View Full Version : What should be the final song in RB2?

I will go out on a limb and say:
Rainbow In The Dark - Dio
Why?
Guitar - A "Run to the Hills"(or harder) difficulty solo)
Bass - Haven't paid attention to the bass line in the song, but probably a tad easier than other songs
Drums - Sound very tough
Vocals - OUCH!!!
All of these are my opinion.
Even though this wouldn't be a 10 min. endurance-fest, it would be a cool final (IMO).
What would you like to see as the final song?

Final songs are tough ones to pick.
I could list off tons of songs I want in RB2. Lots of Foo fighters...
But, while I love Foo fighters, would their stuff be hard? Hardly.
It needs to be awesome... and hard. Which Green Grass and high tides did VERY well (I love that song now.)
Hmm, so I'm just not gonna guess.

Just imagine if RB would do that song, it wouldn't sound horribly and be over-charted. Gotta admit, be kinda cool though I want something else.

I second Thunderstruck, it would be very hard (at least singing and guitar) and epic and plus AcDc has never been in one of these games.... so it would make sense on a bunch of levels.

Metropolis by Dream Theater
Have to agree with the Stairway suggestion. Hmx has done a good job with the finale tracks in the past (Freebird, Wont get fooled again & GGHT). Definately need a epic marathon song as the conclusion.

GAH! Someone beat me to dream theater! How about... Trial of tears...the Live at Budokan version seeing as Live tracks aren't taboo anymore with the release of WHO stuff...and chart all of the synth stuff after the guitar since they did that with Boston...there.
EDIT: I take that back...here's an updated list:
Guitar: Dream Theater - Hollow Years (Live at Budokan)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gAOIUWv1ilo (Keep watching or skip - it gets better)
Drums: Rush - Freewill
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MYzGMxGq9rM
Take a look at those links if you are interested. You shouldn't be dissapointed. Upon second thoughts, that specific version of Freewill would probably work nicely for Guitar as well. Hmmm...
EDIT2: Freebird has been done, so anyone who says that should move on...although I like the full version of Inagaddadavida for drums...

By final song, do you mean the hardest song for a full band? Which in Rock Band 1's case would be Run to the Hills.
Here's some of my suggestions:
Guitar- Freebird
Bass- Hallowed Be Thy Name
Drums- 2112 or Achilles Last Stand, just for endurance.
Vocals- Maybe something by Led Zeppelin?
Full band- Master of Puppets.

No to Freebird. It's already been a final song and therefore VERY anti-climatic. Also if there's a Skynrd song it better be Sweet Home unless we get it for DLC first. Something by a band wich most people have to look up is also no good.
So I say screw difficulty and go with epicness and have it be Stairway for guitar. No one likes failing GG&HT at 80-88% and having to do the whole 8 minutes before it over to try again anyway. That's just frustrating wich is the oppisite point of the game. Should Zeppelin still not be available Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd would also be really great or even the full version of The Wall. I'd like Thunderstruck and it should be in the last tier if it was in but not for a final song though I'd perfer Shook Me All Night Long.
If there is to be a bass solo mode then the best choice there would be Under Pressure by Queen & David Bowie. Probably the most famous bassline ever.
Drums,as mentioned,In-a-gada-da-vida. Though failing 13 minutes in is even worse than GG&HT.
For a full band finale Rime of the Anichent Mariner by Iron Maiden.
Since Queen and Maiden are otherwise occupied the vocal finale goes to Dio with Black Sabbath's Heaven & Hell.

Since the parent company is MTV, you know it's going to be "Smells Like Teen Spirit"
I only half kid because MTV puts that song at the right hand of God. An obscure, but awesome song would be "Assassin" by Muse.
For something more recognizable, I'd love to see "Do You Feel Like We Do" by Frampton.
Realistically, you'd think it would have to be a classic by a metal heavyweight. "Thuderstruck" comes to mind; "Eruption/You Really Got Me" would be great; "Stairway" is epic, but I'll one up you on the Led Zeppelin.

"Come Sail Away" would be excellent. Difficult sounding guitar...
I predict many, many drummers insta-failing Hot for Teacher. And if that doesn't kill the band, Eddie's guitar at the start will.
There are some really good responses in this thread - having Ozzy in the final tier would be awesome. Maybe some Steve Vai for guitar as well? GnR might be tough for singers too.

