Since this pack is already being claimed as the best DLC pack ever released before its even out is there anyone who isn't buying the pack? I for one will be buying the whole thing without hesitation but I thought I'd see if my theory that every person on these forums will buy this epic pack is true.

I dont think everyone will buy the whole thing (untill they see the youtube vids that is)
But at least 3/4ths are buying at least one song just my theory
Once the youtube vids go up i think twice as many people will buy the songs

I'm still thinking about Amazing Journey, Real Good Looking Boy, and Leaving Here. Not all that fond of the first two, never heard the last and I don't want to get a false impression by listening to the Pearl Jam cover.
If I like Leaving Here, though, I'll just get the whole pack, because I'm buying everything else fo sho, and those last two would be free anyway.

I just love the lyrics " Aww take a train, fly by plane, Im leaving here, Leaving here"
and it has a guitar solo that sounds kick ass

The Cars failed miserably to be honest. They came close to "cherrybomb" status. As for The Who, not my cup of tea.

I gonna wait and see how they are in the game(especially the live tracks) before I go buying all of it, but I know at this point I am going to buy at least Amazing Journey, Baba O' Riley, Behind Blue Eyes, Sea & Sand, and possibly Who Are You. But once I hear it all I will probably buy the whole thing because The Who are awesome.

Well my gut told me I would enjoy them and I did. As for everybody else, my gut can't call that. My gut did, however, help me avoid a preemptive Doolittle purchase before watching vids.

I ALWAYS watch youtube videos before I download songs. I love Serj Tankian and RHCP, but I made sure to watch the chart before.
But, I might get "Who Are You". Running VERY low on points.

It isn't the Cars' fault people have no taste. Moving in Stereo/All Mixed Up > the majority of the DLC.
(talking musically here. I'll give you that they aren't the most exciting songs to play in the game)

I'm only getting two of the songs as of now (baba o'reilly and behind blue eyes). But I've watched expert charting of every single DLC song ever released, and have bought a few after watching, so I'll do the same this week. I figured I'll probably get more than two though, I haven't heard much of The Who, and since what I've heard was good, I'm assuming the other to be too.

And the numbers will jump when people see the youtube vids
I really wish they gave us a preview
I hope at the VH1 rock honors they have them play the songs on Rockband :p

The only vid that I've seen linked to was a Pearl Jam cover, and I was too lazy to search myself.
I tried watching the vid posted earlier in the topic, but it only plays for two seconds before it stops on me and I can't get it to restart. :(

If there's one thing I can't stand, it's people who think that their musical tastes is "the" musical taste, and say how they "can't understand" how people can be hyped for a band.
Myself, I think Judas Priest kinda sucks outside of SfV (which I still don't think is all that great,) but I still understand that they were/are one of the primary forces in Metal, and a lot of people like their music and thus a lot of people would be hyped for them. It's as simple as that.

The Good thing about the Who is they have songs from the 1960's 1970's 1980's and 2000's in the game :D screw the 90's
Limo Biskits version is no where near as good. Mostly because i dont think it has drums and even if it did it couldent beat moons. And the guitar is no where near as good

...please tell me this was sarcasm. Because I can't imagine Harmonix releasing something so horrible as a Limp Bizkit cover. Fred Durst is a moron when it comes to covers. THE DUDE USED A DAMN SPEAK N SPELL TO REPLACE THE SOLO. :( Yeah, I really want that charted...

At least hair band fans have had several songs (Livin' on a Prayer, Wanted Dead or Alive, Down at the Whisky, and Saints of LA) to look forward to. How do you think the rockabilly, ska, funk, and goth rock fans feel? We haven't received any love from HMX. At all. I mean, 1/4 of the entire Rock Shop is dedicated to goth fashion, but we don't have a single song to go along with the clothes. NiN is /not/ goth, HMX! /rant off

Er, I kinda don't know rock; I got into rb/gh from a friend and gained the fondness for rthymn games from DDR first, so I went to conquer this one. As my tastes don't naturally gravitate towards rock and roll what I like is touch and go, and may or may not coincide with mainstream fans. Apparently the Who is a Big Deal, so I'll look at it, but well, Metallica is supposed to be awesome too, and they just offend my senses for the most part. Won't Be Fooled Again (that's their song right?) is good but I wouldn't have bought it individually.

