A metal band from Coweta, OK is going to include one of their songs in ROCK BAND.

You can listen to the song, Nightmare, on their myspace page. This is (supposedly) the song they're going to include. I have a VERY reliable source that claims this song will be attached to the game - I'm 95% certain it will be included, but I doubt anyone on the forums will give two sh*ts if it's cut / doesn't appear.

You're right I wouldn't give a shìt if they're cut but I wouldn't mind it if they made it either.

Do I hear double bass?

I wouldn't give a sh*t either way. But I also think this is just some poor attempt for you to promote yours, or your friend's band or something.

It sounds...okay. It would make a decent addition if true. Interesting that these are 13-year-old kids, though.

The Hanson of rock? What's with Oklahoma?

Not at all. The guys in this band are complete douchebags and I've never been to a single show of theirs.

So what's your "very reliable source" ?

the music sounds ok, but the kiddyish voice throws it off imo

Someone connected to the band. He talks about 'em a lot when I'm with him, and this nugget of info slipped out when he and I were talking. Could be total bullsh*t, but I don't know why he'd tell me this if it's not somewhat reliable. I don't think I've ever mentioned that I enjoy RB, and I know I've never said that I visit this forum.

for their age, pretty sweet.. in general.. no thanks, i'd rather have a more talented, interesting band take the spot. seems like a waste. would be great for their exposure though.

Can't imagine what they will be like in 7 years.

That's why you support the revolution early.

Sounds very amatuer-ish, but decent nonetheless. It takes a whole minute for the song to pick up steam and that seems like it'd be boring to play. I still don't understand what the deal is with announcing all these unknown bands for bonus stuff. The main setlist is what I care about most.

Wow, the guitar had me for a second, but the instant this kid started singing, I was like game over. You can heard him like trying to sound like he's older, please for the love of god do not let them in, this is an exclusive club, book your babysitters in advance, don't crash my party! (I only say this because kid bands, metal or no, all suck!)

Did their parents have to sign a permission slip for them to be in the game?

I agree their good for their age but overall their just okay. Their are more deserving bands for the game. Maybe these kids will be good in like 6 or 7 years.

I just told this bit of news to my friend on MSN and he just absolutely ripped them.

"The riff on nightmare is ripped off from wasted years by iron maiden, the vocal is a cheap dave mustaine immitation crossed with james hetfield, there's nothing original about these guys whatsoever, this guy is like a little wannabe james hetfield, and they ARE rip offs"

I find it hard to believe, just because with the general lack of metal in Rock Band (a good decision, I'd argue, to save the metal for DLC) this seems like the last choice on anybody's list for metal bands they'd like to see in the game. It's so simple and bland - someone's clearly thrown a lot of money at them, but it's still pretty sad. I can imagine a world where HMX agreed to do it for access to the other artists with the same management/publicity firm (Scorpions and Motley Crue, at least) but I'd still be surprised.

WTH? They just totally copied the intro riff to Iron Maiden's Wasted Years!!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SwB9zg7Tbx8

Listen to Nightmare and tell me they didnt just rip off that riff^!

If theyre going to put a metal band in there, why couldnt they put in a actually decent one which isnt ripping off other artists music?

Or at least a band that has a collective age over 20.. :P

I'm not mocking their age, hell they have more talent than 20 Rooks put together. But I have a hard time feeling their "metal" when the only real life they've experienced is Junior High.

Unfortunately, it looks very corporate........like someone said before, someone threw money at them - it didnt help.
Although, I dont care anymore, as soon as I heard them rip-off Wasted Years it was instant "EPIC PHAIL!". If they were covering it fine, but using the riff quite obviously and not even saying anywhere that its a tribute to Maiden or anything,......it stinks of them trying to get big off other peoples art basically. (plus they cant even play the riff accurately, but thats more to do with them not actually being Maiden, so whatever)

Eh, I don't know that it would matter either way for me. While this is definitely a corporate band with a somewhat manufactured feel, it would make business sense to have them in a video game, as that market is traditionally associated with kids.

I find it odd that people on these forums often take great offense to band selections for the disk, but even more odd for the bonus tracks. I've continued to consider them "bonus", above and beyond the track list, and they can never be a bad thing. "Red Lottery" was probably one of the worst songs I've ever listened to all the way through, but these games are still fun enough to play through even a crappy song and have fun. And thanks to the "daring" music selection for bonus tracks, I've found some neat new bands that I wouldn't have otherwise heard.

If these tots end up as a bonus track, no big deal. I probably won't play the track too much, but it'll still be fun. I lean towards the side of "completely unsubstantiated rumor," but I don't see any big down side to it going either way.

This generation really doesn't need its own Silverchair.

This is sounds like rock with training wheels.

Hahahaha... in the video on their myspace that drummer is brutal.

They definitely get props for their age, but I don't want to play this in RB sorry. :P

They sounds ok, I don't know how often I'll be playing this one though. I kinda hope they aren't in the game, but I can handle them being in it. The song will probably grow on me, most songs I don't know that are in games like this tend to do just that.

Oh, I dont take great offense from proper music being put on the disk, I take offence when they get some stupid corporate kids band that has blatantly ripped off a guitar riff from my fave band ever.
I would love more new bands that I havent heard of, even in other genres of music. But to have stuff like this makes me sick. Do we really want to be sponsoring bands which can get away with just using older bands music? Are we going to throw originality out the window?

i think that this game is moving rap out of mtv and moving rock n roll and the music back where it should be. i think these kids will be a new face for rock in the next year or 2.
and one more thing on mtv. stop with all the *** tennie bopper shows, show more music, do live perforances , bring unplugged back weekly. bring music back to shows

Okay, seems fair. Corporate bands do blow.