"Hallowed Be Thy Name" has the perfect formula. Unforuntately, it would probably have to be a cover, so it won't be in the game. :(
But really, it's an epic closer that Maiden has used in there recent tours for that slot, it has an extremely hard guitar part, Steve Harris is a bass god, and the drums could possibly be as hard as "Run to the Hills". The vocals are a bit repetitive, however. It might be quite hard to sing, however. There is that really long sustained note at the end of the intro.
Vocals: Don't Stop Believin' - Journey(can't think of a better one)
Guitar: ??? (not Stairway..............)
Bass: Roundabout - YES (EPIC!!!)
Drums: In A Gadda Da Vida - Iron Butterfly(can't believe I'm the only person to spell both right) or some Rush song(maybe 2112?)
Full Band: Kashmir - Led Zeppelin (super epic, but repetitive.) (No Stairway, too boring for everything but guitar and vocals.)

The final song is typically longer than 7 minutes when it comes to Rock Band songs (GGaHT, WGFA, F/LT)
I don't expect to see Free Bird as the final song because GH2 already had it as its final song. Although I would like Hocus Pocus by Focus as the final song in RB2 (I hope it's in the game for that matter), I expect a song by Rush or AC/DC

The ONLY way I'd be okay with a beatles song being final tier for an instrument would be if it was the entire Abbey Road Medley as one song. Vocals, I could accept, but they just never did any epic five minute solos, although The End has some pretty decent solos. They went for interesting to listen to over hard to play.

What?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!1!n!/!!?/1/!/!>?!M/.@NonfliI1GIUG1ILUGK
HERESY, I SAY!!!!!!
But, really, they have TONS of songs that are long. Here's a good list:
"Seventh Son of a Seventh Son" - 9:53
"For the Greater Good of God" - 9:26
"Rime of the Ancient Mariner" - 13:34
"Phantom of the Opera" - 7:05
"Hallowed Be Thy Name" - 7:12
"Paschendale" - 8:32
"Dance of Death" - 8:38
"Brighter Than a Thousand Sun" - 8:47
I could go on and on, but I'm too lazy. I've heard people say Maiden suck, etc., but I've NEVER heard anyone say they have no long songs. That is a complete lie. Their discography is full of long epics.

IF HMX got Zeppelin, then Stairway would have to be the final song; or Achilles Last Stand. Or a more obscure Zep song like In My Time of Dying.
But I'm also pulling for Pearl Jam in RB2. Alive or Yellow Ledbetter would be a great closer, especially if live versions could be used (And since the Who pack has three, it seems they can be). Though drums for both would be on the easier side.

As a Slipknot fan, I have to say that no matter what, a Slipknot song should NEVER be in the final tier of anything beyond drums.
That's mainly why I put it there, for the drummers.
"L.A. Woman" would be kinda like "Highway Star" in that it'll keep everyone in the band on their toes, but is by no means impossible to beat. Very difficult and endurance testing individually, but attainable as a band.

Final songs are always a real pain to accurately pick out...you have to somehow find the magic balance between length, "epicness", and difficulty...I can't think of anything suitable for a "Last" song, persay, but Metallica's Seek and Destroy should at least be last-tier or second-to-last-tier material on the guitar side of things. (At least with the solo...)
Oh, and I'd kill to see Spirit of Radio by Rush as a last-tier drum song. If they had a solo bass tour they could throw in a good Primus track for a finale, I guess. As for vocals, that's a tough one...maybe another Maiden track? Or they could go for a Boston-esque experience and throw in a Journey song, both bands have great, iconic vocalists that would definitely test people.

So I think that
Thunderstruck - AC/DC,
anything by Zeppelin,
or Master of Puppets (even if it's not last, that song would rock so freakin much on rock band),
would all be great as a final song on Rock Band 2.
If you want something a bit more original, how about
Separate Ways - Journey,
or a real ambiguous one,
Metal Meltdown - Judas Priest (album is "Painkiller" I believe, check it out for yourself here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sWe7JWNNeyY)
I think it would be suitably difficult on all fronts, especially vocals and guitar.