I know after my last post I sound really angry and venting, but, seriously, you probably have heard a lot of what the Who has to offer. For example, they provide the three CSI themes. Go listen to the 12 tracks see which ones you like, and if you like 10 of them, get the 12 pack (the last two are free :))

I say give the songs a listen to, then make a decision. Some of the songs are must buys... if you are into Rock (which you appear to take or leave).
As for everybody else, please chill out so this thread doesn't get locked. I don't like the Pixies despite constant ranting about their influence on alternative, some people may not like The Who despite their influence on (arguably) all rock. If people don't like classic rock and prefer hair bands, that is their choice. I like both, so I guess I stand alone.

It would be nice if the would do a full album of a current and recent (2000+) band so far just all classic rock, oh well... it's good for the many fans who enjoy who again?

I just can't comprehend how someone can listen to The Seeker, and Won't Get Fooled Again, and think "this song is bad"
It just blows my mind. I guess I am still trying to deal with the fact that people have some pretty weird tastes in music.
It blows my mind too. ESPECIALLY Won't Get Fooled Again. I can't believe anyone can listen to that without loving it...
Though I'm assuming the people who do are more into newer music.

I'm passing on all of it, i dont understand all the hype surrounding these guys, same goes for the Beatles and Zeppelin.
Because this is called ROCK BAND! - Not pop band, folk band or hiphop band:)
Fair enough if you don´t like The Who - but how can you be surprised that people are excited with the game bearing a name like that.
You don´t get much more Original Rock´n Roll than The Who. They pratically invented many of the chords too many record Companies have since sugar coated and wrapped in a shiny package labeled "Rock", to hide the fact that they are selling BS-pop music.
In the Words of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club: Whatever happened to my Rock and Roll - And where is the BRMC DLC by the way??

Dude, i listen to Sugarcult, weezer, TAI..., paramore, pixies, and JEW, and I gaurantee you that every single one of those bands has been influenced in some way by the Who. In particular MCR, given their grandiose nature (I.E. the black parade:Tommy = Rock opera). Why do you think punk bands smashed their guitars? Because The Who did.
Mod music is the foundation for punk, emo, and some metal because of its rebellious nature. The bottom line is that The Who's music was in its own way a revolution. If you can't give them a real chance and try to actually understand the lyrics, then you can't possibly begin to understand it. And if you can't or refuse to understand it, how can you argue that you honestly don't like it.
Give it a chance.

It would be nice if the would do a full album of a current and recent (2000+) band so far just all classic rock, oh well... it's good for the many fans who enjoy who again?
Erm, Judas Priest is metal, The Cars is new wave, and The Pixies is alternative...what's this about classic rock albums? (If you count the Boston pack as an album, then there's still only one out of four.) You should count the music by decades, 00s music far outweighs the rest proportionally (especially because we're not out of the 00s yet...)

Well, that's only being claimed by the people who are going to buy it anyway... so I'm not sure what your point is.
For the record, I'll most likely get a few of the tracks. I estimate 4-6.

“Baba O'Riley” - TEENAGE WASTELAND! DA DA!!!!
“Behind Blue Eyes” - This song was stuck in my head all day yester day!
“Eminence Front” - crazy...I love it!
“Going Mobile” - another maybe
“Leaving Here” - I think i have to..my GF has made threats if I dont
“My Generation” (Live at Leeds) - of course
“Real Good Looking Boy” - my least fav of the songs...the vids would have to be amazing
“Sea & Sand” - another maybe
“Summertime Blues” (Live at Leeds) - another maybe
“Who Are You” - of course
“Young Man Blues” (Live at Leeds) - not a big fan of this one...probably not

For the uninformed people who clamor that their favorite bands are Skid Row and Bowling for Soup:
Baba O'Riley = Teenage Wasteland
Take this upcoming week's DLC as a chance to educate yourself on rock history.
Back on topic and away from these terrible discussions of musical tastes, I will be buying Baba O'Riley, Behind Blue Eyes, My Generation, and Who Are You. I might at some point in the future buy Real Good Looking Boy, Eminence Front, and Summertime Blues. So that's potentially more than half of this pack. There's a bunch of other Who songs I would have bought if they were in this pack (Long Live Rock, The Seeker, Bargain, some of their older stuff)

While we are talking about history, "Real Good Looking Boy" is about Elvis... It was on a The Who best of, but I still concider it more of a Pete solo song since he is singing, not Roger... I still like the song, though.

