MTV Games and Harmonix will debut "Rock Band 2" on Microsoft's Xbox 360 in September then make the game available for Sony's PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 2 as well as Nintendo's Wii later in the year.
If this is true, I feel like an ass for dissing HMX. If it comes to Wii, I hope they can figure out DLC.

Assuming they plan on implementing DLC, how will they handle people who purchase track packs on Rock Band 1? Will those songs simply not be available? Will they have to purchase it again? What about the bonus songs on the Wii version - will those be available as DLC?
I'm holding my breath and not expecting anything more than a delayed PS2 port again :(

Do you mean people who buy DLC for RB1 on the 360 or PS3, and then buy RB2 for the Wii? Are songs cross-platform anyway?
I think IF Activision can pull off DLC for GH:WT, HMX won't have any choice BUT to do something more this time. Plus they've had a few more months (or Pi Studios, or whoever) to play with the system.

No, I meant people who buy the track packs for Rock Band 1 on the Wii. Does Harmonix intend on making that "DLC" compatible? How will the issue be handled?

The actual press release said "additional platforms". I read that as meaning one of the following combinations (in order of likelihood):
1) PS2, PS3, Wii
2) PS3, Wii
3) PS2, PS3
4) PS2, Wii
Honestly, I'm hoping for #2, because the PS2 needs to die before developers will utilize the full potential of the Wii.

my problem is that RB2 sounds like it is RB with a key chain added I mean RB won't even be a year old when RB2 comes out for 360 and it leaves me wondering what they're thinking, RB2 might get the first say but that allows GH a chance make sure there game has everything to compete and putting the game out on Xbox only how will that destroy the market for GH it will only reduce it, this might be well thought out but I don't see how