Final songs are always a real pain to accurately pick out...you have to somehow find the magic balance between length, "epicness", and difficulty...
I think this is the key here. I also think they need to get something a bit more well-known and recognizable than GG&HT this time around. WGFA was definitely well known enough for the full band.
But looking back at other games... final songs were "Bark at the Moon", "Freebird", and "One". All very popular, well-known songs that also happen to be rather difficult to play.
My first thought is "Stairway", but I think that, overall, it's not "difficult enough" from beginning to end. I definitely like the idea of "Master of Puppets", but Metallica has already been "the last song" once, so maybe someone else should get a chance.
AC/DC? GnR? PJ? I think RB2 is a good opportunity for HMX to not only get one of those epic bands into the game, but "make up for it" by putting one of the songs as the finale...

gez..any Maiden song would do, but I'd say Rime of the Ancient mariner...
reasons..
1) 13 minutes long

3) crazy vocals
4) a very tough tesy all around, from vocals to drums with endurance being a major factor

What could Iron Maiden possibly get as a FINAL song? Their songs are ALWAYS hard and epic, but I can't think of a song long enough to be the final song... besides Rime of the Ancient Mariner
can't think of a song long enough???
1) Rime of the Ancient mariner 13 minutes
2) Hallowed be thy Name 7 minutes
3) brighter than a thousand suns 8 minutes
4) The reincarnation of Benjamin Breeg 7 minutes
5) For the Greater Good of God 9 minutes
6) Fear of the Dark 7 minutes
7) Seventh son of a seventh son 9 minutes
8) Pascendale 8 minutes
9) Sign of the Cross 11 minutes
10) Powerslave 7 minutes

I wonder if they will have more Wolfmother in Rock Band 2, maybe a hard one could be...
White Unicorn ~ http://youtube.com/watch?v=ZajUzLY--iQ
- Listen to it, drummers would be pretty happy I think, and sounds fun for guitar too!
Also I think different types is important, which HMX seems to follow. So maybe also this one..
Holy Diver ~ http://youtube.com/watch?v=PqTy2-a8pUo
- Mean Guitar solo
My 3rd song I'd pick is a song from Nightwish. People want women singers in the game with hard music, and catchy. I think it's a winner!
Bye Bye Beautiful (http://youtube.com/watch?v=hTdhXxxWREo)
- I think maybe, hard for vocalists. I am not sure though.
All great songs, for all instruments.

Hopefully it won't be "Dream Theatre" my hope is that they are just in the bonus songs. Not nearly epic enough. Prolly some "The Who" or maybe "AC/DC"

The ones that jumped to my mind immediately have already been mentioned, but in hopes that anyone is watching this...
Deep Purple - Child in Time - Final Vocal
AC / DC - Thunderstruck - Final Guitar
Iron Butterfly - In-A-Gadda Da-Vida - Final Full Band
Tons and tons of great song suggestions here, but I don't know that all of them are truly "last song" material. Even though "Stairway to Heaven" is THE epic song, it's not the hardest one anyone's put out there. "Paranoid Android", "Stranglehold", and "Bohemian Rhapsody" all certainly deserve a place in the game, but as the end-all be-all difficult songs, I don't know that they qualify.

What?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!1!n!/!!?/1/!/!>?!M/.@NonfliI1GIUG1ILUGK
HERESY, I SAY!!!!!!
But, really, they have TONS of songs that are long. Here's a good list:
"Seventh Son of a Seventh Son" - 9:53
"For the Greater Good of God" - 9:26
"Rime of the Ancient Mariner" - 13:34
"Phantom of the Opera" - 7:05
"Hallowed Be Thy Name" - 7:12
"Paschendale" - 8:32
"Dance of Death" - 8:38
"Brighter Than a Thousand Sun" - 8:47
I could go on and on, but I'm too lazy. I've heard people say Maiden suck, etc., but I've NEVER heard anyone say they have no long songs. That is a complete lie. Their discography is full of long epics.
I would love to see Phantom of the Opera as the final song.
Lots of nice tempo changes, good length (oo-er), challenging throughout and a rip-roaring great track.
Nice if we could get an original 1980 recording but it was probably recorded for about 12.5p so I doubt a suitable master exists

Since it was the final song on the endless setlist, I'm going to assume that WGFA is the final full band song...not always the toughest song, but epic.
Guitar: Comfortably Numb - Pink Floyd
Bass: Roundabout - Yes
Drums: Spirit of the Radio - Rush
Vocals: Child in Time - Deep Purple
Band: Spirit of the Radio - Rush

It might be a bit easy compared to other suggestions, but Red Barchetta by Rush would be a fun closing tier song somewhere in the game. Though I say throw in some Renegade by Styx for Guitar, Like a Rolling Stone for Vocals, and some Rush for Drums. As the primary bassist when we play, I sadly can't think of a song.

