Well, for those who have seen it. It would just be something awful for me to direct anyone to them.
I'm liking how the new guitar looks. It has a much more realistic appearance, and the fret buttons actually look embedded now.
The drum set looks like it will be a ton of fun to use. I don't play drums, so this is the viewpoint of a someone who doesn't know too much about them. It's better than what I was expecting. Looks like a real quality peripheral.
The new HUD is only shown with all four players, so I'm not quite sure how a single player RB guitar track vs. single player GH would compare. (Do you see all the instruments on-screen even during single player maybe? I hope not - or at least have it be optional.) From what I can tell, the notes don't seem to light up when the fret button is held down anymore, which I would miss a little bit.
The drums and bass/rhythm tracks have a dark transparency which is cool, but the guitar track (also transparent) always seems to have a dark pink/purple tint (I'm partially colorblind so forgive me if I'm wrong about the color). Maybe you'll be able to change the way the tracks look in the options. The tracks no longer have designs on them, but I'm okay with that. They usually just got in the way. I guess the elimination of the character-specific track patterns helps you see the backgrounds better.
I love moving the multiplier thing to where it is now. It's right below the on-screen frets where you don't have to move your eyes anymore to see it. It seems to be a progress bar that you fill up, which I really like.
The star power is now a vertical bar (on the left) which keeps track of each player's star power with an icon (guitar, microphone, etc. circles) pointing to the player's respective level. The icons overlap at the moment, which looks like it could be really confusing. But we don't quite now how star power works in four player.
Of course, the HUD shown isn't final, so other people might want to give your feedback so HMX can tweak it to their (and our) liking.

Hurf durf.
The guitar looks really slick, and the interface is awesome and non cluttered, everything is where it should be. Vocals look just like they do in KR, and the guitar and bass tracks will be instantly familiar.

Wow, somehow I magically knew where to look to find some really ****ty but good enough scans!
I must say, the guitar looks dope, 3/4 scale means its bigger than current GH controllers.. I hope it is still comfortable..
the drums worry me.. they are all in a row.. I hope they make them customizable.. I dont think it will be very comfortable them all in a line like that.. they should have one thats a little higher to at least pretend to be a short of hi-hat.. but I know it isn't final and I'm sure they know what they are doing.
I want to see some better scans, PLEASE. but like the other thing that bothered me was the in game shot.. you can see guitar and bass having all 5 hit thingies, but the drums only have 4? wheres the indicator that tells you to hit the pedal? hmm. oh well, gotta wait for full size scans =(

I also noticed a line that said the doubling of the mic "might even be cowbell phrases." Is this a not-so-subtle confirmation that they're trying to get (or have already gotten) Don't Fear the Reaper?

It says that a line descends in the drum track for the pedal. When the line hits the usual marker, that's when you have to hit the pedal.

^^ I hope they up the pixel resolution in for the final design ^__^
I'm happy that they're not all in a straight line next to each other (that's what came to mind when i read about it looking like a dinner tray) but I do hope that we can get some alternating heights.. even though it's probably not cost effective

That Drum Design Isnt The Final One... Didnt You Read ?
Yes, did you? It's a working prototype, and it's not going to be changed drastically from this point. They could change it to a square formation, which would be far superior, but it may never change from that.
Also, Why Do You Always Type Like This?

Well, It really could change alot when you think about it.
They still have alot of time to make another design, and I kinda hope it does change a little, I dont really care for all the pads looking exactly the same...

One thing that discourages me is the fact that the article says that this might be the big party game of 2008.

I thought we were talking late 07 here?
Maybe they meant that the game will be a huge hit into the next year...

I dont mind much if it comes out next year, Id rather they took their time with it rather than rushing it out for Christmas..
Anyway, we'll have GHIII as our appetizer until then (if it is 08),
I just hope Im not forced into buying one of their les pauls, because Id rather my old controllers work (save some $$)

One thing of note is that in one caption it says that bass is NOT getting its own career mode - why 4 games in one then? I guess because of the lines. sucks that bass is 'repetitive and boring' in most songs though.. rhythm guitar ftw pls.

What godamn issue is this and has it hit the streets yet? I just went to gamestop and all they had was the call of duty 4 one which i thought was it but I found nothing in it. Is rock band on the cover? Oh and I'll wait till 08 if need be I know i'll be playing this game for years.

The new guitar looks great.. makes me embarrassed to use that Flying V, now.
It's also gonna seem a bit weird having the red snare on the outside of the yellow hi-hat (and depending how you interpret that article, possibly a yellow cymbal too).. but if you got yellow and blue acting as two toms for most tracks i guess it can't be helped.
As far as the purple fretboard for lead guitar goes.. I'm gonna assume it's an in-progress star-power indicator.. because it's a bit ugly to have "just coz"
Glad to see the article actually mentioned how you only have to buy one instrument if you want.. far too many people complaining that it'll cost too much--as if they're being forced to buy all four instruments just for themselves.
