I know that you will be able to transfer your old downloads from rock band 1, but I really hope/wish there will be some way to play some of the songs on the original rock band in the new one. I really enjoy songs like "say it ain't so", "reptilia", and "gimme shelter" to name a few, and I would love it if these and others could be played in the newest game.
Is there any chance that this will/can happen?

There is no transferring. Rock Band DLC is Rock Band DLC...no matter the version.

I'm going to guess this isn't going to happen, I feel like it would've been stated along with the compatible DLC announcement.

Congratulations, you completely missed the point of this thread.
OP, we do not know for sure about the ability to add RB1 songs into RB2. This may be difficult to do for licencing reasons.
We may also see it arise as DLC after RB2's release. I think it would be reasonable to offer all the songs in a pack for $30 or individually for $1.00 each. I don't know how/if HMX are going to do anything with this though, so don't get your hopes up too high

Missed your meds this morning? Nothing was missed Sherlock.
He was obviously confused about DLC compatibility as well. Now he isn't.
You however.....congrats on being an ass.

From what I have gathered so far. DLC, both what has been released and what will be released in the future, is compatable with RB1 & RB2.
As far as the songs on the RB1 disc being playable with RB2, they are not ready to announce anything yet. Will have to wait for E3, is my guess.

This would be tough to do. I guess if the disc is large enough, the could include all the RB1 songs on the disc and only make them available if your system has a Rock Band 1 save file, but that'd be a lot of space for content not everyone would have access to. Maybe they could do it for a few select tracks that pair well with DLC (Pixies, Who, Boston, etc) and leave it at that. If they can figure out a way to do it, I'd be thrilled. But I'm not going to surprised or upset if they don't.

I hope not. I am happy just flipping back to the disk. Frankly, I spend more time on the 150+ DLC songs than I do the disk songs unless I feel like playing around with my career score. I don't want them as downloadle because then when I play RB1 the same songs will be in the regular play list then listed again in DL content. I like to show all songs complete when I look at my career. I don't want to have to play them all again so my Downloadable stuff doesn't always show something new.

Timmy and the Lords of the Underworld is the only one that really matters, anyway. Forget the trash music like The Who, Metallica, Iron Maiden and all that other lameness.