AC/DC doesn't have any songs that are difficult enough to warrant being the last song in the game. I love the band, but c'mon, their music is fairly basic.

I would have to say that Master of Puppets by Metallica should warrant a place in the final tier of RB2 for Drums and Guitar. Possibly vocals too.

Haha, yea Roundabout is an Epic Bass song. I agree with you there :D

Dream Theater- Glass Prison... long and difficult for all instruments, which seems to be the standard for the final song.
Runa216

Dream theatre: Six degrees of Inner turbulence
It's got a lot of easy parts, but so did Free Bird and Green Grass and High Tides, and so did Won't Get Fooled Again, and Foreplay/long time was insanely easy until the last little bit.
It's got about 15-20 guitar solos (I'm guessing, I haven't counted)
the drums are just insane
the vocals have a HUGE range, and often get to very high pitches
The Bass is actually DIFFICULt in parts.
Did I mention the song is 42 minutes long?
But, if we';re going for different instruments and different songs, then I really don't know. I'd love to see some metallica in the final tier for guitar.
For vocals, laugh all you want: Weird Al - Hardware Store
For Drums - anything by rush, maybe an extended drum solo by Neil Peart.

Agreed
Guitar - Master of Puppets (Metallica)
Drums - Phantom of the Opera (Iron Maiden)
Bass - Riot (Dead Kennedys)
Vocals - Hocus Pocus (Focus)
Full Band - Hocus Pocus (It has drum solos, guitar solos, bass solos, and epic vocal solos)
I'd love to see someone yodel Hocus Pocus.

I dunno about the whole final tier, but here's how it should partly read:
"Hit the Lights" - Metallica: so much epicness here, plus as a final song the subject just fits. A song about rocking your fans to kingdom come? Yes, please.
"Children of the Damned" - Iron Maiden: with a song so good, how can this not be final tier? It resembles "Free Bird" in structure, except that the slow part of this song would actually be fun. Once it turns on the gas, it makes "Run to the Hills" drums look slow.
"Holy Wars... The Punishment Due" - Megadeth: as Megadeth's most requested song, I figured this would work well. Just be sure to have your strum bar insured.
Worth mentioning that those are for the full band final tier.

Welcome to the Jungle.
Yeah, it's a better opening song, but I'm pretty sure it's way too hard for an opening. Drums wouldn't be too hard, but vox, guitar, and bass would be hard enough.

Rock & Roll or Stairway to Heaven.
Freebird.
Born To Run.
Highway to Hell.
I know it's a band game now instead of a guitar game, but I still don't see Freebird making an appearance as a final song again. Not yet, at least. ;-) Highway to Hell is a good possibility (as AC/DC is rumored to be in the game), but I don't think of that song being terribly difficult - someone please correct me if I'm wrong, the radio's playing in here and I can't think if it has a good solo or anything.
While no news of Zep has been announced yet, Rock & Roll would be great, but they are overdue for Stairway to make an appearance as a final song (a la the jokes in GH about Free Bird, which was then the final encore in GH2, which made jokes about Stairway...)

I prefer the longer marathon-type songs to finish up the game (talkin' bout guitar), but only if it's done right.
GGaHT= Perfect. I really enjoy the song, but it's fast-paced and hard throughout the entire song, with the really difficult part near the end.
Free Bird= Bad. I love the song, but the intro for guitar is just too long and boring. If you fail the "hard" part, you have to sit through the long intro. It's just not fun throughout the entire song.
One= Bad. For the exact same reasons of Free Bird, except the intro is a bit shorter/more fun.
...And Justice for All= Great. Not too hard, but it's pretty consistent throughout the entire 9+ minutes. Not hard enough for a final song though, just an example.
TTFAF= Great. I dislike the song, but it's consistently difficult, with the hardest parts being around 80-90%.
What I'm saying is that I'd like a long song ONLY if it doesn't have some boring intro that you have to play a hundred times. I beat Free Bird my second try on Expert, but I couldn't imagine having to repeat it the number of times I had to repeat GGAHT. I would have killed myself.

