Anyone else noticed an increasing number of people who seem to get offended if don't type every post like it determines whether or not you get into college?
Sooo, what's more acceptable: lol or being an dick?

just as long as you know there's a difference outside of the web. My wife's an english teacher in high school, and the kids are always writing their essays like they're on MSN or somethin'...
I'll never correct anyone though...it's a forum, who cares?

Haha I'm not saying people should talk like they learned English an hour before joining the forums or anything, it's just getting to the point where if you use acronyms, speak in a conversational tone, or don't give some long winded, deep discussion on everything you say, you'll get flamed.

first...it's a small pic so you can't really see. I do look young, I wouldn't say 16, but most people give me 20-23. When I'm 60 I'll look 40, so that is cool..
oh...just a wife, no kids yet..

oh i misread your post. i thought you said YOUR kids instead of THE kids.
and yeah kutsic i agree. being a grammer nazi on an internet forum for a ****ing video game is absurd. if you're going to mock someone for their grammor do it while reading an essay or something that has to do with education. this is said to be a community where you're supposed to interact formally with other future rock banders not a place where you judge by spollung and grummyr

The only time I've seen it mentioned is when People Type Like This Cuz What's Really Happening Is They're Posting In All Upper-Case But The Forum Software Changes It To This Mixed-Case Mess.
Wow, that was more annoying to do than I thought it would be.

However, on the flip-side of that arguement, if you don't provided a well-worded deep discussion on a topic you can easily be written off as ignorant and not really qualified to speak on said topic. Your opinion will be written off and you will not have an opportunity to perhaps inform people a subject.
For example, I absolutely despise these posts that just say "Thats the w0rst muzak evar" (misspelling is intentional). There's no reasons given for why the poster feels this way, nor what music they feel is good.
I'm not one of these people who will analyze your post for little grammatical errors and I often let spelling errors slide because I chalk it up to typos so it's all good. HOWEVER, please provide deep discussion to your posts. You'll notice that a lot of my posts on this forum are fairly long (this one included) as I like to discuss things. I'm disappointed when members don't articulate themselves and we should all be striving to be involved in intelligent conversation, whether in real life or on this board.
Be that as it may, please stay away from l33t speak, as it is perhaps the most incomprehensible piece of garbage on the net (and that is saying a lot). I have no idea who came up with the idea for it but I wish it would just die already. Everytime I see someone use it I want to put my fist through the computer screen. What's especially bad is that kids are now using it outside of the net and for school papers and the like. It's a plague on this world and I hope all teachers take steps to ensure that it does not penetrate any further.
Sorry..... rant over.
