With the flood of articles and websites hands-ons... They all said there would be more surprises on the way for E3.

But since the GameInformer article that shows the ION set and reveals new songs and a laundry list of new features and shows the new stock drum model. Also revealed a few new songs, I must wonder if the info from the GI article is the "surprises" we were waiting for from E3 (since it is the August issue, perhaps HMX figured it wouldn't be seen until after E3...also how come someone ALWAYS gets there issue before I do?)

We do know about:
-The ION Kit
-The new stock drum kit (with optional cymbal add-ons)
-10-15 songs off of the songlist
-Drum Trainer Mode
-Jukebox Mode
-No Fail Mode
-Word Tour Mode (online aswell)
-Tour Challenges mode
-The new guitar
-The ability to play drums over MP3's
-The redesigned Quick-play Mode
-The ability to create setlists
-Battle Of The Bands mode (online aswell)
-More user friendly lag calibrater
-In-Game photo creater
-Real world Merch for your band
-The indie initiative
-Party Safe mode (no more backing out to the title screen)
-New mode for song sorting (like the music store)
-New lighting and stage effects
-Backwards and forwards combatibility of DLC
-No More band Leader
-Any charcter can play any instrument

I just think most of the info about RB2 has been revealed. The only thing they really have left for E3 is the songlist. (Which I doubt we will get many songs that we haven't already known) They will also probablly show the stock RB2 drums with the cymbal add-ons. Perhaps a definate yes or no on RB1 songs in RB2. And almost definately an announcment of upcoming DLC including albums.

But all in all I think most of the "surprises" have been shown in the GI article.(and all the other hands-on articles)

Do you think HMX has even more up their sleeve? Or do you think that what was up their sleeve is now in the pages of GameInformer's August Issue?

I think HMX knew when the Game Informer issue would come out when they released that stuff. There's still a lot of bells and whistles to be revealed. Singing guitarist, not having to change hair when you change hats, rhythm guitar, a new microphone, more game features, more game modes, DLC announcements. I think there's a lot more to be revealed, especially things you might not have thought of. I really feel HMX is pulling out all the stops for this game.

I just feel like most of the "features and new modes" have been revealed. And the only thing left is the details(songslist/Create-a-Rocker options etc.) And mostly the details like that aren't shown at E3...E3 will mostly revolve around the new features and play modes we've already heard about aswell as the new instruments. Course I am just sepculating here, but I think E3 (to us forum regulars) will be a basic rehashing of things we've learned from articles and magazines. There won't be much "new" info for us...(wich is okay cuz all the info I have is enough for me to get the game no matter what)

We may know of most of the features, but we don't know the details on a lot of them yet. Some people still have burning questions about fat rockers and hats :) There's still around 70 songs left to be confirmed. Official prices and release dates haven't been announced yet. Hopefully the RB1 disc songs issue will be settled one way or another. There have been hints in some of the articles about other features that can't be discussed yet, so we may still get a big surprise or two this week. Even in the unlikely event that nothing really new is revealed, at least all the hype will give us something to do to help pass the time while we wait for the game to come out.

Just to expand on this, not everyone comes to these boards a dozen times a day like some of us (myself included). So there will be a lot of people who will be hearing about these features for the first time when E3 takes place.

That's not to say we won't hear anything new, but certainly a good deal of info we will already know about when "announced" by Harmonix.

They'll announce the ability to 'carry over' rockers and bands from Rock Band to Rock Band 2. Hopefully!

^no idea

i think HMX has plenty more things to announce. i read a blog on penny arcade, and the guy there said he was shown a few things, but no one has talked aboout it yet.

he says they are better than whats already been revealed.

i just want to know what the add on cymbals look like. i would ge the ion kit, but I already own a real drumset, and its REAL. not a crappy electric one.

they most likely have something up their sleeves, the hype is killing me i cant wait for e3, gamestop did tell me the release date for the bundle is oct 31st, and the game only comes out a month b4 the bundle, which kinda sucks for the people who ordered the bundle.. n yeah it is gamestop but i thought id share the info. oh and with tax it came to like 202$ somethin like that

If Harmonix somehow successfully implements a "Create A Medley" mode (ala Singstar and Karaoke Revolution) that would be a pretty big win. Other than that it's hard to think of what they could possibly have in store for us at E3. But I have a feeling it's going to blow us away.