Here's some ideas for the final tier in tour mode...
The Doors - "L.A. Woman"
While i do agree that this song belongs in the game 100000%! :D, this is not final tier material, if were talking in terms of difficulty, and not popularity. guitar is relatively simple, drums would just hurt your forearm, bass would too, and vocals would be challenging. guitar brings it down though
WildBillKickoff
07-02-2008, 10:07 AM
Got beat to Paradise City by about 10 minutes. :)
Paradise City would be the new (and improved) Train Kept A Rollin'-- the most difficult voxtar song out there, because you have to sing over the top of a wicked solo.
That's probably a tier 9 guitar, at least tier 8 drums and vocals, and tier 7 or higher bass, depending on the other songs they get. I'd say it would be a worthy band finale, and probably a guitar finale most everyone would be OK with and many would be excited about.
Crazy Train would be excellent, but super easy on vocals for a full band finale. You can't have a tier 9 guitar, bass, and drum song with tier 1-2 vocals ending it all-- but it would be a great finale for guitar tour.
Hot For Teacher could end drum tour for sure, and would be another choice for the band finale.
One other I haven't seen mentioned-- 25 or 6 to 4 by Chicago. Excellent guitar solo, fairly difficult vocals and drums, but bass would be bored as all get out.

Guitar - Voodoo Child (Slight Return) - Hendrix
Bass - Achilles Last Stand - Zeppelin
Drums -Touch Me - The Doors
Vocals - The Boys Are Back in Town - Thin Lizzy
Band - Xanadu - Rush
EDIT: Hot for Teacher would be epic!!! Final tier guitar, drums, and vocals, with difficult bass.
Therefore,
Hot for Teacher - Van Halen (the "wont get fooled again" or "run to the hills")

I really wouldn't want to see something that's already been done before.

Or how about some Nickelback to test to see if you survive listening to a full Nickelback song.

I know it's unlikely, and probably mentioned elsewhere in this thread - but something by Tool would be brutal on the Drum Career.
Guitar: Hallowed Be Thy Name - Iron Maiden
Definitely one of Iron Maiden's opus magna, it would be utterly wrong for Hallowed Be Thy Name to be anything else but the final song for the guitar career.
Bass: No idea, really.
Drums: Punishment Divine - Blind Guardian
This song would destroy your drum kit. It's not a shabby song on other instruments, either.
Vocals: Wheel In The Sky - Journey
Anything by Journey is gonna be real tough on vocals. This is just an epic, uplifting ballad that I think anyone would be hard-pressed to do well on, but compelled to try anyway because it would be such a blast to sing.

I'm going to go ahead and say something from AC/DC. Maybe Back in Black, though I'd prefer Shook Me All Night Long.

For everybody suggesting "Thunderstruck" or AC/DC songs, I think it would work very well for Guitar/Vox, but the drums in most AC/DC songs simply aren't hard enough to justify it being a Full band- type end song. My top picks would be (In a perfect world):
Tool: The Grudge
Tool: Vicarious
Pantera: Revolution is My Name
Led Zeppelin: Immigrant Sonh

Master of Puppets would be Tier 9 for everything but Vox (and that would be a 7 or 8), so I think it would be a rare song that could fill the Final Song role nearly perfectly - long, technically challenging, and well-known. The only other option for a one-song-that-covers-all-players finale would be something from Dream Theater more than likely. Just about every other song mentioned in this thread has a weaker link somewhere (bass or drums usually). AC/DC songs are awesome, but I don't see them being Tier 9 (or close to it) all around.

I heart Iron maiden, but they sped it up and it sounds so much better that way.

Other than that..I have no idea.

Drums - 5 or 6, not as hard as other songs.
That would be WEAK. But I would love to see it in the final tier.

