i dont see it.....

here's the quote from june 30th (today's) meeting:

“We secured the license to produce and distribute game accessories for the hit Rock Band game with initial North American and European product shipments scheduled for the second quarter of fiscal 2009. Rock Band has quickly emerged as the leading platform for music fans and gamers in the explosive music category and Mad Catz is the only third-party company to have a license to produce musical instruments. Given the game’s popularity, we believe future sales of our bass, microphone and drum accessories will be important sources of revenue throughout fiscal 2009."

I am starting to think that harmonix's set will have cymbals if it's (mad catz instruments) being released so late.

yeah i was thinking the exact same thing when RB2 was announced today and they said they would give third party companies the rights to make instruments for the game.

I dont see why else the Madcatz drums would have cymbals and a hi hat pedal. it must have something to do with RB2.

yeah q2 refers to April, May and June. I think this is a horrible decision, almost a year away and 8 months after rock band 2 comes out. I may just get the new drums or the ion set.

Many companies start their fiscal year in July. So Q2 FY 2009 could very well mean October 2008 - right after RB2 ships.

A fiscal year can be very different than a calender year. This is due to the fact that a company can pick when their fiscal year ends. This is for tax and reporting purposes.

I know nothing about Mad Catz fiscal year, but it is possible they are currently in fiscal year 2009 and therefor the instruments will be out in the fall.

Also, over at Bestbuy.com I saw this: Mad Catz - Rock Band M.I.C. for Xbox 360 (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8902011&st=rockband&lp=8&type=product&cp=1&id=1213046542156)

If you click on the delivery date is says last week of July / early August

Following the link in the original post the news item today was their annual report. So it does seem evident that they just closed their last fiscal year and are presently in Q1 of FY 09.

Guys many companies do fiscal years, as FYE as in fiscal year ending which puts Quarter 2 of the Fiscal year ending 2009 right about now depending on when they start theirs.

thanks for clarifying that, i guess it makes sense since their fiscal year probably ends mid 2009 next year and if the instruments were finished or looked finished wouldn't make sense for them to hold them back so long? But according to wikipedia:

"Such fiscal years are typically numbered using a calendar year and quarter thereof. A fiscal quarter is 3 months (1/4 of a year). For example, the United States government fiscal year for 2008 ("FY08", sometimes written "FY07–08") is as follows:

1st Quarter: October 1, 2007 – December 31, 2007
2nd Quarter: January 1, 2008 – March 31, 2008
3rd Quarter: April 1, 2008 – June 30, 2008
4th Quarter: July 1, 2008 – September 30, 2008 "
