i'm sure harmonix will like the idea and hopefully they implement it.

have it where there are tons and tons of sound samples, clips, sounds, for the different instruments that people can "create" their own original songs and music. the software wil automatically put it in "playable" form. Also, these can be exported via mp3, etc. Just think about it, a whole new way of making music. new bands perhaps not from real instruments, but original songs and lyrics nonetheless.

for some basic examples of what i'm talking about

i'm not sure but i think the mtv music generator for ps2 does something similar to what i'm talking about.

I hate to say it, but there's really a line that needs to be drawn. I understand what you want, but at that point, just go and make a real band already.

This is just a video game. Not an actual game to create and promote your own real music. If you want to do that, look into starting a real band. That's right I said it lol

This has been asked so many times , Can you create your own song ? No they are thinking about it but nothing has been confirmed for RockBand maybe RockBand2 but theres a slim chance it wont happen since if this is done the way you wrote people might try to recreate some songs that might get HMX sued for.

They should have a jam session mode where you lay your own drum rythms down. But hey I don't care just get the game out!

That's the other problem. Especially since you mentioned being able to export them into mp3's. There's just too much liability there.

In conclusion if you want to make your music please dont take this as flaming or offence play a real instrument

I miss that site that hosted Amplitude and Frequency remixes done with the in-game remixer. I'd kill to have that back.

oh, i do. i'm just thinking overall along with harmonix's vision. many people don't, can't, or won't spend what is required to learn how to play an instrument and this is a way around that.

i'm still trying to play the harmonica and guitar at the same time! that's a challenge for me! my harp teacher can do it pretty good though. (jon gindick)

Do you realize what you're saying? Do you realize how freaking long and hard that is? Some just can't do that or just don't want to. I just began writing songs and after 4 years of learning it still takes a good month to write it. Not to mention getting the band on the same page (no pun intended).

The point of Harmonix existence is to play without learning.

But none of us are really "playing" these instruments. It's all make believe

Guitar = 1 string guitar with 5 chords
Drums = simple basic of real drumming
Singing = thats the only real thing you're doing

I remember that dude. I had quite a few mixes up on there. Wasn't it like www.freqremixes.net?

Something like that yeah.

Well Marty Alex says the dream and point of Harmonix is that will evolve into a music maker for the non-musician.

I remember seeing that somewhere too. They want the people who don't have time to learn an instrument, to have the feeling of rocking out.

The point is to experience music, not as a replacement for learning. If you want to make music, either learn an instrument, or learn to use a sequencer.

I could've sworn that's what Alex said in all those interviews but maybe I interpreted wrong I dunno.

That's pretty much what I said isn't it? I'm not trying to be a dick just saying. I said its to give the feeling of playing.

There's nothing wrong with using a simple software suite to make music. It's just a different tool, a different instrument. Techno artists use computers to make their tracks, rockers use guitars, rappers use sequencers, etc.

Given Frequency and Amplitude both had simple mixers and actively encouraged a community of people rearranging music -- including rock music -- it's not too much to wish for Harmonix to return to the formula. Remember, those mixes become not just a song, but a PLAYABLE song, as you try to match the note charts that created it in the first place. It's a win on both fronts.

Is it a replacement for an actual four man rock band? No, not really; since it's a sequencer it can't match the sound. But it could still be a fun tool for making something that sounds great in and of itself.

If you want software that'll do this look into MTV Music Generator or Sony's Acid Music. Both use sequencers and loops and can pull off a variety of genres easily, given the right loop libraries. It's a different approach and a different style than learning a "real" instrument but I've heard some amazing stuff using these programs that were not whipped up by poking random buttons.