We're still waiting on a couple of things:
1. Price.
2. Actual release dates for all systems and countries.
3. Full setlist.
4. Upcoming album/DLC releases.
5. PS3 voicechat, players met & trophies confirmation.
6. Wii gameplay specifics (such as online & DLC).

Plus, no game reviewer has been able to actually play the game yet. I'd like to get feedback on the new drums and guitar. I'd also like feedback on the gameplay itself. How has it changed?

The biggest thing I have to look forward to seeing is the ability to play an instrument and sing at the same time.

We know: 1) no more band leader, and 2)instrument switching

I want the ability to chose both vocals and an instrument in the menu. That way my avatar can have a mic as part of my drum kit, or play guitar at the mic stand.

I know this is harder on wii, as the gameplay is canned, but on 360, there is no reason I can think of that this can't be done.

This should of course eliminate the need to rock the tambourine.

Think about the great achievements this could open up - complete endless setlist on drums/guitar/bass AND vocals, all depending on who's is on the song list:

Drums-
Don Henly
Phill Collins

Guitar-
Jimi
Claudio Sanchez

Bass-
Geddy Lee

They did play the game at the Pre-E3 EA Press Conference. This was noted in multiple "Hands On" (Gamespot, GameInformer, IGN etc.). They haven't used the new instruments yet though.

The articles said that they were not allowed to even touch the new instruments (plus the guitar was non-functional). They were shown gameplay footage. The "Hands On" title is very misleading.

Set lists make or break music games. end of story

so the set list being announced is a big enough announcement that they dont really need anything else

if Rock Bands song list consisted mostly of disney channel original bands yet had the same exact set upm and look and features as the Rock Band we know and love.

Then, that piece of **** looking rock revolution pulled the entire led zeppelin catalog out of their butts, but still looked the way it does in the previews and only had a quickplay mode

Rock Revolution is selling more!

bring on the set list!

And now The New York Times (the most read newspaper in all of USA) has revealed that a new GnR song will be in RB2 "Shackler Revenge" (Which ,if you've been paying attention, means that every song confirmed thus far has been on the leaked setlist)

Damn, now I will never be surprised...I don't know what HMX could do to surprise us tomorrow...

Well we haven't gotten to see any of these features in action yet and thats what E3 will do. Plus we'll get a lot more if not all of the setlist. We haven't gotten to see any kind of interfaces or menus or anything yet so thats definitly part of the surprise.

i wouldn't be surprised if the leaked list is true, but possibly either missing key songs or to be joined with some incredibly big DLC around or at the time of release.
either way, i'm very happy with the leaked list. it has roughly the same amount of songs i was happy to see made it on the first disc, plus more songs for me to possibly be surprised by when i get to play them.

What's the indie inavative?

My take on it is that they're going to expose us to more indy bands.

Personally, I could do without this. Save the money on licensing & programming for bigger artists.

I also remember reading about the freestyle drum thing. I wonder if you'll be able to do the same with your guitar and microphone?

I'm pretty sure the "indie innitiative" is in regards to indie bands that get developmental kits and can upload their music onto a "indie part" of the DLC.

This will not affect our weekly DLC (big bands or Blondie :p)

It will simply add more to choose from when it comes to DLC.

There is a loooonnnggg thread about..do a search its a pretty good read.

As far as freestyle goes..I'm almost 100% positive this is a drum-only option.

what would a vocal freestyle mode consist of, exactly? just muting the vocals while the song plays?

No-fail mode for the singer. :D

Do you really need to use the mic to freestyle to MP3s? Can't you just sing the song yourself? It's not like the game can chart or mute the vocals from your MP3s anyways..