Well, since it has to be long, difficult for all players in the band, and epic in feeling, I would have to say one of these:
Rush - 2112 (Overture/Temples of Syrinx)
Harmonix loves Rush, so this is a possibility. The lack of vocals for half of the song would make it kinda boring for the singer, although the second half more than makes up for it.
Comfortably Numb - Pink Floyd (Actually, the live version by Roger Waters, Van Morrison, and the Band)
Its Pink Floyd, so the epicness is there. The difficulty for some of the instruments may be lacking though.
Rock City - Damn Yankees
Maybe not a final song, but a final tier song for sure. It has that epic rock band feel. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PoRxqkhq9kY
Denim and Leather - Saxon
Just like Rock City, it has that rock band feel. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=edgC2AbmBxo

I'm going out on a limb here, as much as i hate to repeat any trends from Rock Band 1....
Boston - Cool the Engines
would be good for a Vocal Ending...
Not sure if this was for Band or any specifics, but thats a good vocal tune In My Opinion.

What could Iron Maiden possibly get as a FINAL song? Their songs are ALWAYS hard and epic, but I can't think of a song long enough to be the final song... besides Rime of the Ancient Mariner
WHAT? Hallowed Be Thy Name... how do you forget their best song? 7 mins isn't long enough?
And to whoever said the vocals in that song are repetitive... he doesn't repeat anything! LOL!
If there's Dio and it's rainbow in the dark I'll be freakin disappointed... Strange Highways for sure....
Oh yeah and to answer why no one talks about Pantera too often... possibly too obvious?
Cemetary Gates would kick ass.
GH1 had the best final setlist by far with pantera, ozzy, blue oyster cult, stevie ray vaughan and it will sadly not be beat with rb2.

What?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!1!n!/!!?/1/!/!>?!M/.@NonfliI1GIUG1ILUGK
HERESY, I SAY!!!!!!
But, really, they have TONS of songs that are long. Here's a good list:
"Seventh Son of a Seventh Son" - 9:53
"For the Greater Good of God" - 9:26
"Rime of the Ancient Mariner" - 13:34
"Phantom of the Opera" - 7:05
"Hallowed Be Thy Name" - 7:12
"Paschendale" - 8:32
"Dance of Death" - 8:38
"Brighter Than a Thousand Sun" - 8:47
I could go on and on, but I'm too lazy. I've heard people say Maiden suck, etc., but I've NEVER heard anyone say they have no long songs. That is a complete lie. Their discography is full of long epics.
Don't get too insulted. I just said that I can't THINK of a long song; I didn't say that they didn't have any. : \

Activision might blow but Raining Blood was the most legendary final tier opener.
...I heard HMX was working on gh3 though b4 activision took over, like just liscensed some songs or something? Could someone please maybe tell me for sure if THEY actually decided on raining blood? That would be a great day!

I completely agree. I hope we will get it in one form or another though. I would absolutely love to play this song on every instrument.

people might think I'm crazy, but I always though Bohemiam Rhapsody by Queen would be an awesome last song, here's why:
1)The Guitar parts are sick,especially the solo's
2)It would be extremely fun and challenging to play on the vocals
3)The Drum parts are deceptively tricky in my opinion
4)It's a lenghty song, and all the last songs in every game have been pretty long(that's what she said)

They should go with NOFX's The Decline...it might not be as difficult as others...but it's got a hell of an epic feel and it takes 18 minutes, so it would have a good kind of built-up-to-this marathon feel. Actually...listening to it again, I take back that thing about the difficulty...playing punk rock drums for 18 minutes is probably not an easy thing to do.

Exactly, Im seeing ALOT of Dream Theater in here, it seems Im not the only one with good taste, yeah any song from DT under 10 mins would be hella fun, but somthing over that is just hurtful because their drummer (Mike Portnoy) is a beast and not to mention whoever plays guitar on expert would have to already be able to beat Green Grass and High Tides on expert with their eyes closed to be able to be as good as John petrucci on a Rock Band guitar

The Abbey Road medley by The Beatles would be an epic choice as a final song. It's 16 minutes in length (comprised of 8 shorter songs), has a variety of tempos, and plenty of material for all players - including the ONLY drum solo Ringo ever did with The Beatles.
My second chice for the final song would be "Vicinity of Obscenity" by System of a Down. It's a musical rollercoaster that would challenge everyone in the band. The crazy lyrics would also make quite the conversation piece.

