Not getting it until next year probably. Unless somebody gets it for me for Christmas but I doubt it because I haven't even dropped any hints on wanting it.

Shouldn't this be in General?

Me, but not me. I'm going to go pick my copy up at the midnight release, but I won't be wishing it was Rock Band. I intend to enjoy each game on its own merits (heh, by merits I mean mostly song list), like a crazy person.

That is crazy ... an impartial point of view and respecting things for what they are. What are you doing on the internet? ;)

Yeah, I'm off here in about an hour or so to get "the other game". I'm not wishing it was Rock Band...well, actually, I sort of am. I fear GH3 will be poop compared to Harmonix's offerings. Oh well, it'll keep me busy for 3 weeks until the game I really want comes out.

Was gonna go tonight at midnight, but got too baked and lazy to want to go anywhere now. Gonna wait for Best Buy to open at 11 tomorrow and at least get the free faceplate to customize.

I get off work at 11, in exactly one hour. I'm going to go home, rock out for a little bit and then head to Wal-Mart. Then I get to go to work again at 8am tomorrow.

I'm going to get it around noon. I highly doubt the PS3 version can sell out in my town

I'm gonna sing along and tap my feet to the drum beat. that's the closest thing to rock band that I can get.

I can honestly say I have no real desire to get GH3. After hearing that I can't use the Strat with it, that was the final blow. I'm going to play through co-op with a friend next weekend, and that may change my mind.

I pre-ordered mine from 'their' website (won't advertise for them on here) and I actually got the bundle on Friday afternoon! Been playing it and loving it. I honestly really enjoy all the songs that both games share, so thats really good news!

I can only hope I am as lucky with the Rock Band pre-order to get it 2-3 days early, like I did with this game (again, no advertisement!) :)

Renting it. I messed around with it at work and didn't like the changes. I need something to pass the time though

I hope that happens to me! I pre-ordered it (Rock Band) from GameStop (EBGames, whatever) and hope I get it early. It probably won't happen. They have some guarantee that you will get it on release date, and if you don't, they take a WHOLE $10 OFF! Yay! The price just went from $211 to $201! Major savings! Yeah well anyway the most I can do is hope. I'm still trying to find out a way to get the "other" game (no advertisement! lol).

I'm gonna wake up, have a good lunch (hey, it's the weekend!) then go pick mine up.

It's not gonna be as good as RB, but it's still another pile of pretty good songs to play in a music game. I just need to try to avoid staring at the singer's massive muppet jaw or Judy Nails's pinched little face, and everything else will sort itself out.

I'm hoping to get a free version from my Best Buy (having a contest; winner gets free game + guitar). If I don't win, I won't buy it. I'll probably rent it, play it until RB comes out, then be done with it.

Off Topic, but what are supposed to be the hardest song? I want to watch the videos of them on YouTube to get ready.

Hardest songs would be 'Raining Blood', 'Number of the Beasts', 'Cliffs of Dover', 'One', 'The Devil Went Down to Georgia' and 'Through Fire and Flames.'

Hope this helps!

That's hardly the most distracting part of neo-Judy.

Even more annoying is the stage-diving guy. EVERY SONG!

Thanks for the Song Suggestions/Videos undertow & ROck3r. I really don't want to have to play Raining Blood and Cliffs of Dover right away... those look hard. Very hard.

Did anyone else go to gamestop and have to play triva to get your game, I did and about five after no one cared enough to respond except to say "Hey it's after midnight let us in". The greatest part is the manager said well not until we are done and I say so it's my register. So someone shouted "well there are more of us then you" so he went back inside and sent someone else out to let only 5 of us in at a time.

Seriously who wants to stand in the cold playing trivia when all they wanted was to come pick up there game.

Well, I did go to my Game Stop for their midnight release. I was the first one there...and only one there for like 15 minutes. Then, around 11:40, the place started getting loaded. I thought they'd have some cool jam fest or something... Nah, it was the demo of GH3 on a TV with no sound..lol. So, yeah...hung out, talked with some people (mostly about Rock Band, funny enough) and got my game. I got home around 12:15 and rocked out the Co-op Career with my bro until about 10 minutes ago. It's fun. I'll give them that. Some of the charts are like, wow, what do you want from me!!????!? But, still fun. I know Rock Band will kill this game but, until it's in stores, GH3 will be in my 360 for the longhaul.

Oh and by the way, GH2 is a better game...for sure. The only thing that surpasses GH2 in GH3 is the HO/POs are excellent.

So, yeah...I'm off to bed. Good night, forum.

Yech.. bought it and don't like it. Feels horrible. Everything about it. I'm selling it tomorrow. I kid you not, I hate it. And I loved GH2.

Me and my Guitar Hero nut of a friend Dave went down to our local GameStop where I had it preordered just as the clock struck 12. As low expectations I had, based on demo impressions, this game is a buttload of fun. Me and Dave got all the way to "One" on the Co-Op Career Mode, and that's currently were we stand.

Loads more fun than I was expecting, and Dave's new wireless Les Paul is pretty tempting (considering I had no prior interest in it).

Went to Best Buy at 9, hoping the Rock Band demo would be set up. It wasn't, and they kicked us out at 10 to wait in line outside, then shuffled us through quickly at midnight. So, boo for Best Buy.

Now, as for the game--I actually really like it. The setlist is better than any previous Guitar Hero game, but I still don't think it's as good as Rock Band. The notecharts are a lot harder, but the game engine is a lot more forgiving, and it mostly balances out. I was only one song away from the log on GH2 (Misirlou), and on my first run through, I've 5 starred everything except Cliffs of Dover (4), Number of the Beast (4), and Raining Blood (still haven't passed). The boss battles took a little getting used to, but were quite fun. Online multiplayer is wonderful; I can't wait to try it with drums :)

And a note on that forgiving game engine--Misirlou is still my missing 5 star in GH2, but I 5 starred Knights of Cydonia on a sightread. Both have similarly annoying long fast strumming sections.

The bad: Occasional framerate issues on the 360, Raining Blood is an evil, evil song, why can't I play boss battle songs outside of single player career?

Well, I went and got GH3. It's easily the best GH yet, in my opinion. The graphics (I actually like the new Judy Nails and the muppet singer), the note timing mechanics (including hammer-ons and pull-offs), the song selection (so glad to be done with GH2's relatively abysmal song list), the master tracks, all are better than the other games in the series. The note charts are... eh, I don't really have an opinion. I'm not quite done playing on Hard to unlock everything (got to the last venue and called it a night), once I get done with that we'll see about Expert. Hard is starting to beat me down, though, so I doubt I'm gonna be finishing Expert anytime soon, if ever.

The Les Pauls don't work with GH 80s (the disc I had around), but we knew that. I'm guessing it's because of that damned dongle they have for the PS3, the thing won't even turn on when I fire up GH 80s. I also bought a controller adapter, and had no luck getting my SG to work under GH3 (no coop songs for me, I guess...). If anyone has any tips, let me know. Hooray for guitar fun!
