From an article I read (a while back, mind), it basically said that they can do it, but it's up to Activision. That was regarding GH3.. but I'd assume it goes likewise 2.

GH2 guitars for x360 are compatible with RB. We don't know if it works the other way around. I honestly considering selling mine to buy the new one with the new solo buttons.

btw: new tapping solo buttons >>>>>> button smashing battle mode.

Maybe we should all be asking the opposite question here, will the Rock Band controllers work with GH3???

If anything these would be the ones to buy, with all the extra fret buttons, otherwise you'd be missing out if you only used GH3 controllers....

I sure as hell hope so. It'd be fantastic, I don't want to feel the need to buy two guitars for each game, I don't have a money tree ;)

As stated before - any decision to support the RB Strat controller for GH3 would be entirely up to Activision. Our policy is very much that the controller working for multiple games is a good thing for music game fans.

Has it been confirmed that the guitar from GH3 will work in Rock Band? Sorry if this has been announced already. I know the Wired X-Plorer will be.

If they only allow the GH3 Controller and the 360 X-Plorer and not the RB Strat, then they will have lost my buisness.

Amen to that.

I believe it will, I don't have any links handy but this is how I look at it.
We know that the X-Plorer will work with Guitar Hero 3
we also know it will work with Rockband.
The Guitar Hero 3 Guitar will work with Guitar Hero 2
Thus the Guitar Hero 3 Guitar should work just fine with Rockband.

The only thing that it wont have is the extra solo fret buttons, from what I understand aren't NEEDED but just an optional/easier way to preform solos. Also the Guitar Hero guitars don't have the hardware to turn on the diffrent guitar effects that you can buy in the Rockband in-game store. But I hope there is a way to turn on effects through the software . Also, how do I do the solos using the X-Plorer and do I need to strum?

I hope the RB guitars work with GH2 because then I can sell BOTH of my GH2 guitars and use the RB Strat. Honestly, I'm not going to buy GH3, after I read the article where Activision called Hmx(Rockband) an imitator I was what the fu*k? Hmx fricking made GH and now they call RB an imitator? Fu*k GH3.

Yeah, that is really messed up. Activision, why don't you go help Neversoft make their silly little skateboarding games and leave the music games to the real music sim game makers: HMX.

Not to put the Tony Hawk games down, though, I love those games lol. I just don't think Neversoft can do GH I and II justice.

Now for another question! The solo fret buttons-- I know you don't have to strum to hit the solo notes, but how exactly will that work? What happens when you have to hit orange 30 times in a row for example (a la "Killing in the Name")? Do you need to press the button 30 times that fast? Or do you just strum that part and hold the button like normal? Surely the latter is the the correct one...

Sean has given a pretty specific answer to the topic in this thread.

Combined with the duplicate topic already active, I don't believe this thread merits further discussion.

This topic is also mentioned in the Rock Band noob guide, currently stickied on this forum.
