I am on the phone currently with Xbox Repair Service...apparently their console they sent me likes to get lock up happy. Im having this one sent back...I am not a happy customer...

That sux dude. I've seen stories of that happening to people. M$ will "fix" your console, then send it back, who knows what they actually did to it in the first place.

And for a replacement console I've read that they'll "fix" and return the same one at least 4 times until you finally get an actual new system.

Hopefully you're up and running 30 days from now.

Im not a person to be toyed with...and right now I am being toyed with, by the biggest f*cking corporation in America. This is pathetic, they set aside billions for repairs...f*ck it, if I am having problems again Microsoft, SEND ME A BRAND NEW CONSOLE!!! ITS NOT ROCKET SCIENCE! I am livid right now. I didnt even get to start a race in the NFS: Pro Street demo and it froze up on me. I thought it was just my copy of The Orange Box at first, but now I realize that its my damn console! This is bullsh*t.

My console was locking up right before I got the red ring.

I have it back now, and yesterday I got an error e-67 or some ****, that is a hardware error according to their website. It hasnt happened again, but if I have to send it in for repairs, it has to be soon, so I get it for RB...uugh

I can go without gaming for as long as it takes for a full functional non-problematic system. I dont care if it takes me till 2010, I just want a properly working console...Apparently thats too much to ask from a multi-billion dollar corporation.

Why not get a PS3 then?....I'm not trying to start a console war, its just a sugestion based on your comment.

You probably <I>like</I> your Xbox, you just want it to work; it's not just that you want <B>a</B> system to work, so much as you want <B>your</B> system to work, right?

DShiz1029
10-23-2007, 03:22 AM
This is true. Monetarily I have money invested into it what would be not worth it to just start fresh. I love Xbox, the entire experience is amazing, and I just want MY Xbox to function so that I get more enjoyment out of it. However, I dont know what I am to do if this new repair f*cks up on me again. I might just retire from gaming, sell everything and buy new camera stuff.

Yeah if you don't have money you can't really go switching consoles unless they give you the money back *snicker*

Demand that they give you something free, whether it be a game or some microsoft points or something.

They probably just sent you back a refurbished one. They thought they fixed whatever was wrong with it and just slapped the console back together.

This sucks cause you're a cool guy and you kept talking about beating Portal and now you can't. :( Hope you get it back soon.

If my repaired one breaks, i'm gonna do the ol' walmart switcheroo.

FallenAce

A friend of mine just did that. Got a free HDMI port out of the deal.

thorn_9
10-23-2007, 03:32 AM
What's the walmart switcheroo?

DShiz1029
10-23-2007, 03:34 AM
I really appreciate everyone's support during this blood boiling time. Yeah I would love to beat Portal. That game is sheer genius, and I love being a part of it. Honestly, I dont care about a free game, or free Microsoft Points...All I care about is a working Xbox. It would be nice if sent me a 360 Elite, but that would only happen in my wildest dreams. The harsh reality is this, Microsoft doesnt really give all that much of a rats ass and they are half assing repairs. Then they wonder why they get so many of them back a second or third time around, yet they just continue the vicious cycle till the costumer either quits or buys a brand new console. I dont work right now, because with my school schedule my life revolves around school and the free time I have is either gaming, shooting my art work, or hanging out with friends. I am a BFA degree seeking artist who cannot afford to take a trip to Gamestop and buy a new Xbox.

10-23-2007, 04:01 AM
Ight man, This is what you do. Call up ol' M$ and tell them they're huge **** ups. And you DEMAND something free, just like the above post. Personally I'd go with an Elite. If they just keep sending you a **** console just pull the walmart glitch. Oh and while you're talking to microsoft say "Ok so you're sending me a new system? Ok great, I'll smack my ****ing cock against this one until it gets here because I'm ****ing missing out on online matches!"

Speaking of on-line matches, you should AT LEAST get a month free of XBL. My friend's xbox messed up and he's getting a month free.

DShiz1029
10-23-2007, 04:04 AM
Lol, what the eff is this Walmart glitch people keep speaking of?

FallenAce
10-23-2007, 04:12 AM
You can go buy a 360 at walmart and just swap the console and take it back. apparently they don't scan the serial number so they don't know any better. although the guy i know swapped the top half of the case just to be sure.

SmokaCola
10-23-2007, 04:15 AM
Go buy a new 360 from walmart, same kind you have now. Probably have a pro so just get a pro. Don't open the games if it's bundled with games atm. Once you get it, put the old non working console in it and sent it back. They usually never check the box at walmart well... because 1 it's walmart, and 2 they're lazy. It's pretty risky though and changing serial numbers is illegal so I really don't suggest it. But it's definitely a way to get a working one.

