I think it's Electric Version, but the sound was all weird so there's no way to be sure.

I need to know this song, guys! Candidates are Use It, Jackie Dressied in Cobras, All The Old Showstoppers, Sing me Spanish Techno...
Can someone toss out a phrase or some lyrics?
Going to see them live in seven days!

Yay! I suggested these guys :D:D:D Glad to hear Harmonix listened... I believe I suggested either Sing Me Spanish Techno or The Bones of An Idol... if it's either of them I'll be so happy. Anything off Twin Cinema really!

if its the song electric version then here are the lyrics
The sound of God is the screech of tires, lights and magnets, bolts and wires, strayed from the road, this very one
Still to come, the sound of tires is the sound of God, the electric version
The power and blood will pulse through your song, just as long as it sounds lost, streaming out of the magnets
Strung together like Christmas lights, twelve whole seconds of history might lead you from where you went off the track welcome back
Our electric version calls, you alone create the full spectrum of light, so what could go wrong? Just as long as it sounds lost, streaming out of the magnets
The card you're dealt by the crowd goes wild, make believe you are an only child
Here are the clothes, please put them on
Still to come, a new parade of faith and sparks, the electric version harks back to the day when there was no wrong just as long as it sounds lost, streaming out of the magnets

Is this going to be bonus or main setlist?

I think this is a main setlist song. I don't think The New Pornographers are quite obscure enough to be relegated to the bonus section.

Maybe it'll grow on me like Maps did, but I do not like that song at all.

Ive never heard any of thier songs, but I've heard enough ABOUT them to know they have to be pretty good. I'm very excited to go home and check out some songs of thiers and see what I think.
I have to say - I think I've hit the point that I'm pretty excited with every new song announced. The number of songs I HAVEN'T liked in ANY Harmonix game is pretty low, and the number of songs and bands I've never heard of and ended up becoming a fan of is MUCH higher. I pretty much trust them at this point that if it's in there, it's going to be good.

Yeah, if this song was announced a few weeks ago, I'd be pretty stoked, but when there's only six (well, five now) songs left, I kinda hope it's bonus.
Looks like fun charts all around, though. And the song isn't bad, so it'll probably end up growing on me.

You too? I'm not alone!
Me three. I'm not too happy with the newer songs (regarding the year they're from, not the order they were announced) picked for RB, but I won't really complain, because I can just not play them as much. I don't listen to much newer music, and by new I mean anything after 1990'ish, even though I was only 6 back then. I liked the Franz Ferdinand song in GH1 (Take Me Out) because it was that sort of laid back/fun type of song that you could turn up really loud and enjoy. I was hoping for another song like that, maybe like The Killer's Mr. Brightside, where I could enjoy the guitar, but also just bang on the drums. I'm happy with the set list, as is, but I was just hoping to see a few more songs I liked in the remaining set. I guess we'll see tomorrow.

I'm really banking on the bonus songs to deliver the variety. Harmonix has blatantly said they want to get as far away from GH as possible and deliver the type of music they couldn't do in GH. They're leaning very much toward alternative and mainstream versus the metal and hard rock that GH carries.
If you don't like alternative, punk, or mainstream you really need to leave...now.

Why do you have to throw punk in that list, do you want me to cry? :(

Great song, buti'm afraid it will be too *** for most.
Its like Rock Band is making this game just for me. Its scary. The Hives, Pixies, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, etc.
Now throw on Interpol and Pavement and I'm set!
Keep up the great work guys!!!!

Mediocre song by a mediocre band. Meh.
Man, I can't believe how mediocre the setlist is turning out to be after starting out so awesomely with Paranoid, In Bloom & Won't Get Fooled Again.

Interpol would be a awesome addition to RB. Hopefully we can get full album downloads from them.

I think when people get the game in their hands they will suddenly be hit with a bunch of "Oh **** I forgot this was in the game, awesome!" I think the past few smaller (though small doesn't mean worse) announcements are fresh in peoples minds and causing a sense of pessimism. Just look over the Song Info thread and it will be reassuring enough.

To be fair, the main site for Rock Band says you'll be able to "rock out to the legends of punk, metal, alternative, southern, and classic rock."
Now some of those genres have had their quota of songs more than satisfied (alternative, classic rock), while others have been practically ignored (metal).

metal?
there is to much double bass in metal. most metal has a lot of just screaming, and either a lot of chords or hard as **** shredding. i hope that rock band will go towards a lot more blues rock direction also and put full album downloads of jimi hendrix and srv(please, i would have bought rock band just for them, and zepp also)!!!!!
not bashing on metal. i feel the blues tho, lot of bends, good blues beats and some good jazzy drum beats too. almost always and get a good bass groove. and you always feel the lyrics.
that music isn't made for the mainstream now but should be reprsented still
what about some john mayer for album download? that is some good **** too

Iron Maiden, Pantera, Motley Crue Ozzy, Judas Priest, Megadeth. These are metal bands that have had hits and also have good guitar parts. 'Hallowed Be Thy Name' by Iron Maiden or 'Cemetary Gates' by Pantera or 'Kickstart My Heart' by Motley Crue would all rock the casbah.

Really digging that TNP will be in the game, one of my favorite bands! Electric Version wouldn't be my first pick, but I won't complain too much. I think The Bleeding Heart Show has some great "band moments" with the build-up to rock-out. Harmonix never disappoints! More TNP for DLC!!
Jon_Snow

Yeah, Bleeding Heart Show is pretty much the pinnacle of TNP's music... don't know how it would work for Rockband - it is pretty chorus heavy at times.

Holy poop this is awesome news. The New Pornographers are one of the best indie pop bands of the past 10 years. I don't care that they're not rock, I don't care that they're not metal, all I care about is they have great melodies and their songs are just downright fun.
Remember fun, guys? Remember what it was like to listen to a song and have a smile on your face? Yeah, that's what The New Pornographers are, fun music. And if you think for a second that fun = simple, you're insane. They've got complex melodies and really intricate arrangements.
This is just so damn good. I'm not gonna say this is up there with the Orange Crush announcement for me, but it's damn damn DAMN close. The only thing that would have put it in front is if Bleeding Heart Show were announced instead, but this is still so frackin' awesome.
EDIT: I just watched the trailer on which this song appears, and while I admit the sound quality is pretty rough, it kinda sounds like this might be a cover. That's not a bad thing at all, it still sounds convincing, but I was really looking forward to hearing Neko Case's awesome backup vocals.
Oh, and this song is gonna be a pretty tough vocal song. AC Newman (the lead singer) has a very distinct vocal style that switches registers at will it seems sometimes.

I can't get the trailer to play right in my QuickTime, but there is no reason why this song would be a cover. I doubt the masters to this four-year-old album are lost to the mists of time, and if TNP told MTV they couldn't have the masters, I think MTV would have moved on.
Very excited about the song, but if I had one complaint about it... not enough Neko.

Well, to be fair, that's been my complaint about every song I've heard from any band in the past three years.
I'm Neko smitten.
