Do you guys think it would be a good move to include an option or a code to remover the pitch meter for scoring when somebody is singing?? This way, you could sing the songs how you want with the lyrics and "make it your own"!!!

I think it would be a great feature!!!

Let's just have the drums and guitars be nothing but Big Rock Endings the entire song, too.

Just don't plug in the microphone and sing however you want.

This is a game that rewards you for skill. There has to be some level of difficulty, no?

What I would not mind actually, is a party mode of some sort that is like the practice mode but for full band, so that the band couldn't fail out.

Personally, I would normally play the regular mode anyway, but might be nice for parties where inevitably you get people who don't want to play certain instruments or songs simply because they don't want to see everyone fail out.

But I agree that the major portion of the game needs to be scored for fairly obvious reasons.

SWEET!!! I'd pay money for that!

I think this would be a great party mode feature but I wouldn't remove the pitch meter. Make it so that nobody fails but still gives you an indication of how well you are doing.

I think a code would be the best option, similar to the one used to unlock all songs but blocks saving in the process. There could be a "No-Fail Party Mode" code that prevents you from failing out, but with a similar negative result such as not being able to get a high score or earn cash in BWT or something like that.

Karaoke mode for the singer while the rest of the band still has to pass the song. Not a bad idea for drunken parties. :D

Sure, this is a game of skill but it also has a huge party and casual factor. I am not saying remove it totally, just add an option where the lyrics are on the screen and you could sing them how you want without being penallized...

The negative side to it would be you could only play on quickplay and it doesnt save.

Or you can just buy a karaoke machine.

actually if there is anything I would like improved for RB2 vocals, it would be an improved practice mode that has the song broken down into parts like the other instruments as well as a better detection system for talkies. other than that, the vocal system I think is fine as is. :)

Seriously, have you guys tried singing on Easy? Its near impossible to fail and you can sing the song and not even sound like it and be completely way off key.

I could beat the guitar and drums on expert but fail singing on easy... tone deaf!!!!

I agree. I would love to practice some parts of the horrible "I Get By" without having to do the whole thing everytime. Also, even though I don't think that I have an accent, I can't seem to speak "Brooklyn" enough for the Beastie Boys.

You could read the declaration of independence into the mic and pass on Easy...

I could go along with a No Fail Mode. Still let someone choose the difficulty and if they end up with 10% of the notes hit, so be it. I would also agree that this should only be available in a Quick Play.

A brain dead, tone deaf, drunk chimp could pass Easy mode on all instruments. Do we really need that?

That's what I was about to say. Easy is a cake-walk on vocals.

Seriously, just play vocals on easy and you'll see what we mean. :)

As for drunken parties, well even the instruments get put down eventually and it just becomes a huge karaoke fest. :p:D

A party mode where you can't fail out would be good idea. When I play with groups, lots of people new to the game have trouble with the drums and vocals.

Ah hah, I wish that were true. I've seen the impossible- especially on drums; people get confused first looking at it and fail out quick.

I no-fail/band practice mode I agree wouldn't be a bad idea, though I kinda don't get a freestyle mode on vocals. In my case my feeling of detachment from the group if I weren't scored to just singing along while the other players are playing 3 members (which I do a lot with much mirth) would be roughly equal.

i don't so much want to see the pitch meter removed, but rather some way to take into account variances of vocals. people have mentioned before about vibrato. i have a natural vibrato that's only been accentuated by classical training.

i don't sing on RB because i find it boring, frankly. if i want to tone match, i can do that in voice lessons. i'd rather _sing_, using all my skills and talent. that's all singing in RB is for me, at least, tone matching. and, for anyone that's taken voice lessons, they know how boring an hour of tone matching is.

or, here's an option: instead of the pitch bar, put in the vocal line of music. i find that easier to follow than a pitch line where it may or may not mean a 5th, or octave. at least on a staff, i can say, "oh, that's bflat," and know what tone that is.

This is so true. I was playing with a few neighbours the other day, and 8-year-old Brian managed to score 0% on vocals, failed a few times, but we still passed the song and got on my high scores list! This clearly means that I haven't played that song enough!