Well the past few weeks have been very recent stuff, besides last week. Weezer, MTV pack etc... If you check the store based on year you will find that the past two years dominate DLC even though they are lacking any albums. 2008 has the most songs of any year followed by 2007. Trust me, we have enough new stuff for right now

Its certainly fine to dislike groups like that, as long as you recognize just how epic a release it is. There are some AAA bands out there that I don't like that much, (heck, even the Who I didn't really know and only like 60 percent of the songs on the list) but I understand how epic the release is.

Summertime blues is the prefect example

i'm not sure about the who being far more well known than the cars... according to the RIAA the cars have pushed enough units (with 23.5 million units sold) to be in the "top selling artists" list, whereas the who have not... however, the who have more individual gold and platinum albums.
i'd say both bands are actually pretty neck-and-neck in popularity and both are absolutely incredible in my opinion.

Wait...... you're telling me that Limp Bizkit (not a person, by the way) is the reason you're considering Behind Blue Eyes?
I don't understand the way people describe classic rock, either. Slow and boring? What songs are you listening to? Are you adhering to the same definitions of slow and boring as the rest of the world? There was such thing as fast music in the 60s and 70s (even if speed/thrash metal didn't exist yet) - fast music is not an invention of this generation. Not to mention too many people equate fast with exciting, entertaining, or simply, good.
You want fast and exciting? Deep Purple's "Highway Star" and "Fireball." Led Zeppelin's "Achilles Last Stand".

I am happy for everyone that's been waiting for these songs though. I know it's been a long time coming, so I won't take anything away from you all on that front...

No really a huge fan of the Who might pick up one or two tracks but that will be it. I'm really hoping to get another track pack announcement this week. "fingers crossed"
I mean it will give them something to talk about at e3 how they released 15 tracks this week and made it to e3 and activision doesn't even have time to show up

I think it's interesting that Activision gets a Prime Time press conference slot, but Harmonix has to do their demo in the middle of the day when people are at work and less able to see anything... (referring to any television coverage)...
Not that it should be an indicator of any quality, but I know I'd feel a bit snubbed if I were HMX when it came to the time placement of those things... granted, I still have yet to see a commercial on TV for anything Rock Band related, but I see GH:On Tour and GH:Aerosmith commericals all over the place (Spike TV, G4, even network channels)...

"Baba O'Riley" is a definite pick up on Tuesday for me, I'm saving up my MS Points for that! "My Generation" is probably going to get picked up too. I really wish they had "Join Together" and "The Seeker" though :(

I have no choice, these songs are going to be amazingly fun. Plus if anyone asks if "Teenage Wasteland" is in this game I can select "Baba O'Riley" and say "I think you meant Baba O'Riley, because there sure as hell isn't a Teenage Wasteland."

I'm not buying it, i dont like the who. some one else in my house is getting a couple of the songs but as far as im concerned i think the who is an over rated rock band. I will say this I did check out the songs before I decided if my generation wasn't live I'd probably would have gotten that. However it is live and I dont like most live recordings this one not being much of an exception. sorry if anyone is offended that i dont like the who but i could have been a lot meaner.

I've never been a fan of The Who so I won't be buying the whole pack/album. It's not that I think they're bad, they just aren't for me. That said, I do have a soft spot for Behind Blue Eyes. So I will be buying that one song.

