Stairway's solo is probably the most legendary solo of all time, not particularly complicated, but it has so much feeling and adds so much to the song, no solo can beat it.

Stairway, even though both are overrated.

Comfortably Numb, no contest IMO. Gilmours tone, and phrasing are off the charts on that track and I'm not even a fan of Pink Floyd. Stairways nice but it's not Pages best nor is it close to his best.

Comfortably Numb because (IMO) of a bunch of things. First, I love the tone of the guitar. It just fits the spaciness of the song perfectly and even though theres distortion on it, it still is really smooth. I also think its amazing what David Gilmour does without being a super flashy, shredding guitarist. The ending of its great too, the high notes he hits are beautiful and make such a great climax to the song/solo.

hahaha No Stairways solo is way overrated it sounds like most his other solos too
Comfortably numb is almost perfect I think the song itself is overrated but the solo is defiantly better

Stairways great but highly overrated, i'd go with Comfortably Numb, and imo Gilmour has a few better solos than that too.

Check out Gilmour's solo in One of These Days live in 1988. It's my favourite solo by him.

(solo starting at about 1:40 and continues throughout basically the entire song)

I prefer Comfortably Numb. The tone and emotion in it fits the songs quite well. Stairway's solo has emotion, but it just didn't do it for me. :<

Comfortably Numb. The raw emotion in that whole song and solo is just amazing.:)

I dont think Stairway is Pages best solo. That said I still believe it is better than Comfortably numb.
On a side note Pink Floyd is probably my second favorite band and therefore comfortably numb is one of my all-time favorites.

Agreed completely.

Gotta be Stairway. Love the solo start and the way he changes the mood of the song from triumphant/inspiring to a sort of dark energy that heralds in Plants final yowls of spiritual sounding advice. gives me goosebumps if played loud enough.
Well Comfortably numb does too and it's soooo great, but I just Like Stairway more. Dunno why.

In my opinion, the stairway solo is very boring. It's the song as a whole that is epic, not the solo. It's kind of the opposit with Comfortably Numb. The song is ok/good but the solo is epic.

I have to disagree with you on that. As a whole if you listen to the lyrics and the guitar part Comfortably Numb is more epic. I never get the feeling that when David is playing the solo part it's because a song needs a solo. The feeling of the solo's are very emotional. I miss that with Stairway to heaven. But wish we could just have them both ;)

I'm definitely going with Comfortably Numb on this one.

Comfortably Numb. It's epic in length and epic in style. David Gilmour is my favorite guitarist of all time.

I guess it depends on personnal tastes. Actually, I prefer Pink Floyd and I started to dislike Led Zeppelin but I still believe that Stairway to heaven is great and very epic. But the song that actually means epic for me is Three Days by Jane's Addiction. I don't like all of their work but that song is like a journey for me.
comfortably numb made me cry the first time i heard it....my all time favorite solo
