Offspring DLC Please!

We Have One Offspring Song, With 6 More On The Way. I Consider This Topic A Success. I'll Mark Out Which Songs On My List We Got.

I really would love to see an Offspring album as DLC. The most likely one would be Americana, but it'd be great to see some sort of compilation of the songs with the most playable tracks. I could throw together a list of songs with parts that'd be fun to play, probably for everyone.

Pretty Fly isn't on this list because the vocals are horrible. With the girl parts and the "uh huh" bit, I'd hate to attempt it. But It Seems We Are Getting It As DLC Anyway.
The only obscure tracks on this list are Come Out Swinging and Beheaded. Dirty Magic is a fan favourite, and all the rest have been singles.

All the songs now have links so you can hear what they are like. Most are original vids put up by the band themselves, but have had to fall back on stupid anime FMVs for some.

Ahh, another one of those people who start to not like bands just because they get popular. Don't deny it, you just said that their last good album was Ixnay, the album before Americana, the album that made them popular.

All these songs have interesting parts for everyone in the band, and I would love to see some of these in Rock Band.

I registered to the forum just to show my support of this idea.

Been listening to their stuff in my car and I realize their songs would make excellent Rockband songs. The drums, guitar, vocal will be pretty entertaining to play.

I also think we could use some Papa Roach stuff after listening to some of their stuff.

sorry i have to call bull****, as others probably have, SMASH made them famous and made EPITAPH records a force in Punk Rock that it had never attained before. Americana was big, but they were big before it and Ixnay us Awesome. Offspring got big around the same time Green Day hit it big and they can both be partially credited for making punk mainstream (to accolades or jeers, your choice). Im not putting you down because i like offspring as a band, and wont judge them on one or two crappy albums (cough:: Splinter:: cough). so anyhow my tops would be:

you cant blame that one on harmonix. THe game was new at the time. Bad Religion had Returned to Epitaph records and the album containing Infected was recorded with ATLANTIC. Also the songs were ALL covers in GH1, Master tracks were not introduced until GH2.

none necessary, its what geeks do :cool: I've been a fan of BR for a long time, and GH one was still great despite the lack of Masters. They should make them DLC for the new GH3 or even rock band. I heard a rumor to that effect but dont know if its true.

yeah OASIS would be cool. Wonderwall, Champaigne Supernova, Dont Look Back in Anger...all good songs. How about this one "The Way" by Fastball. One-hit wonders that deserve a spin.

....The part I find most disturbing of that comment is calling Fastball one-hit wonders. They also had Fire Escape, Out of My Head, and You're an Ocean. They were a four-hit wonder. Like Vertical Horizon.

On topic, Offspring are a great rock band, in the same way I think of Jet - no one piece is particularly strong, but it comes together beautifully. Kids Aren't Alright definitely would be my first choice, personally.

I totally agree. No-one is really an over the top showman, or an egotistical leader, each member has their own stuff to do and does it with style.

The Kids definitley because of the popularity, and it's a slightly simple track.

My Offspring taste might be a little specific(I really only drum), but tracks I would love to see are:

All I Want
Genocide

You know after this whole Motley Crue song being released this week as a preview to there new album is it totally unrealistic to ask for The Offspring's new single "Hammerhead" as a DLC in the near future? I would think judging by the bands past with giving there songs out for video games (Crazy taxi 2 for one) that they'd be more than happy to give the license to their song to get there name back out to the public. I mean for the band having the highest-selling record of all time on an independent record label "Smash" (thank you wikipedia) there sure aren't getting a lot of credit now a days. I think an Offspring DLC for a whole album would be heavenly, when I heard that a track pack was announced on April from some guy on Youtube for them I almost jumped out of my seat only to soon discover that it happened to fall on April 1st. At this point, I think I'd be lucky enough just to have "Hammerhead." Either way, "I'll be waiting for that day to arrive..."

Yeah, I'm even dreaming for a full album DLC of Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace. Both Hammerhead and Half Truism seem good for Rock Band. (Heard them both on live recordings, you can find them on Youtube if you haven't heard them).

And not only has their music been in video games, they are very used to digital distribution. Remember when they tried to give away Conspiracy Of One away for free? Pity their record label stopped them, they would have pipped Radiohead to the post by years.

You certainly have to hand it to punk bands like the Ramones and others that have had their stuff put on games, but seriously, The Offspring has had such an impact on the punk universe, new stuff as well as the old stuff. They have been around through it all, and it would be so awesome if they got some attention in this new technology of getting their music out there...not everyone listens to the radio (me being one of them and proud of it!), so why not release "Hammerhead" or "Half-truism" on Rock Band! It would be so cool of Harmonix to do that. I mean I love all the classic rock they have been adding to the DLC, but lets get real. Yea, you've got a point. I love classic rock and have enjoyed a majority of the DLC available for Rock band. But it seems a lot of people are talking about how no recent bands have been added. I'm fine with the fact that Harmonix has ignored the 90's generation music scene for the most part. Just remember The Offspring started in the late 80's ;)

On another note the news of full album DLC is amazing. It's good to know Harmonix is working on a ton of content that we no nothing about. Perhaps even "Hammerhead" *nudges* eh?

Yes, again a million times thank you. That's a nice message at the end and also makes the wait for June 17th that much more aggravating. Yea, it's great to see this CD didn't turn down the crap road that is St. Anger. That worries me for awhile.

Obviously not the official lyrics but by what I hear it seems to be right on the money. I saw on wikipedia that dexter said the song was about military service and school shootings . Interesting how the lyrics change course along with the melody.

Frieki7, from my knowledge, Dexter never mentioned anything about it being about the military. He only said it was about school shootings. Personally I do think it's both though. Like the single cover, it's half a military patch, but half like a school emblem, in the Harry Potter/School Of Rock sort of way.

I totally agree(if you couldn't already guess ;)) It seems to me that the song has great individual parts. I especially enjoy the breakdown. Not complex, but just has that old punk feel to it. Just seems like it'd be fun for each instrument to play.

I agree. I love pretty fly but there are much better choices for a Rock Band song from their catalog. The kids aren't alright and gone away come to mind from their radio hit selection for me(along with Hammerhead of course.)

everytime i go through the setlist and see the fact that theres 90s songs makes me downrite angry. SMASH was the top selling punk album in 94' not to mention pretty fly and kids are chart toppers with Americana, a lot of people think the offspring are dead which is not right by any means...

at this point i dont care if its pretty fly but any offspring would be awesome

I'm glad there are other people who would love to see Offspring on this damn game. Good selection of songs OP but if they're gonna realistically choose songs, they'd stick to singles. If there is only 1 Offspring track pack, I'd have to say it should contain:

- "Come Out And Play (Keep 'em Seperated)"
- "Gotta Get Away"
- "Hit That"
- "Self Esteem"
- "Gone Away"
- "She's Got Issues"

Yeah, I know the majority is from Smash but those are their most popular singles and what put them on the map, plus who can deny the awesomeness of Smash? I can not wait for "Rise And Fall, Rage And Grace"!!!!

Imagine if we got all of Rise And Fall, Rage And Grace as DLC for next week. Seeing as it comes out in the US on Tuesday, the same day that the 360 users get DLC.

Well, Harmonix have the licenses for it, as well as "All I Want"

I predict that they are licensing a third song and then releasing Offspring Pack 02. I hope they'll put crowd sing-a-longs in this pack too.