Kinda Glad we arent getting that song :p
I mean I admire Townshend going forth with what he originaly planed to do. and in the context of Lifehouse it would have been awesome. But that song is just boring as hell
I like the orcestra on the heavier baba O'riley part twords the end.
but do you really need someone playing the bowl or other weird instruments
reminds me of Walk hard when he is doing LSD and starts wrighting songs about black sheep and cutting people in half.

lol, yeah, I much prefer Baba O'Riley over Teenage Wasteland, but i'm just throwing the fact there's actually a song called Teenage Wasteland out there, and making people fear it.

Not me
Exactly my thoughts.
I'm not getting the whole album BTW.

I don't understand where people think The Who is overrated. The Who is one of the bigger influences on rock. Their R&B styles mixed with more modern rock created an epic combination
I believe this describes the Who the best
John Entwistle, the Bassist, died at the age of 57 in a Las Vegas hotel room of a heart attack. He was with a prostitute and was doing coke. And he was known as the quiet member of the band.

Baba
Going Mobile
Behind Blue Eyes
Who Are You
Summertime Blues
Eminence Front
Maybe's...
Sea & Sand
My Generation (depends on what's cut...the full thing would have been epic)
Real Good Looking Boy
Eventually I'll get all, but gotta pick and choose this week

No, I'm just not over 40 years old and happy about that. ;) Just kidding.
I prefer "modern" bands in the game like the Foo fighter, Oasis, Garbage. I hardly play the last two tiers in RB.

after reading all that, people need to calm down.
I think The Who is great, but other might not.
I'm getting maybe four, since I don't have tons of money.
But musical taste is very opinionated guys, and there is no need for a big argument. I don't enjoy listening to Pink Floyd, but I respect what they did. Don't attack another person's taste because they don't like one of the true Rock 'N Roll bands. Just educate.
while taste is very subjective, you cannot deny of how epic these songs will be to play - trust me.
so in the end you'll be missing regardless(whether its a fantastic music or actual instrument simulation which is going to be amazing no doubt).

Oasis is actually very influenced by the Who. They also frequently cover My Generation.

Since this pack is already being claimed as the best DLC pack ever released before its even out is there anyone who isn't buying the pack? I for one will be buying the whole thing without hesitation but I thought I'd see if my theory that every person on these forums will buy this epic pack is true.
I wont buy 1 track. I bought the Disturbed pack though. This is 2008, not 1968 and would really like to see more NEW releases like that, especially if you buy the CD you get a download code or something. Great idea.

I think oasis are influenced by a lot of bands and I don't necessarily like all of them. I don't like the sex pistols either and Noel always says that they influenced his music heavily.
I like the My Generation cover though (this was played at a gig in New York in 1999 btw.). I would buy this cover right now. I would even buy a "Hit me baby one more time" cover performed by oasis. ;)
And don't get me wrong, I think The Who are an important band in music history. It's just not my type of music.

In all honesty, if that's what they are or were like, then they're pretty pathetic individuals who are good musicians. Nothing cool about dying with a hooker and loaded on coke, and if you think there is then you have some messed up priorities.

Im not buying a single song.Wake me up when HMX decides to stop focusing so much on all that 70's crap and just maybe branches out into some good 80's hair bands or Metal.I can name a million better bands or artists that would be better DLC than The Who.
Ozzy
Skid Row (18 & Life anyone?)
Poison
Pantera
Michael Jackson (Dirty Diana would be Epic)
White Snake
OLD Motley Crue
Bon Jovi
Anthrax
The Who is just to damn "soft" or "hippy" for me,these guys rank just like the Grateful Dead or The Beatles, OVERATED!!
I couldn't disagree with this more.
Anyway, I am buying it all. No questions asked. Videos not necessary.

I won't. I've stood by my guns on this one, not buying full albums are artist packs. I've been shooting for variety first. And there's been a TON of songs by artists not on disc that I've foudn myself not needing to grab a ton of artists over and over again.
I'll probably get a few (I mean come on..."CSI Theme Marathon" is too epic to pass up)

Some bands just simply cannot be represented with one song...
I'll use Baba O' Riley as an example. Sure, it's an awesome song, and people would be mad to not get it. However, it is really not the most interesting song to play by them. People would simply want more Who.
