here's an excerpt
And like the Radiohead frontman, we got to stroke the ailing ego by going solo with a quick jaunt through Solo Tour mode. Each instrument other than bass (sorry, McCartney) gets its own complete career mode, effectively creating three games in one. Using the game's character creator, we picked a hometown and tweaked faces, attitudes, physiques and hairstyles to build a fat, stone-jawed thrasher from Boston.
The in-game Rock Shop extends the customization by letting you purchase everything your aspiring band needs to get by, from new clothes and burly tattoos to capable managers and handy roadies. Unlike the Guitar Hero games, some of the goodies actually affect the gameplay. A more expensive manager can score better gigs, while a more reliable tour bus will allow you to travel further and play bigger shows in bigger towns. Goodbye Akron, hello Cleveland

Very interesting, though this article is from August 22nd. Honestly it's the first time I've read anything that in depth about the Solo Tour. I hope it's true. The only things they didn't mention were Rock Moments and Setlists. If Solo tour has everything short of those two things, I think people have a lot less to whine about.
But it is kind of an old article...

Sounds promising, we'll see, I don't see why they wouldn't try and make single player career more like the awesomeness that is BWT anyways.

Sounds good but I like to keep my head leveled and will just assume they mistook Solo Tour for BWT or mistyped it. Still though I don't want to put down anyones hopes because I'm hoping for it myself, so there's always a chance!

so if there has already been some information released on solo tour mode why wouldn't devs comment on the super frustration that was going on last week.

While people's frustration is very important to them in their world, the devs have a lot more important things going on right this second.
Besides, that article wasn't exactly an official announcement on what Solo Tour is going to be. It's possible they're still keeping that card a secret until closer to release. Gotta have something left to talk about after the songlist is out.

Lord oh Lord I hope Solo Tour is akin to BWT. I don't want a 1:1 copy, mind you, just some of the aspects. And really, with 41 venues in the game, how can Solo Tour not be similar to BWT? If they do the solo tour like the GH versions, then you're going to be playing one song per venue, and that just doesn't sound feasible. And with all the time and energy everybody's spent on the design and implementation of the venues, I doubt they'd restrict them just to those who play BWT.

well, he did say he spent an hour playing it.
i don't know why hmx just won't say, swt is similar to bwt. that's all that they need to type and everyone (especially me) will be happy.
now about antigrav 2.....

My assumption was always that hometown just determined your venues for a standard, GH-style career. We could all totally be wrong, though. Just don't twist this article to confirm your own theories and get pissed off next week. Nobody likes it when people do that ;)

if you read the excerpt, he clearly says solo tour mode.
don't worry, i'm not going to bank on it. i guess i'll just have to wait and see what happens.

Alternative theory given the date of the article: The reviewer was playing an earlier build of the game where they had BWT tour available to play single player for testing purposes, but it's not something we're going to see in the finished product.
Note, this is not an invitation to start beating the horse again.
That said, there's a dead horse over there that needs some attention...

That's exactly what I'm doing, it seems like everyone who could make a mistake, does when they are writing an article about Rock Band. I hope so much it is like BWT, but not getting my hopes up based on this article alone.

I don't think so..
by going solo with a quick jaunt through Solo Tour mode
Even mentioning lack of bass solo career
Then going on to say
Those more inclined to rock with friends can do all this and more in Band World Tour mode.
I guess we'll see....

I hold doubts. Magazine previews have gotten things completely bass ackwards in the past; typically they're given a scant hour or more with a preview build and cobble their article together before deadline based on their play through AND developer notes. It's very easy to mix BWT and Solo modes up, especially if you're just scanning HMX's bullet points and yanking out features to talk about.
I'm not gonna believe it's anything more than a setlist grinder until:
* A HMX dev confirms,
* We get a solid, non-ambiguous description of it from a news site, or
* I play the game and find out for myself.
I would love to be wrong about this. But I'm not gonna assume anything glorious at this stage.
