I know this might be pointless but since this is the general chat I'd like to post my thoughts. I know how everyone here is in love with Rock Band, me especially. Everyone is saying how the notecharts in GH3 are bad and that the game has a different feel and I honestly understand that but I really can't help but get excited for it. I really think from what Neversoft started with, they did a really good job and coming through with it. I don't know what it is. I'm glad that there is a new set of songs coming out maybe thats it. Maybe it's the start of the war between GH3 and RB. I'm not sure but I'm getting damn well excited. So my I tip my hat to you neversoft.

Preach! They are both good. But GH3's redeeming factor is that I'm the final boss and I'm tough as HELL! lol

I'm not worried about the notecharts on either. I was super stoked for GH3 until I played the demo. I'm dissapointed with the way the strumming works. Can't seem to use the same style as the previous versions.

I'll still get it immediately though. Will provide a new challenge...

LMAOOOO I know I'm scared to even play the game knowing your coming.

And Eman I was the same way. The battle mode is REAL decent. I thought it was gonna take away from the game being about playing music, but it was a good idea.

I think they are both great. Guitar hero has imo a better songlist for the mostpart but is only good for a few playthroughs and has limited other human contact while rock band has something new, it also has the replay factor that guitar hero just can't give.

Am I the only one that feels a little intimidated by some of the harder songs in the game? I remember watching vids of people who got GH2 early, and I'd sit and think, "can I really beat this song? It looks tough as hell!" But then I play GH2, and I've 5*'d them all (except Six), so I wonder if I just need to play them first, but... Does anyone feel this way?

Oh absolutely. I remember watching The Metal battle video on youtube and thinking OK I'm going back to hard. But you just gotta bring the fight to there doorstep. Just play it!

Hell, I'm still excited for it too. I can just see in videos that it's not going to be the same and thats obvious because it's an entirely different developer. I think the setlist is definitely one of the stronger points of the game and am looking forward to playing some certain songs.

I am picking it up at midnight on Saturday so that says I'm looking forward to it. Now it's definitely going to be something we aren't used to but it can still be a viable game.

I feel he same way. Sometimes it seems that some people bash on it because it's not by HMX. NOT ACCUSING.
I can see why some people feel this, but it's still guitar hero.. I'l enjoy it, plan on picking up mine midnight on the 27th/28th.
Or winning it in the tourny I'm in.
Some charts feel weird but, it should still be fun. I like some of the new character designs. One of my favorites is Casey Lynch's alt costume(s)
They did a good job, way better than expected.

hell yea man, i'm very excited for GH3, i've been looking forward to it ever since it was first announced, it's still the same basic coreplay as the other GHs and just cause HMX didnt make it doesnt mean its gonna be bad, some people who bash on it havent even played the final bill so you cant really criticixe it if you havet even played all the songs and trued out every feature

haha your using me as a reference

Im just as excited for gutar hero III as I was for II. Just because its by neversoft doesnt meant its going to suck. I think it will be cool to do something new (GH III and Rock Band).

Thank you for all agreeing and showing me that your open minded and not close minded fanboys. I'm not saying anyone doesnt have the right to dislike it, but if you show it with respect its all good.

I blast GH3 at every available opportunity, and yet I visited a couple stores today trying to coax hapless employees into selling it to me early. Why?

As much as I dislike the direction they've taken with the series, I'm hungry for something new. New songs to rock out with, new challenges to defeat, and new things to unlock. Even with some questionable design decisions, the underlying premise in GH3 is the same and is fun.

I've never been solely about game A vs game B, because I have the means to get both. To me, criticism of either one isn't about being rude or obnoxious... it's about holding our treasured past-times to a higher standard. Battle mode will still stink regardless though... too many luck based mechanics and a terrible overtime system.

So I'll be looking for some battles for anyone getting it Saturday night for the 360... and with that new guitarhero.com website the online should be pretty cool... I'm sure someone will (or I will) make a 360 Gh3 thread for hooking people up with battles and what not... I'm looking forward to it

Yea pretty much the same here. I wasn't very much looking forward to it but the demo gave me hope, only being able to play on medium since I don't have a guitar for the 360 but after seeing the videos I started doubting again. Solo notes are no problem with me but chords are (as evidanced by my 5 star of Jordan with a very large score and playing Texas Flood behind my back but can only 4* What I Like About You on hard in GH 80's) so I'm pretty much screwed on expert after the 3rd section.

I was partly successful in my attempt to get it early. The local store said they'd be putting out the rental copies as soon as they get them and will put one aside for me for PS2 though I'm still not sure to buy it for PS2 or PS3.

There are several reasons why I absolutely dislike this game and won't be getting it at all (none of them has to do with it not being produced by Harmonix):

1) The quality of the covers is AWFUL. "Rock You Like A Hurricane" has a completely different feel and sound now that ruins the song for me, "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" is the best cover I've heard from the game and that's not saying much. And don't even get me started on "The Seeker" cover.

2) The notecharts are very odd (some of them) and most of them seem to be catering only to the hardcore (constant 3 note chord changes, some of us do have trouble with those!). The note charts seem to have artificially upped the difficulty for the hardcore GHer. Us casual players won't even be able to complete songs on expert by the looks of things.

3) The wide timing window has ruined the gameplay for me. Being able to strike those notes after they've passed you 5 minutes ago is very confusing and ruins the feeling of actually playing along. I found myself constantly being lost because I'd thought I missed a note when I actually hit it. I found it way too easy to lose your streak because of this.

4)The art style is horrendous! The drummer is stiff as hell, the singer looks like what a troll would date if it were desperate, Johnny Napalm looks like he's 50 and Judy Nails looks like she belongs on a street corner somewhere seedy. A lot of people say "But you'll be watching the note charts all the time". Well, when I do look up I don't want to be looking at an ogre wannabe.

5) The removal of 2 of my favorite characters. The removal of Clive Winston and Pandora is absolutely unforgiveable.

6) The mixes on these songs are absolutely atrocious. The songs are missing their sonic punch and are mixed horribly. Whomever was in charge of this aspect worked very hard to ensure that the mixes were the worst I've heard in years. I have CDs from the mid-80's that sound better than the tracks here.

Anyways, that's what killed it for me. I was REALLY looking forward to playing this game, but I was sorely disappointed by it and thus won't be picking it up.