I haven't read through the entire thread, but I think the perfect final song for RB2 would be "Willie The Pimp" by Frank Zappa (http://youtube.com/watch?v=7gT0VeRAGbE). It would easily be tier 9 guitar, most likely be tier 9 bass, and be a very high tier for drums. The vocals would be the newly created Beefheart tier. The only problem with it is the the vocals end at about 2:20 and the song goes on for 7 minutes after that. But then again, GG&HT didn't have very much vocals, so I think it would work.

Part One -- The Large Mass
Heres 20 songs that in my opinion, are truly all Final Song Material in one way or another. Could be by simply being like GGaHT or FP/LT and only being for a single insrument, or it could be like WGFA and be the full band. I've put them in each positive instrument to simply show how they rank individually. Of course, there is no order of rank, just simply ordered how they popped into my noggin.
AN-I-MAL (Drums Tier):
1.) Iron Butterfly -- In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida The 17 mins will be more then enough to keep you alive.
2.) Tool -- Aenima -- Want a challenge, Tool is all-around good fun.
3.) Rush -- 2112 -- Another long song but this time the drums get more fun being in the hands of Neil Peart
4.) Van Halen -- Hot For Teacher To be honest, how are they unsignable? They were in GH2... Still good tune!
5.) Dream Theater -- Metropolis Any real person can see why your calf muscle is still twitching to the sound alone.
Lord Of The Strings (Guitar Tier):
1.) Cream -- White Room This song is by far a good jam, I don't care what you think. There are numerous ways the solo could be done.
2.) Ozzy Osbourne -- Crazy Train Randy Rhodes, DONE!
3.) Jethro Tull -- Aqualung Aqualung my friend, why are you not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, yet Madonna is...
4.) AC/DC -- Thunderstruck I'll drink to this one
5.) Metallica -- Master of Puppets Easily one of the MOST requested, for good reasons
*.) Led Zeppelin -- Stariway To Heaven [Live] It will never happen but if it would, this would be the song. I prefer the 'The Song Remains The Same' version then the original. Its 2 minutes longer with more drums to play.
String Plucker (Bass Tier):
1.) Yes -- Roundabout I love this song, and now its Bass-line can be in used for full use!
2.) King Crimson -- 21st Centruy Schizoid Man This song still gives me problems for being stuck in my head.
3.) Primus -- Tommy the Cat Les Claypool sucks!
4.) Iron Maiden -- Rime Of The Ancient Marriner With multiple songs to pick, this is one i prefer.
5.) Genesis -- The Knife They are totally great, they should be included with some hits.
Vitruoso (Vocal Tier):
1.) Queen -- Bohemian Rhapsody Any way the wind blows...
2.) Deep Purple -- Child In Time Must have
3.) Focus -- Hocus Pocus Yodel, Jibberish, and if Harmonix wants to make it possible, Whistle.
4.) Radiohead -- Paranoid Android Love the Radiohead.
5.) Pink Floyd -- Time Great song, from a CD many enjoy for great reason.
Part Two -- Top Band Picks
Since already mentioned they are all fine in their own unique ways, the best picks for the whole band would have to include:
Iron Butterfly Tool Rush Van Halen Dream Theater
Cream Jethro Tull Metallica Led Zeppelin [Hell will have to freeze]
Yes King Crimson Primus Iron Maiden
Queen Deep Purple Focus Pink Floyd
Part Three -- Final Decision
To finally answer the damn question, my pick would have to be:
For Endurance (The Long Haul Song)
Rush -- 2112 -- You have all instruments playing at full compacity at one point or another. Vocals may lag but they did in GGaHT as well. I think everybody would enjoy playing this one even if they fail.
Runner Up: Dream Theater -- Metropolis
For Ability (The Impatient)
Van Halen -- Hot for Teacher -- It is a short song compared to the lengthy requirement for being 6+ mins. Its still a good song, for all around good time.
Runner Up: King Crimson -- 21st Century Schizoid Man
For Style (The Standard)
Queen -- Bohemian Rhapsody -- You know this would instantly become any fan favorite. We all know it, we all sing it at least 20 times a year probably, just admit it. This song is what Rock Band is really all about.
Runner Up: Metallica -- Master of Puppets
For Keeps (THE Song of the Game)
Focus -- Hocus Pocus -- The singing would be extremely hard since you'll have to try to just match a yodel, then try more 'Timmy' jibberish for vocals. The guitar solo is all depending on what speed of the song they choose to go with, can be decent or really insane. The drums is even deserving of its own solo, that means live or die.
Runner Up: Cream -- White Room -- The power trio that blew you away with only a 2 year span. The bassline is intense, the thunderous drums, the guitar legend. honestly, i'm surprised GH hasn't tried to smudge their hands on this song yet, poor Sunshine, its just a great band song. The Vocals change from Jack and Eric so thats bound to add more flavor.
In Summary:
Focus <-- Cream <-- Queen <-- Metallica <-- Van Halen <-- King Crimson <-- Rush <-- Dream Theater <-- (Part Two Bands) <-- (Part One Bands)
(Plese Note: This took me while to write so if you simply don't agree, so don't be a jack-ass about it if you don't agree. Thank you)

