The game's retail debut will coincide with the launch of a new community Web site, RockBand.com. Harmonix has made no secret that it has wanted to accent some of the social aspects of the Rock Band experience, and the revamped Web site will feature leaderboards, personalized band pages touting the group's accomplishments, individual blogs, forums, and even a "classified section" to help bands fill out their lineups. Eventually the site will also have a "photo creator" function that will allow gamers to set and light a photo shoot starring their characters to further shape their bands' images.

Your quote was repeated. But will the forums be erased? Doubt it but I've seen that happen.

That would be cool. I just hope the members of the board get something like a free download, that would be awesome.

sounds cool... I can't wait, man... pictures, blogs, leaderboards, band pages, it'll be like a mini-myspace!
but seriously, ever since Halo 2 and Bungie.net, i've always liked it when a game incorperated a website into thier game...

You left out to the best part! For those that didn't/don't click the link, Rock Band will undoubtedly be released on November 20th.
Would-be Rock Band purchasers sharpening their knives and survival instincts in anticipation of dealing with the consumption-mad masses on the game's originally announced Black Friday release date of November 23 can relax a little. Reps for developer Harmonix today confirmed for GameSpot that the game will now go on sale November 20, three days before "Black Friday," and in time for the Thanksgiving holiday.
I know, we've all known this for a few days, but the info was from an interview and no official statement. This is Official! :D

I hope we're not losing the blog posting, images, friends lists, my page, etc. That kind of stuff is what one ups the crappy traditional message board.

I have a feeling these forums will just be integrated into the rest of the plans that they have with the community aspect of Rock Band. It all sounds amazing, my anticipation is growing with all the news that is coming and with each day that brings us closer to the 20th.

I hope the forums won't be deleted...
It's important to have those remaining memories of people repeatedly asking how much the bundle is...
...ah.... memories!

I'm not trying to stir up any sh!t here ,but after reading that artical from gamespot I'm even more convinced that HMX will bring out a patch for WBT online. This is of course my own opinion! But seeing what they have done just with the online network makes me believe that there is no reson why they wouldn't.
This game just continues to amaze me!

Exactly! For all you freaks that are worried about losing your current particulars of the community now, don't sweat it. I'm sure it will all be added into and revised with this board. So no need to worry about losing your ridiculous amount of posts, blogs, and your friends. :)

As long as it's still compatible with my PSP browser and doesn't cause it to crash I'm happy.

I gotta agree. It seems.. just... WEIRD that they'd repeatedly point out "Find people for your online band!" as a feature, and then... there's no online band functionality? Whaaa? Bait and switch ahoy!
Reaction's gonna be terrible, folks -- I've been on other forums and anytime someone mentions "You know there's no online BWT, right?" Shock and Awe ensue. We here on the RB forums are the only ones who really know this, word hasn't leaked out very far, very fast. And every response to the news has been negative.
HOWEVER... if they plan to patch it in, though, rather than pushing it off for next year's retail box, the press release about the site makes more sense. Granted that's not a lock, it's only a vague prediction. Unless "form a band online" means "do a bunch of structureless quick play sessions with your friends" in PR-speak.

Didn't they say that you could progress with your character & unlock items such as venues, songs & such while playing in an online quickplay band??
I could have sworn that I read in one of these threads that both Solo Play & Online Quickplay would help your character progress in the BWT.
(Please correct me if I'm getting it all wrong. *laugh*)

This is all just too damn awesome, and I can't wait to play with that photoshoot thing.
