Halo 3... wtf.

So I've been playing a bit lately online, got some 30 ranks and stuff.. But GOD does halo ever seem broken sometimes. The melee system is crap.. They somehow screwed up sword so that it's failed to hit on numerous occasions when locked on. Just played one where I locked on and gravity hammered the same guy twice, heard the impact... and yet he had no damage and I was killed by brute mauler and beatdown both times, the 2nd time I locked on from inside a bubble shield to him on the outside and he still killed me... What the FLIP, I say! Do you really have time to shoot and beatdown before that thing hits you.. don't think so.

So yeah, I'm really starting to get sick of it. Onlines getting more and more tiresome and i'm sick of BS beatdowns, constantly, or hearing yourself shoot or beatdown a second or two before the other person even sees you and gets a shot off, and yet they get the kill. Seriously, the beatdown system in this game is hideous the majority of the time.

Anybody else getting tired of it? I'm pretty much finished with online at this point.

Yeah it's fun and all, and balanced, but that doesn't make it seamless. I've had a hell of a lot of WTFBULL**** moments in the past 2 days of playing, its starting to get annoying. Gravity hammer or sword lock on should = KILL, not DEATH by beatdown. No way. Theres nothing that pisses me off more than sneaking a few guys and going for the sword kill only to have it lock on and then somehow miss on the lunge... because then youre completely wide open. Instead of a double kill or something, you just die because your weapon failed miserably and didn't work how it's supposed to.

Beatdowns too.... i get pissed when I distinctly hear my beatdown a second before the other guy gets his in, and he gets the kill because I have less health. No... His face was bashed in, and thus he did not have time to beat me down a second later.

In terms of this game, what it means is that when two players with AR's come face to face, you literally have to shoot off just a few extra bullets more than the other guy, beat down a split second after him to win. Thats just chance.. It turns into a game of chicken then to see who's gonna beat down first, and 90% of the time you have no clue whether or not youre going to kill the guy youre running towards. Sometimes you clearly see that you started shooting first and run in for the kill, only to have him start shooting late, turn around and kill you with a beatdown. GARBAGE. There just seems to be too much luck and randomosity involved in melee and it ruins it.

bungie got what was coming. the rush for halo is over and they didn't 'woo' me or any of my friends with h3. it was a major disappointment. the forge was nice but that's about all. the fact that bungie split with microsoft is just stupid. microsoft was a leading factor in halo being successful.

Yeahhh.. I never did get on the whole killer app fanboyism.. But halflife 2 is far more enjoyable for me single player, its written better, all around it destroys halo offline. Include TF2 and theres your replayability for online as soon as they get maps.

Halo 3's online is fun.. but its so bass ackwards sometimes that its unenjoyable. The story is... meh. Never got into it. Nobody there to really draw you into the storyline.. i.e. alyx, dog, 90% of the main characters in halflife 2.

Halflife > Halo, always has, always will, and that's the first and last time I'll ever do a game comparison on here :)

And that is why I am not going to buy it. Yes I know my sig is Halo 3. Only reason it is is because I got bored, made another sig, lots of pics for it due to popularity and there ya go. The only thing good in it is forge and the very last part of the last mission thing (I know somebody that has it).

It definitely needs some work, but overall it's not too bad.

It's the only Halo multiplayer that's worth anything

I've never had a single one of your problems. Check your matchmaking settings and go for best connectivity - itll take longer but its lag free. Check your broadband and also select better matches.

I bought Halo3 couple weeks ago right after I bought my 360, I never played halo game brfore, but I thought if this is the most popular game on the 360 then it must be good...but then...I was so shock...by this kind of quality, no story(bad story) and the graphic isnt too good as well, gameart design is very @#$#, character animation has no weight (during gameplay as well), this is just another online multiplayer shooter game, for people who wants to kill some time and loves this kind of game even after played 1000s of them. What can I say? Microsoft did it again, like most of their products, no quality and no depth, the bad thing is people still buy that, thats why this so called one of the richest country has such a low quality, people!! wake up!!! Most of the money you paid is going to their marketing department rather than development department!!

Whoa whoa whoa. No way. Half-Life and Half-Life 2 are some of the most overrated games ever to exist. They don't have anything special (except for the gravity gun in HL2, God I love that weapon), and the storytelling is absolute crap as a result of the silly insistence on no cutscenes omg. Halo series has an amazing plot, waaaaay better storytelling, and equivalent gameplay. It beats the Half-Life series with both arms tied behind its back. Killer app? Maybe (the PC versions are better), but whether it merits buying an Xbox or not, I maintain that the Halo series (as a whole) is the best FPS ever coded.

Also, even if you're going to pick Half-Life over Halo, CS:S >>> TF2. Come on now.

Edited for afterthought: as a matter of fact, I maintain that Halo wins the FPS battle based on its single-player alone. I never liked Halo's multiplayer, there are far better multiplayer games available.

Maybe it's because my internet's been being crap and not letting me play well online.

I would rather play Halo 1 any day.

It's the same thing as Michael Bay movies in cinema and mainstream music...it appeals to 15 year old guys who don't know any better.

The only thing that redeems H3 is the fact that you can turn the gravity up and make people move faster...they added that for the people who don't enjoy the feel of floating through water that has been in all 3 of the games out of the box.

Sorry, it's trash...play TF2 if you want multiplayer and play Crysis or BioShock if you want singleplayer.

I don't hate Halo 3, so don't think that. I just don't think it lives up to the standards of the first two.

Nice over-generalizations. First of all, elitism is stupid. Saying that something doesn't live up to your standard of quality doesn't make it objectively bad, so no one ever has a right to criticize something for being trash for the masses.

Second, you don't have to be a 15-year-old who doesn't know better to like Halo 3. I happen to be a 22-year-old guy who's played other popular FPS games (including, since you mentioned it, Bioshock), and I find Halo 3 to be superior to them. I've tried what's out there, it just doesn't appeal to me as much as Halo.

Third, Crysis isn't even out yet. Not a valid basis for comparison AT ALL.

It's really not all that spectacular. Theres nothing that stands out about the game at all to make it unique, basically it's just a FPS gamers wet dream online and is uberhyped.
