My dream songs to play would be the Beatles (I'm sure hard to sign), The Beach Boys, The Ventures, Elvis, Johnny Cash, more Rolling Stones, and some other big acts. I would love to see more diversity in the game. I am very happy to see the Rolling Stones in there but we need more. If by some miracle, you could release Beatles albums, you would make a fortune. My money is just waiting to be spent for that. I'm hoping for expansion packs like the Guitar Hero Rocks the 80s except for every decade. Please don't limit it to current rock, metal, and punk music. I can't wait for this game but I hope you will expand the scope of music even more than you have.

Man, how can you mention the 60s and not mention Cream? Killer guitar, awesome drums, and great bass. Vocals are usually pretty good, too.

I agree. I don't adore 50's and 60's but would totally buy a beatles DLC album.

Actually, I thought of Cream and thought they were in the game, but I was thinking about GH instead. I'm all for Eric Clapton in the game! Cocaine, Layla, all of those would be awesome to play!

With Gimmie Shelter already on the game. "Let it Bleed" would be amazing for an album DLC.
We also need some Beach Boys and Chuck Berry for the 50's and 60's.

Those would be great to have too! There are so many great songs from that era that they could have enough DLC for years. They should have a 50s pack, a 60s pack, a 70's pack, an 80's pack, etc. The possibilities are endless if you think about it. They could have a British Invasion Pack or a Psychedelic Pack for example. I could end up spending a fortune on DLC alone! :)

Chuck Berry would be great too. I'm really surprised on the lack of songs on Rock Band of that era. All we have is The Rolling Stones which is great, but I really hoped for some more. Has anyone heard of any others songs from that era being included?

How can you mention Cream and not mention The Band and their debut album Music From Big Pink ----Eric Clapton cites the album's roots rock style as what convinced him to quit Cream, and pursue the styles of Blind Faith, Delaney and Bonnie and his debut album. (touch of cut and paste there) :p
Man I'm gonna keep pimpin' The Band til they get some Propers!! Start with their 2nd (self-titled) album and enjoy! ohh soo goooooddd drools

Because I think Eric Clapton was at his best when he was with Cream or Derek and the Dominoes.
Although Derek and the Dominoes was 70s, which is why I mentioned Cream.
Also, Cream never released an album with artistic inspiration that boiled down to, "I'm hot for George Harrison's wife."

I agree this game needs more songs from the 50's and 60's. So far their has only been 1 60's song announced and 0 50's songs now that's messed up.

Thank God for you, Wings.
I'm not as pissed about the confirmed set anymore. I'm still pretty pissed, but not as pissed.
Cream is awesome, Clapton = God/God derivitave, Toad should have been drum final song, etc.

Definitely. Every drummer in a band after the 60s owes an enormous debt to Ginger Baker.

yeah man I wasn't being serious although it's a true story apparently (ironically Harrison was also very moved and influenced by the album Music from Big Pink and the Band as well)
whatevers clever man!

Personally, I have a hard time considering much from the 60's (and especially the 50's) as rock. I see lots of bluesy stuff, some poppy stuff (pun intended), and some folksy stuff. However, very little of it makes me want to say, "WOW, that rocks!" Also, let's face it, a lot of the music from that era is well...
<puts on flame-******ant suit>
boring.
I'll make a big exception for Cream, but I feel that typically, groups like the Beatles would make a horrible choice for this game, compared to better bands with more complex music and typically better vocals from the 70's. As for DLC, I have no problem with it. Make a 50's/60's era DLC pack, sure. I'm great with that. However, I don't think you can make a really strong argument for 50's/60's era music over the vast amount of rock from the 70's on that HMX simply couldn't fit into the game at this point.
It's just my opinion, and you're welcome to differ. Keep in mind I was born in 1970, so it's not like I'm some teenager who wasn't exposed to this music growing up. Cheers!

I was born in 83, and there's nothing I want more than 50/60/70s classics in this game...who cares if they're not as complex to play? They'd be more fun, and on the vocals side more accessible for most...Gimme a Best of Beatles and I'd buy it all...Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly, Stones, Zep, etc. I could go on forever...the more Classic tunes they put up, the more money I'll be shelling out...

They may not be as complex but they are better to rock out to. Although the Beatles aren't among that group as a lot of their music is very complex. How about a Day in the Life or even Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band? Or Good Vibrations from the Beach Boys? There's a ton of great older music that is comlex and would be fun to play that isn't being included. I just hope it will be downloadable later.

Jimi Hendrix, Allman Brothers Band, Led Zeppelin, The Band, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Grateful Dead(DLC!), Jethro Tull, etc...
Lotta good stuff that could be in the game from the 60s, but 50s is too far back for me.. I haven't even begun listening to much from back then besides chuck berry!
Edit: I am pretty upset that not one person has mentioned Jimi Hendrix.. or maybe I missed it! Come on Hendrix Experience people!! (except Viru)

Jimi is a must, seriously Jimi H is godlike and it would be incredible. I would definately pay for DLC albums from him.
More Rolling Stones DLC wouldn't go a miss either.

I am surprised that there is no Hendrix music in there. Harmonix should listen to the American Graffiti album for ideas.

My favorite bands are The Stones so I would love some older rock. The problem is that back then the master recording usually had all the instruments & vocals recorded on the same track.
If Harmonix cannot separate each part, they cannot use the song.
For this reason "Paint It Black" on GH3 was a one player song. When you play that song if you pay attention you will noticed that when you miss a note all the guitars cut out, not just the one you are playing.

Hopefully if it's been remastered they can separate them. I would love more Stones! I would also like to see While My Guitar Gently Weeps or Twist and Shout. Although it's not from the 50s or 60s, I would love to play Live and Let Die. That would be awesome!

QFT!
Seriously, The Band being so under appreciated by people always blows my mind. I don't expect everyone to know everything about every band, but it's not like they don't have their fair share of "famous songs". Songs like "Up On Cripple Creek", "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down" and the generation defining "The Weight" are all extremely recognizable classic rock anthems and should warrant serious DLC pressure from music fans.
That said, I rarely see anyone calling for The Band at the rate of other classic rock band.
If you haven't seen it, you should really check out "The Last Waltz" (directed by Martin Scorsese) as its generally considered the greatest concert film of all-time (although its second in my book to Stop Making Sense).
