I'd probably get all DLC offered. I think there needs to be more fun music in RB, that's why I'm requesting loads of hair metal songs, but I think I'll add some AWK too.

i have no clue how exactly this could extend to receiving DLC from those albums, but i'd be INCREDIBLY surprised if AWK has the clout to personally push for those songs...

hopefully he has more control over everything he's released since then on smaller labels (from what i understand, he can't even release CD's in american which is why his most recent albums have been vinyl-only or released overseas).

i'm going to be in touch with laura from load records (they put out the vinyl version of "close calls"), and i'll ask if she thinks there's any chance that material might be available.

it's unfortunate the RBN has the "no covers" policy, since so many of his "japan covers" would be really fun to play.

I sent him a few notifications on the RBN, right when it was announced, but I'm not sure the likely hood of him considering them is good, but one can hope that things are patched up with the record company.

most of "the wolf" would translate just as easily and would be a bit more in-depth, and several songs from "CCwBW" would be great.

the upcoming american release of "close calls with brick walls" (along with bonus album "mother of mankind") is being issued on steev mike records so perhaps the time is finally coming for some AWK DLC, though i imagine many will complain since "party hard" and "she is beautiful" likely wouldn't be included.

Btw guys, new EP came out in Japan with 7 tracks. New full length album soon, party oriented of course. Feels a little bit too electronic to me, but it should be considered normal since Andrew invested so much in the japanese market due to all kind of reasons.

Still hoping that 1 day, yeah baby, the king of party will join the music game made for party.
