I doubt Sean or John will be around to post a blog summary today, so I wanted to call people's attention to Dan's latest:

12 70's songs so far so that confirms one more on the way.

He answered my wonderful question. Only one band leader, o well no biggie. Seamless setlists sound awesome. also he said the "13-song 70's setlist". How many 70's songs have been announced?

nevermind thanks foolosophy!

nevermind I got it. Cool to see that performing on stage is more like actually performing a gig, unlike in GH

that was a nice snippet of information, I'm so happy about the streaming setlists. I'd rather wait longer looking at my characters just hang out than see a load screen for a split second. It's strange, but this is a big deal for me :P

Yes, seamless setlists is AWESOME. I really was hoping for that but kinda just assumed it wouldn't be possible. So cool...thanks hmx!

Cool, I've been wanting this since GHII.:D

Having seamless setlists is great. I always found that to be really lacking in the GH games...A great challenge would've been having to play more and more songs at a show as you went from a band at the "battle of the bands" to a headliner.

Another great example of making Rock Band feel like you're actually in a band playing music. Nicely done as always, HMX!

Now that seamless setlists is 100% there, who else is trying to figure out passages to take a bathroom break in endless setlist mode?

Although I'm sure 'pause' will be an option, I'm starting to think the REAL reason the whole keyboard part in "Wont Get Fooled Again" is there so everyone can run out, hit the bathroom, grab a brew and be back in time for the YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

Just like being in a band for real!

Slightly off-topic:
One of my friends races full-length online races and can take a bathroom break during the pit stop, usually between 14-20 seconds.

In a bottle? Otherwise that seems... challenging. :)

You should be able to make your own custom set lists and have them be as long as you want them.

like 30 songs!!

or the rumor that there really long marathon set lists is true, that would be cool

Nope, he made it from his racing seat, across his dorm room to the bathroom, did his business, and back. He always wore pajama pants so that belts would not be an issue. The rest is just running fast and having strong muscles ;)

Rock Band: It's fun, loud, AND builds muscle.

I love how you said muscle, which implies only one...

But this announcement is awesome. It's really lame in GHIII that there's a loading screen in the middle of the last song on career. Was that really necessary? This is one of the little things that will make Rock Band the better game. (Although I'm glad to have Guitar Hero to bide the time until the 20th.)

Why, of course he means the calf muscle for those expert drummers. What else could he have implied ;)

lol WHAT? ARE YOU SERIOUS? That's funny as hell. What is the last song btw?

Devil Went Down to Georgia - Charlie Daniels Band

And is there REALLY a loading screen, or just a cutscene? Either way, ROFLCOPTER!

Really a loading screen.

Also, who thinks the 90s setlist is in Seattle?

mxmarks
10-26-2007, 10:48 AM
An IGN preview of the menus showed the Seattle list. It had REM, Soundgarden, Nirvana and Foo Fighters as single songs, then some setlists. I don't know enough about the game to know what those setlists may or may not contain...

bumbousdude25

Don't know about the '90s setlist, but I want to know more about this LOADING SCREEN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DAMN SONG! THAT'S HILARIOUS! :p :p :p :p

Okay, well maybe it's not that funny, especially for you prospective GH III buyers out there, but still.

Rock Band... is going to R-O-C-K, my friends.

(loading screen in the middle of the song... [snicker])

From what I've seen on YouTube, and this is a totally non-biased account, this is FACTUAL:

You "Guitar Battle" Lou, the devil, on a cover of "The Devil Went Down To Georgia". YOu battle back and forth, throwing your power-ups at each other (Lefty Flip, Broken String, ect...) until one of you fails. If the devil fails, the game cuts to a loading screen that says "Now Finish Him Off!" and loads the last part of the song (the lyrics about the guy beating the devil...anyone who knows the actual song will get what I mean) and you play it solo until the end. It does not matter when you beat him in the song, it will cut to that point whenever you have defeated him. The end.

And once you finish, I hope you had fun. The song is NOT available in quick play, single player, co-op or multiplayer battle.

I like '90s... That is probably most of what I will be playing. Well... '70s - '90s. Yeah it probably is in Seattle. Here is the Lou Guitar Battle :)

Edit: Anybody else notice that one of them is playing a Guitar Hero guitar?
That is not the person trying to win, he purposely lost to show the whole thing until the "Death drain" at the end.

I am curious that at one point a Harmonix rep said that the Endless Setlists would take 6 hours.

Now we know that the Main Setlist contains 45 songs that run just over three hours, and the setlists are seamless, and there are only 13 bonus songs. I can't see the Endless Setlist running over 4.5 hours.

Maybe they were assuming you had a bunch of DLC loaded as well...

How 'seamless' are these gonna be? I mean, no loading screens right?

Catalytic
10-26-2007, 05:14 PM
Right, there will be no loading screens (IGN has a story up about this on their front page). It will be nice not to have to go through the load screens and select a bunch of menu options to get from song to song. More rock, less annoyance! :)

In the Friday's IGN article, Dan clearly said that endless setlist would be all of the songs on the disc, so don't think that would be including DLC, otherwise you'd in essence be punished for having DLC on your drive if you tried to get this accomplishment. As to the length of time it would take, I also thought I had heard 6 hours from someone at HMX, but I can't find the specific reference at the moment.
