Ok by no way is a dream theater song going to be in that tier....Mike portney will be in in the last or second to last tier in the drum section. The guitar and bass would be around the 5th or 6th tier. As for vocals I dont know how they choose which songs are harder than others actually.
Look at this song on drums played by Mike Portney himself!!
http://youtube.com/watch?v=wNrXNibNUC4
trust me this isent going to be in the 3rd or 4th tier....
so it has to be Panic Attack by Finger Eleven :( :( :(
I REALLY hope im wrong though...

Solid Songs (2). Im assuming this means 2 of the songs are "Solid" tiered. And yes, everything with Dream Theater attached to it is asking for final tier.

Guitar on the song is easy enough for 3rd or 4th tier. Same thing throughout. Only the solo is a bit tricky.
And we don't know if the sorting is correct (2 songs? There's more than that shown) or if it's on drums, guitar, vocals, or bass. I can believe that it's on tier 1-4 on vocals easily.

Guitar on it wouldnt be that easy, I put John Petrucci in the highest tier of guitarists to ever walk the earth. I think hes been to G3 more than any other guitarist. He is both incredibly fast (200+ bpm) and accurate live.

I guess it's how I'm listening to it then... Idk, it sounds pretty straightforward to me.

I don't get what the hell you're saying kid.
But anyways, I can't see it being the Finger Eleven song. I mean... I don't think anyone's ever heard of their version. They're only really known for two songs, "Paralyzer" and "One Thing"
IMPORTANT NOTE:

"Paralyzer" will be featured in Rock Revolution... and you guys know how much these games like to share songs.

I think they suck. It's funny how the 32nd notes impress the kids so easily. The melody is frail.

They gotta pick it up somewhere between Dragonforce and Kanye West.

After listening to the song, I could easily see it being low vocal tiers. Although they may be excellent technically on their instruments, their vocals skills are somewhat lacking.
Daytman
07-02-2008, 03:56 AM
Yeah, they do sound easy... but I have to debate the term vocal skills.
Is there a good vocalist? Many pop singers have great voices but are boring. Many rock stars have bad voices but are entertaining. Serj Tankian has a weird voice, but he's very famous and widely renowned. Same with Claudio Sanchez.
And on skill... how can you rate vocals? On expert, I couldn't pass "Maps" (Tier 1) but I got 94% on "Highway Star" (Tier 9). I don't get how they rate vocals at all... I mean, you can either sing it or you can't, it's hard (maybe not impossible) to get past.

Frequent note changes and length of held notes are what determines the vocal difficulty the most.

Wow, I don't seem to understand all this hate for Dream Theater. Let me first start off by saying that I haven't followed this band for quite a few years so I'm not familiar with anything they've really done in the last 10 years or so. I think they ended up much heavier then when I was familiar with them in the early 90's.
Anyway their lasting impression to me was they were known back then to easily be one of the tightest sounding bands you could lay your ears on. A song that comes to mind was 'Pull me Under' for example. The technical proficiency of each member in the band was incredible. In fact I could only think of a few bands that could play that persice, Metal Church is one that comes to mind.
But as I mentioned before, I haven't followed what Dream Theater has done since then. I just remember that hearing them back then would give you goose bumps because of the talent and accuracy of the band and their music. I don't know, maybe they've changed.
Also, some of the speed in their songs wasn't the impressive part, but again the accuracy of the entire band playing at whatever speed. So no, 32nd notes isn't enough to impress me. But then again I just turned 40 and have been playing drums for over 25 years-off and on anyway. So I would say with my musical background, I knew then and now what to listen for in a band to hear any talent. But like I said, maybe they have changed since then. I guess I'll have to listen to some of their newer stuff and see if I'm missing what you guys are talking about. Newer meaning at least their material in the last 10 years. Mostly because I buy my music usually unheard because I haven't watched TV or listened to the radio for well over 15 years for the most part...did that make sence?:p
Anyway, this isn't a bash post or whatnot, just curious as to why all this hate to at least a once very talented group of musicians. Maybe you guys know something I don't. I personally would love to have DT in RB2, at least the DT that I was familiar with.;):)

People who hate on Dream Theater just do so to be pretentious. They dont go out and run their mouth (Mike Portnoy, the drummer, as been known to talk his game about his drumming) but they dont hate on other bands or musical styles. Its always been about the music for them, and theyve won a lot of awards (Portnoy is the youngest drummer ever inducted into the Rock Drummer Hall of Fame).

If you dont like Metal and you dont like Progressive Rock, you probably wont like Dream Theater. If you like metal and you like prog rock... you will like Dream Theater. It can be as simple as that, which doesnt warrant any hate.

Just wanted to point out that how complicated/difficult a song is, whether in RB or real life, does not make it good.
Music, as in everything, is subjective. Some people will like it, some will hate, whether it is critically acclaimed or technically impressive.

THANK YOU.......most intellegent post of the thread...
I have heard some of their recent stuff, they are still great. Some of their songs I like, some I dont. That being said, anyone who knows anything about music will notify their talent.....not simple aww they suck, im going back to listening to Fall out boy and My Chemical Romance!
I feel sad for the quality of music of my generation, it is sad you have to really search for quality modern music. My generation is going to be remembered by things like soulja boy and scene bands!

I've only heard the "Awake" album but it's pretty good, and I've known of Petrucci for as long as I can remember. I also don't really understand how anyone could not recognize their talent, but there's always going to be the one or two people that just have to complain. (also, I'm listening to MCR right now....sorry :p)

Keep in mind that it's possible that screen is early, and will not reflect the final product. At least, I hope, because in my opinion, Dream Theater is much better than finger eleven.

I wouldn't get upset yet about the screen shot. ALL of the songs were listed in the same tier. Chop Suey, Ace of Spades, Pinball Wizard... I seriously doubt they have been formally tiered yet, if they're in the game. Which I hope they are as that tiny leaked list is full of awesomeness.

Well then ace of spades isnt by motorhead either, c ause that really isn't a "solid" song. The tiers probably aren't compiled yet.

I don't think that "The drums would be virtually impossible for anyone without 10+ years of drumming experience" is an outlandish reason :p

No one needs to get up in arms yet. Way too early to decide. I will however, accept any DT gladly (bar maybe Octavarium). I'll dig up the link, but I remember someone posting a few months ago that Portnoy was more than willing to include their songs in GH/RB... so at least the logic lines up for the time being.

Yeah it's a pretty sad generation for music in my opinion. Some bands break the mold, but most aren't very good in my opinion.

I don't actually know, but based on extreme number of fan requests (similar to the crazy fan requests for Muse) I would guess that direction.
Also, having listened to the song it just fits the "flavor" of a good rock band track.