Unless of course you get a system that was just like yours and some kid did the same trick :p

Ah, it involves purchasing a new one...plus I have a core unit. So I think they are just going to keep sending me refurbed cores...Third strike and I am going to be nasty to Microsoft.

Let me know how that works out for you. Seriously, they aren't going to be that persuaded by a phone call. And if they've set aside a budget for repair, then they need to utilize it and repair them correctly.

Maybe its time for some one to refile a class action suit....

You know...I just thought about this just now...

Ok my birthday is in less than a week. My mom is giving me some nice cash. I think I will just hold off on getting an external flash for my camera, since I mainly use natural lighting anyway, and I will go buy a 360 Elite and just save the hassle of waiting another month for another POS refurb...

SmokaCola
10-23-2007, 04:33 AM

Yep, It's kinda bad though if you think about it. All those kids getting ****ty systems just because wal-mart is a **** up. Ah well, guess that teaches them not to buy a system from wal-mart. That's stupid anyways, I get all my systems from gaming stores (EBGames,GameStop,Rhinos,Plug-N-Play) Whicher one I'm closer to that day and has a warranty :p

DShiz1029

Yeah bro, I'd say hold off on buying the Elite first. Make sure the one they send back is working. And hell if it does, you can just trade that in to EB games or sell it on Ebay or something. Then get the Elite, or just use that core. Do you even have a HD on your core?

Yeah, it's what happens when you go with M$ though. They have so much money they could care less if 1 person doesn't buy their product. I think it's bull **** how the customer service with it is. I'm glad PS3 people don't have to go through and. And i'm more than happy I have had that amazing chance to call customer service yet.

DShiz1029
10-23-2007, 04:50 AM
To SmokaCola:
Yes I have a HD on my Core. What I could do is find someone who has a core and borrow their little data transfer cable thingie...Trade in my core with the old HD and use that credit for something nice. I just need to find a way to tell that I am getting a 360 with the new chipset.

To Ibanez: Thanks homie. It is sad that I have to resort to this, but I think it will be better in the long run. I will have a much better built 360 and all that jazz. Im gonna get a new warranty with it for sure though.

FallenAce
10-23-2007, 05:27 AM
Yeah, it's what happens when you go with M$ though.

Please don't just start saying MS sucks. The machines shouldn't fail, I agree, but neither should my car have popped a coil and broken down 98 miles outside of town, and there was no extended warranty on my engine.

I'm not trying to belittle your pain. DShiz, that sucks, and I feel for you. I used to work for MS, and I know from every angle what it is to deal with MS customer service. But I swear if I run across another thread that turns into a bash-MS deal, I'm gonna flip out: realultimatepower style.

By the by, that transfer cable is free. You get a code when you get an elite or 120GB HDD to put into the MS website and they mail you the cable.

I hope this doesn't offend anyone, as it's not meant as an attack on anybody, smokacola included. I just really, really can't tolerate this attitude.

I can understand how you would get upset from that but I didn't mean it to offense of M$ or their employees. First off, your car is just 1 of many. If every car from the company you got it from, either it be Chevy, Ford, Lamborghini started to blow engines left and right for no reason. There is no way you can sit there and tell me the system/car was made poorly. It just isn't debatable man. M$ rushed the system and it was made very poorly.

The newer systems (new pros and elites) are built very well and have new chip sets in them. The problem today is most kids are stupid enough to get a system from wal-mart and they end up with a ****ty system that some kid did the "glitch" with. Then their experience is ruined and they officially hate xbox. I for one, got my 360 last year and it's been running great for me. I don't know how that happened, but I am very thankful it's running properly seeing as how I don't have the money to replace it.

It's not totally their fault, unless they knew that it wasn't stable enough and just wanted to get it out before the PS3 and Wii. The 360 is a good system no doubt, but with so many people reporting that it is having RRoD problems and such it's just really not looking good for their console at the moment.

DShiz1029
10-23-2007, 07:09 AM
FallenAce...youve made me feel 1000 times better by saying that cable is free with the Elite. I have wanted an Elite since they were released, and now I have an opportunity to get one. Thanks. I love you all *group hug*

I got my core during the post release scarcity. I never knew it would turn out to be a mistake with so many first gen's dying, and the refurbs being half-assed. I am better off getting a brand new Xbox (from my Gamestop) and just starting fresh in that sense. I can get an Elite finally, therefore I will be happy.

