In a nod to those who like punk - a band w/ all 4 parts that would be fun to play - OPERATION IVY with tracks like 'sound system' etc.
SUBLIME also has great tunes w/ a huge cult following as well as songs that would work very well. And on another not would provide a reggae type sound yet to be used in a music game.
why not throw san fran area amazing punk band SWINGIN' UTTERS - i love them and they have tons of songs that would work out well.
BOB MARLEY - but the faster more intense song's w/ running base lines such as 'could you be loved' - the drums would have many roll's in a lot of his songs
PETER FRAMPTON - 'show me the way'
AC/DC - some of their songs are essential rocking out tunes..in fact people during the sars concert in toronto rocked out way more to them than even the stones.
ROD STEWART - "Stay with me" a nice long rock and roll songs w/ drum and guitar solos
RANCID - 'olympia' 'roots radicals' or actually most of 'and out come the wolves' album would work very well.
maybe some skate punk like PENNYWISE - which would have many game-friendly songs such as 'bro-hym' or 'date with destiny'
also forgot to mention a band like TEN FOOT POLE w/ clean vocals and nice drumming i think an ideal song would be 'this is but a test' ? not sure the title right now, but the drums for the entire songs would be different than any other song because it uses a a slow roll rather than a traditional high-hat snare combo - it uses a couple snare hits then about for tom hit's (both) and ends with a snare hit while including a symbol hit here and there, very cool.
last but not least at all ... THE BAND - they we so awesom and they have great solos and drums, vocals and bass...it's amazing, if anyone hasn't seen scorsese film documenting 'the last waltz' it is a must see. amazing, it was their last live show, and had guests like ERIC CLAPTON, NEIL YOUNG, VAN MORRISON, and BOB DYLAN that play with them on stage and should also for sure be in the game too.

yeah, the only problem i could see would be any slow songs...people would complain that they don't rock enough, and the drums on expert would be way too easy, but there are enough intense songs by him for at least a few.

Stay With Me ...
what an amazing song.
That was actually done by The Faces, with Rod Stewart as the front man.
Hell, I'd love to see Hot Legs by Rod Stewart in there as well...just a crazy song.
I like AC/DC and Frampton and The Band.
Sublime would be good, as long as it's one of their hits, as I'm not a huge fan :D
The others are ok.

Bad Brains! Banned in DC or the Big takeover would be sooo much fun
A 999 song would be interesting too. Like Obsessed or Emergency
Also a Vibrators or an Undertones song would be a good time all around

I'd love to see some ska in the future since most of it relies on strumming the up-beats, I think it'd make for an interesting/unique playing experience.

I love the idea of d/l content being of a variety of music, but I have to put in a request for full albums of some of the Boston specific bands like The Slip, Acro-brats, MF Superior, and my favorite Vagiant (I know that this one is from Harmonix, but hey - I own the album I want to play it)
:)

Thanks man, and I agree. NOFX specifically so long thanks for all the shoes - album would have many rock band-friendly songs.
Also Dropkick murphy's thier old song from 'give em the boot' compilation#2 - that anthem song with the bagpipes ' ~ fights and loses, got all the bruises, will some one please step iiiiiinnnnn! ~' great tune.
I reallize boston is a hub for a lot of punk bands as some posters are listing boston bands,...but also this game has to have bands that a big enough for harmonix to conisder and anyone who is or has been into the punk scene knows that there are more gritty little bands than any other music genre. I just hope we get some good ones even if they are or where relatively huge, so as not to alienate people (or harmonix employees) who were never really 'big' into the scene.

What about Me First and the Gimme Gimmes?
Their punk style covers of very popular music is some of the most fun to listen to and would be a new twist on playing them.

The song is Barroom Hero and is on their first full length album/cd (Do or Die) and also I believe the first, not second Give em the Boot comp. If there was going to be a Dropkicks song for DLC I'd prefer it be this but that's because I'm partial to the McColgan era Dropkicks. I lived in Boston back then and I agree there are a lot of great Boston punk bands to choose from if they wanted to go there.