I think AC/DC's Thunderstruck would be suitably difficult and epic at the same time. I get sore fingers just thinking of playing guitar for that song.
yu know that this would be very easy right? even on real guitar it is so simple.
it just sounds hard. the only thing you would be doing is holding down the green button while the rest of your fingers are hitting the other notes.

That song would kick ass in rock band to sing, play, drum and the solo is awesome. To bad Wacko Jacko lost his mind.

If we have any Hallowed be thy name, it needs to be the Cradle of filth version.
^***.
Yeah, they should release an epic like Hallowed Be Thy Name, but it should be some annoying cover. Dani CAN'T sing for ****, SHUT UP, that cover is awful and WAYYYYYYY over 99% of everyone I'm sure would agree after hearing both versions that IM's is 9999999999x better. NO it's not an opinion. IM is one of the most talented bands ever and cradle of **** is cradle of ****. GTFO troll.

That was a mindfart on my part, I meant Bloodline but typed Disciple. And there's no cursing in South of Heaven, except the word bastard once, and one word that's certainly a curse but could easily be blanked out.
Yeah, but south of heaven is extremely blasphemous, as are most of their songs.
That didn't stop one of the most wicked, blasphemous songs ever "raining blood" to get to gh3, but the words aren't there for you on that game....

Um... this is 2008. No one really cares about blasphemy anymore except for the extremely religious (who aren't exactly these game's target demographic) and religious institutions themselves. Hell, Indiana Jones is technically blasphemous.

I'm not talking "indiana jones blasphemous" I'm talking "existing on
damnation's edge,
the priest had never known, to witness such a violent show of power overthrown,
angels fighting aimlessly, still dying by the sword, our legions killing all in sight to get the one
called Lord" blasphemous. There's a difference between dio's double meanings and
overthrowing Heaven being graphically described. I like Slayer, but I can see why most people who
have this game would have a problem with this, considering most people (in usa) are christians. It's probably not happening.... If so, it'll be dlc, not a final song that's for sure.

...And QUIT mentioning instrumentals as final songs, that's more unlikely than Slayer. Yeah, eruption is instrumental. I KNOW, HOW ABOUT ORION?!?!?!?!?!? lol

Considering leaked lists... I would say that Dream Theater's Panic Attack is probably a best bet for most difficult/last song in the game. Its 8 min long and ridiculous.

I'm Christian, and I don't care. If you are so insecure and unconfident in your faith that a song with "blasphemous" lyrics bothers you, I don't know what to say.

How about the full version of November Rain by Guns N Roses
seriously this is a good choice. albeit its a whole minute before any instruments begin playing (other than piano and orchestra) it is definitely an EPIC song. the instruments are fairly easy though except guitar and even its solo's are only mildly challenging (by slash standards). I do like that the entire song has luike 3-4 different acts with different play styles so you wont get bored in the middle of the song.
megadeth: holy wars. . .Punishment due. is an extrememly good choice for final songs. its a little less than 7 minutes so not quite as long as other final songs, but it has an epic feel and sounds challenging for every instrument.
bohemian rapsody is a great song and i wouldnt mind it in the game. it definitely fits the epic bill. Since waynes world who hasn't loved belting this song out in their car? it would be a greta party song. but isn't it like over 2 minutes before any guitars start at all? i know there is bass but even that is like 1 note here and there. even then the guitars are sparse at best in the song. (they only really start at around 4 minutes. so you get 1 minute of guitar playing.)
seriously almost anything by dream theater would be challenging and epic. (do they do anything BUT epic?)