I didnt mean for this thread to start any kind of console war. I was just upset with my Xbox's failure and I think its complete doo doo that anyone who invests that much money into a system from a corporation that almost runs this country to have to deal with the lameness of the whole situation. When you rush, things fail.

I still love the Xbox no matter what.

I really hope you aren't comparing vehicles to gaming consoles! That is just way out of proportion.

Vehicles are under way more harsh conditions that include higher temperatures and weather. Along with user error. If you have your 360 outside or in harsh conditions, you deserve to have it break down on you.

Do you take care of your vehicle? Preventive maintenance can prevent things like this. But comparing cars to consoles is way out of the margin of comparison.

I am not waiting till my third, thats out of the question. My new plan is buy a brand new Elite, get the old refurb back from Microsoft, then trade it in for credit that will probably help me afford most of Rock Band.

I was actually referencing the warranty.

In that case, auto manufacturers still have certain areas that may be covered under "warranty" so to speak. Via recalls, TSB's (Technical Service Bulletins), or FSA's (field service actions). Especially if its a known concern and reoccurring problem. In that case the auto maker takes care of that responsibility for the consumer.

This should be the case for Microsoft, but they seem rather unwilling to correct this issue to 100% satisfaction for the consumer. That my friend is where the bull**** comes in to play.

If there is a extended service plan, then you should go with that. Its a sad part of life, your vehicle will break down, but 90% of the time not within 3-6 months after a purchase. Unlike the 360. To boot, no reason has been given on why the problem exist. It just does.

ok so whats going on here is you sent your 360 in for repairs and the new one they gave you sucked?? ok i'm having the same problem so tell me what you did and what THEY did to help you out. my 360 got the red lights in the middle of some gears but it works fine now but we all know its gonna die one of these days.

DShiz1029
10-23-2007, 09:25 AM
My refurb system they sent back to me started freezing up at random points during my gaming experience with any game. It started with The Orange Box, which I thought my first copy of TOB, but after I got a new copy it did the same thing, then The Darkness, then the NFS: Pro Street Demo. Called Xbox Tech, got some dude who hardly spoke a lick of English, hes sending me another coffin, yadda yadda you know the end of the story.

So this is where I am done, a new door of opportunity has opened up for me to get the Elite which I have lusted over since its release, and I am going to take this opportunity.

My only thing now is, I was on the Xbox forum, and people's Elites have sh*t out...but only a certain lot number. Which kinda scares me.

battle_axe_of_doom
10-23-2007, 09:40 AM
so all you're doing though with microsoft is making them send you a new one?? did you get angry and **** and did they offer something for compensation or some kind of guarantee that they're sending you a NEW 360??

i'm like how you were before, i have absolutely no cash with like 3 games i have to pay off (pre-orders) and can't afford to buy a new 360

I'm so scared to use my 360 now cause I'm afraid I'll burn it out before Rock Band. Thats bad when you gotta worry to use a 400$ piece of equipment.

DShiz1029
10-23-2007, 09:45 AM
I am generally calm with tech support, they are just compensating my time on Xbox Live is all. I am a very chill person in real life, it takes A LOT to really cause me to yell and scream at someone. This whole deal made me quite angry at first, but then I realized things will work out in the end, and they pretty much did. I am doing a little more research as we speak about lot numbers on Elites and which ones come with the better drives, and heatsinks and such. My mom thinks its foolish for me to buy a new one, but I dont think I am willing to retire from gaming just yet.

If you did i'd have to do you like the tetherball chick about Zep being in the game. Only you don't have boobs... So i'd have to punch you nuts around until they burst open with a thunderous crash of semen on an old woman's face. Would you really want to upset an old woman like that? lmao

Lol. I dont want to retire...there are way too many good titles coming out. Saint's Row 2...omg, I couldnt imagine myself doing that to myself. I am going to make that game...

I am just in a vulnerable state right now, the emotional tenderness is high. I am gonna be doing research all night tonight till I make myself sick on which lot number to look for when buying an Elite. I just want to the the perfect Elite with either the Hitachi or BenQ drive and the new heatsink. I will also be buying it from Best Buy as a matter of fact because I dont think Gamestop offers the replacement deal that Best Buy offers, but I will be trading in my new refurb to Gamestop and paying for most of Rock Band. I have it all planned out, just need to secure some research.

Edit: I just found out those new Falcon chipsets still wont be out for quite a while.
