Just so you know, my brother getting on my account and getting banned does not ban ME. So I made an alternate. It's the same as my youtube account. Now I just need to figure out how to have it log me out automatically.

The problem behind their lawsuit is that Konami patented a type of game, and i dunno if that really qualifies. Rock Band didnt take their drumset and guitar patents and designs, they made their own, and made their own track list and charted the songs themselves.

Itd be like if Squaresoft had patented RPGs or shooting games or something, it doesnt really make any sense. This lawsuit is going nowhere

Music games are bigger than Konami ever thought they were, they want to cash in. Same as Activision. They're just wasting time, Harmonix does what Konamidon't.... oops.

Grow up or go away. You're one of the two forum-goers who's opinion I don't respect at all. I'm happy to see this thread in the forum it should be in.

From what i've read, the suit does have some merit... stronger than any other lawsuit to date at least. Activision DID pay Konami for the guitar rights... so that shows that there is SOMETHING there.

It probably won't affect anything... maybe Konami will get a bit of money out of it. It's not going to stop rockband 2 or any future games though...

Now, I like Konami. They've made some really fun games, and some of my favorites at that. However, sometimes lawyers seem to go off on odd missions to persue something that probably doesn't need to be persued.

I just think it's kinda funny that they'd start this lawsuit now, instead of months ago before Rock Band even hit shelves...

I lost a lot of respect for Konami because of this.

Activision paid cause they needed to, MTV has their own guitar controller patents

That's kind of how I feel about it.

Soon the guy who made Simon will sue all of them because they're using colored pads that you have to hit in a set sequence in order to win a game.

It's frustrating because it would be like someone suing every game developer out there for making use of the PS3 controller or the SNES controller or something. The peripherals are an important part of the game, but they are just input devices. We could easily map them to a control pad. All they've really done is created a device that's analogous to that (as evidenced by the fact that people have taken their electric drum kits at home and made them into Rock Band kits).

So, it's not even the peripheral kit that matters--it's the software--and the software and charting was pretty much standardized by Harmonix at this point. Just look at the striking similarity of the Guitar Hero 4 interface. Smart and probably necessary move by Activision, but much closer to infringement than "Oh look, fake drums," which has been around since poor people used trash can lids instead of a tom.

All I know is this: If Konami wins this thing, they had better use the money to produce Suikoden 6.

Konami should sue all of those folks as well. ;)
