wasnt it because ian was busy doing jesus christ superstar? he was the original jesus. odd i say, because most people just appreciate the ian years, much as most people think of ozzy when they hear black sabbath. i know dio and others did tours in sabbath, but ozzy was the one people associate. just like we change van halen to van hagar when that hack took over the singing duties.

well, ritchie blackmore is a tough guy to work for. all perfectionists are. he was playing here in albuquerque about 10 years ago, and stopped the show mid song to ***** out the sound guy, saying he was going to fire him if he didnt get this or that right....ouch.

Obviously you haven;t listened to the last few albums with Steve Morse on guitar. "perpendicular" was one of the best rock albums out a few years back. Not to mention "Fireball" and "In Rock" are just plain musical staples. Sebastian Bach is not in the same league for God sakes. Ian is one of the greatest rock singers of all time. Matter of fact, replying to this post degrades my intelligence...

Edit: As for Smoke on The Water, yea a better DP song could have been picked, however; the story about the song pays homage to a once great studio and the late, great Frank Zappa.
